Clover is trash.
Clover is an entire scam of a company. We joined because they promised lower credit card fees than our current POS only to be slapped with hardware rental and software access fees. Those fees along with the credit card fees are adding up to more than what we were paying just for the credit card fees alone with our old POS. Also we went through several machines just to get set up because of incorrect models being sent that weren’t compatible with each other. Once we got set up the card reader broke after a week of use. We lost sales because of all of this. Customer service is trash. Now stuck in a contract that is costing a small business more money than it needs to spend because of their misleading tactics.
SIGN UP IS LENGTHY AND COMPLICATED
2 years ago great but NOW diabolical with their sign ups! They keep asking for one thing after another after another. Rates need to be negotiated as upfront they are on the higher side.
Sign up agents seem to be new and unorganised in there management of potential clients. Teya signup 3 days machine and all. These guys, coming on to 2 weeks still going!
oh and another point. Clover treats email addresses as a form of legitimate ID in the sense that if email name does not reflect your own personal name or business name they won't accept you! Not worth all the hassle and delays. other companies out there that I'm positive would be better.

Staw away! Awful customer UI
AWFUL! As a customer, nothing works! It spams you endlessly with the bot checks, ordering one coffee is probably 4 or 5 bot checks. Email login is broken, it keeps telling you the link has expired. All the customer service links are broken or give you a pre-canned response. There is no human customer service. If I didnt know better I would have thought this was a scam, but it does actually place orders if you persist with the TERRIBLE ui.
This is coded like a high-school kids beginner coding project. Flawed, broken and basic.

Clover worked great for my business. But after buying the equipment, they stopped supporting it 1.5 years later… Now I am stuck with equipment I bought that they no longer support. Waste of money…

PATHETIC customer service from CLOVER
I recently signed up for Merchant Services with Huntington Bank. They set my business up with Clover. I called their customer service and had 1 question. How do I setup a virtual account for my employee?
The tech rep was likely based out of India. I understand the language barrier but he could not, for the life of me explain how to setup the damn account for an employee!
He kept saying only 1 account and that I have to give my login details to the employee.
Then he says you can define permissions. If I have to give my Admin login to the employee then why in the hell am I setting up permissions for my employee???
It was all BS.
I ended up disconnecting.

Bunch of scammers. Please anybody who reads these reviews, don’t sign up with this group of idiots. All that will happen is you will overpay and stay frustrated both with the customer service and exorbitant fees!! They pass the buck and don’t give you straight answers.
Misleading Contract – Avoid This Company
My contract for the card terminal ends in November, and I’ve just been told I’ll continue paying for it for life. When I signed up, I was clearly told that after three years, I would own the terminal. That was a lie.
I’ve paid nearly £4,000 over the course of the contract, and yet I don’t own the device. I was initially charged £29.99 + VAT, for software £39.99 + VAT for rental monthly. When I questioned what happens after the contract ends, I was told I could "keep" the terminal — but of course, it’s locked and can’t be used with any other provider. So what’s the point?
This company’s practices are misleading and unfair. It feels like a complete scam. I’ll never use them again and strongly advise others to stay away. You’re better off buying a terminal outright elsewhere than getting trapped in one of their contracts. i intend reporting toFinancial Ombudsman, Trading Standards. This company neeeds closing down.
Absolutely Ridiculous – Avoid Clover
Clover is, without a doubt, the most ridiculous company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Not only are their cashier machines outrageously expensive, but their customer service is also some of the worst I’ve encountered. When I had to return these ridiculously heavy machines, I was forced to cover the delivery fees myself. Here’s a receipt showing how much I had to pay just to return them (Can't attach photo - but it's roughly ~$100USD).
I HIGHLY do not recommend Clover. Their business model seems designed solely to squeeze money out of small business owners, which is completely unacceptable. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

There are 3rd party companies selling clover products and flat out lying to you to make the sale and a much higher price that a legitimate clover representative can sell it to you
I fell for the lying 3rd company and when Rixon was made aware he reached out to me and made it right and refunded the money I over paid.
If you are looking for a pos make sure the email you receive is from clover.com the 3rd party companies are thieves and will lie to make a sale

Run away as fast as you can terrible customer service they took just over 1000.00 out of my account and said it was first a collections issue, i asked to what? and then they said it was for security reasons. and i cant get to anyone to help me to release the cash they took from my deposit I dont know what to do.this happened july 10 2025 and ive called 6 times and got a complete run around. no help they just pass me to different departments. Hiding behind fines line clauses, misleading advertisement about equipment, hard inquiry on credits without educating the client. Just another money making company rushing clients into signing contracts.
They are thieves
They have stolen over $1K from me from an incompetent sales rep that set me ip with the wrong account. When I needed to talk to someone who can actually help me get my money back they kept goving me the generic customer service number. The help that I have received has been useless. They continue to draft my account and there is nothing I can do to make it stop them.
