CMS undertook a Team Mediation intervention in a private sector construction firm on behalf of GS&A Ltd. This is the first assignment that GS&A Ltd have commissioned services from CMS.

The way that Brian understood the brief and handled the mediation process was exceptional. This was evident in the glowing feedback I received from the client. More importantly the integrity and personal effort that Brian put into this assignment added significant value to the work carried out and the results reported. It's great to know that where GS&A cannot resource assignments that we have a trusted partner we know can do the business and in the right way!

Having been a public servant for over 20 years, it was a very sad day when I felt it necessary to take a stand against the misconduct, bullying and harassing behaviour of a senior manager.
On discovering that those with the power and influence to challenge the behaviour were unwilling to put aside their own self interest to do so; I found myself at the mercy of internal decision makers who refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing.

I held my ground and I was able to enlist the help of Carmichael Mediation Services to carry out an independent investigation into the conduct of the manager and a small number of their subordinates.

I found Brian Carmichael incredibly compassionate, professional and diligent; particularly with regard to sensitive aspects of the investigation.

He remained determined and focussed in his fact-finding even though some key witnesses used a HR loophole to avoid co-operation.

Despite the hurdles, Brian maintained regular effective communication in order to update me on his progress and reduce the stress and anxiety associated with my situation. He always asked for my input and interpretation to ensure he was able to challenge where appropriate and have enough detailed information to clarify facts.

After 9 months of challenging investigation through the early months of COVID-19, Brian completed and submitted a very detailed report. The report concluded that I had been subjected to a pattern of bullying and harassing behaviour over a long time.

This week I received a letter from HR accepting the conclusions and recommendations from the CMS report and a decision to uphold my grievance in terms of breaches of Dignity and Respect policy. It is now 2 years and 6 months since I first submitted my complaint and, it is my honest held belief that I would not have got the outcome I have received were it not for the support, compassion and professionalism of Carmichael Mediation Services.

CMS have succeeded where internal HR policy, my union and senior managers have failed. I recommend CMS without hesitation to anyone seeking independent resolution to organisational disputes or challenge.
