The worst bank I have ever had to deal…

The worst bank I have ever had to deal with, and I have many different banks. Please save yourself time and headaches and get literally any other bank but this terrible bank that is absolutely useless in everything they do. It's appalling that they are even recognised as a bank; they would be better off as a clown costume shop, and somehow would still suck at that.

This bank claims all profits go back to…

This bank claims all profits go back to the people by way of interest. No it doesn't.
My term deposit was suppose to roll over when it matured. Got a letter to say it did. Months later discovered it hadn't
Since closing branches and moving to an office type bank it has gone down hill.
I phoned and was told I should have asked for it to roll over. I did when I first opened the investment 2 years ago. I received a letter saying it had rolled over in April. They put it into a non interest bearing account.
Mistakes happen but at least put it into an interest bearing account. I am gutted this is a lot of money and for a bank not to pay interest isn't right. Use my money and say you are there for the customers. Well I am not a customer any more.

Napier branch customer service

Yesterday hubby went into Napier branch co operative bank to put accounts in joint name. Was told to bring an invoice in with names and address. Wife had to have an account there. Was not told to make an appointment. Went back today wasn't greeted with a welcoming smile and was told we had to make an appointment. There was no one except us in there and bank workers had no one with them. The customer service was non existent and my hubby is trying now to call head office....too long a wait we had to hang up. Unsatisfied 15k each way for us to get there.

This bank doesn't take security…

This bank doesn't take security seriously at all, I had to really press them to take notice of an account hijack then they tried to gaslight me.
What happened to me could really have only happened internally, I think they knew that, the police officer I dealt with, more or less said the same.
Then they refunded the small amount the thieves were able to extract, and told me they'd cover it "this time".
I can't even close my accounts unless I take time off work as they won't do it over the phone and the only branch is in Riccarton, not open on weekends.
Avoid like the plague.

Could do better

I signed up with the Co-op bank because the idea of being a part owner of such an institution appealed to me. As part owner, I thought I would get better service and outcomes compared to the other major banks.
I have been experiencing very poor service, the bank lying about timelines, 'we get back to you in 5 business days', which turns out to be 8 business days. Staff actually not getting back to me and then they give some lame excuse.
Forget about an appointment in the branch with a real person: you will have to wait for 3 weeks.
I find that unacceptable.
I was thinking about switching all my bank accounts to Co-op bank however my current experience has eroded my trust.
My suggestions are as follows; increase staff levels, if you can't meet a deadline just let the customer know and improve skill sets through training.
I wanted to contact the Co-operative bank first but how?

Shocking service

Shocking service, call back system that does not work. Lack of staff was one of their excuses. Considering this bank was created by the Public Service, thus called PSIS, there is a lack of service to the public snd they have consistently let down their core customers

Way better than the big Aussies

A small operation but I have never had anything but helpful, courteous service. I don't mind that there is only one physical branch in my city. Anything I have ever wanted fixed has been attended to over the phone. I haven't borrowed money in a long time but I get better interest rates than from any of the big four Aussie greedies plus interest on my current account plus a share in the annual profits based on what I have in the bank. I can't believe that Kiwis still use the Aussies when this local co-operative is available to everyone.

Bank has turned into a joke

Bank has turned into a joke, other banks offering 4.99 on two year fixed and the co-op says all they can do is a special rate for me of 5.49 because I am an existing customer, it’s advertised that it’s 5.49 so it’s not special at all, they think I’m sticking around paying a whole .5% more than other banks offer, There are banks I have never heard of offering better rates! I’m moving to westpac. Branches are closing down, you can never get hold of your bank, instead you get hold of a random across the country who can’t do anything but pass a message on to your bank.

Apparently an awesome bank

I just want to say lots of these reviews are for the UK bank, not the NZ bank - they are different / separate institutions. The NZ bank is 100% customer owned, low fees, and has awesome products like 5% interest on kids everyday accounts. Only 3 stars from me because I didn't manage to open accounts with them due to their ridiculous system of not being able to make appointments within a 1-2 day timeframe, literally can't call a branch to make an appt, and their call centre can't call a branch for you - the call centre can only deal with branches by 24 hour turn around emails - it's insane. I'm very frustrated about it, had to open with Kiwibank instead.

Tiny home dwellers avoid this bank.

Despite their image as a people's bank and pride of place in Consumer reports, the bank categorically does not lend for land purchases if someone intends to live in a tiny home. Even if CCV is greater than purchase price, they do not consider Tiny Home dwellers as profitable enough to sell to. Treatment was subpar even for prime land because they consider tiny homes non-traditional. They are out of touch with the actual lower risk profile of THOW locations onto banked land.

My wife and I will never use this bank…

My wife and I will never use this bank again,
Firstly if you want to contact them with a problem to be resolved, its allways a 30 min wait on phone , in real time you will wait ,if like me up to nearly one hour, to find the person on the other end can't deal with your problem.Transferring ISAs have never been a problem with other banks till we banked with the COOP,have you ever had the feeling of going round in circles, you will if you bank with the COOP.

Nothing bad to say about this bank. What Kiwibank USED to be

Nothing bad to say about this bank. Great friendly service. Cheap annual fees, free online transactions and great insurance added on with their provider Asset care. Its complete car coverage at half the cost of other insurance companies. My only gripe is that there is only one bank in the city and thet dont have cash machines as they're associated with BNZ but thats all good.
For anyone asking, YES They do take clients who are in or have been bankrupt, entered a no asset procedure and so on. A caring bank that cares about the customer what Kiwibank used to be
