I ordered 2 garages in March 2025 and…

I ordered 2 garages in March 2025 and paid a deposit in April with a projected August delivery date. I called Sharon to advise that there was a few delays on site and I now wanted the garages delivered and erected on site the first two weeks in October. No problem she said. However to secure that date I was told I had to pay the order in full. I paid the final invoice on 9th of September. Sharon was asked to contact the site manager on the 13th October to confirm the bases were ready. She did not contact the site manager and when ever I called the office the message is '' The office is closed till monday'' Hmm there are 52 mondays in a year which one do they mean? There is no customer help or service unless they are taking your money. The company might be bankrupt for all I know. September 14th I phoned a neighbouring company who told me there are no vehicles on site and the gates were locked.
I'm very dissapointed. I live in the south of England and this was supposed to be part of a stress free move to Scotland. I wish I'd seen all the reviews before I placed my order. I chose this company because their web site quotes '' Concrete Garages Scotland are the largest concrete garage specialists in Scotland. We are the sole installers of the award-winning Hanson Garages range. We cover ALL of Scotland, including the Highlands and Islands.'' It looked like a respectable company and not some back street shed supplier but it would appear that fancy headed paper and web sites do not mean a good experience for the purchaser
Their headed paper shows 2 other addresses. One at Dobbies in Sandyholm. Dobbies say they left there in 2020 . The other is; Unit 10 Southend Drive Inverurie Business Park AB51 0ZH this site is closed with what looks like a formal notice pinned to the gates. I have a photo of this unit. So BUYER BEWARE
I had to give the company a final written warning prior to authorising a debt colleting company to return my money or install the garages to my satisfaction. The garaged were installed on the 21st/22 dec 2025 but not to my satisfaction. One garage is leaking, we were advised that the bases were wet because of bad weather. The site manager had them swept and dried before we arrived. One garage after the rain on 26dec was soaking wet and everything in it is now soaking wet.
We have tried calling the company every afternoon since 27 dec only to hear an answer machine say the office is closed till 1.00pm. I was promised that the guarantees would be in the post. They did arrive but so many get out clauses they are as leaky as the garages and not worth the paper they are printed on.
I am extremly dissapointed in the level of service received from this company. They are all freindly when taking your order but once they have your money you will be in for a hard time getting them delivered and installed.

I suggest you look elsewhere for your garage.

I suggest you look elsewhere for your garage. The 2 stars I have given are only because I did eventually get a garage. Over £11,000 for a small lean-to garage: I paid the £1,810 deposit on 31st January 2024 and £2,400 on 10th May 2024 for their imminent groundwork. I then paid the final £7,210 on 19th September 2024 and eventually I got a garage 8 months after ordering.
Concrete Garages Scotland has been a complete nightmare to deal with for the past 20 months! Dozens of their ‘planned dates’ for the groundwork were repeatedly cancelled, with delay after delay, excuse after excuse. It took them 8 months to eventually lay the concrete base which was initially scheduled for 6th May , but this & the dozens of their subsequent planned dates were all repeatedly cancelled with all sorts of excuses. The concrete base was eventually laid on 17th September 2025, over 4 months after taking the ' imminent' payment for it, No digging was done, no hardcore was laid, and no DPC was put down below the porous concrete. I complained and got £250 refunded from my £2,400 for them to lay a pre-mixed concrete load onto the ground.
Even now, a year after the install, I’ve been chasing them to resolve and fully complete their garage installation, as their itemised ‘weatherboard’ is missing and which is allowing water to come in under the door. They also have reneged on their promise to supply an electric motor as a form of recompense for all the delays & the hassle I have experienced. I suspect this is because I refused their high costs to fit the motor, saying I'd do it myself. Despite the ongoing frequent failed promises to get back to me, they are now completely ignoring my emails & my calls – hence prompting this late review.
The garage did arrive & was erected soon after CGS had laid the base, so the actual manufacturer's delivery & their installation was fine. All the delays & hassles were entirely with CGS. Over 70 emails & dozens of calls & issues still remain unresolved some 20 months on. If you already have a suitable base then your experience may be better, but I'd honestly go elsewhere.

Excellent Service & Build!

A very good experience all round.Workmen arrived on time and dismantled old concrete garage and took away all rubbish, erected Harris Fencing to secure my backyard. The groundworks and concrete were completed the following week, the Harris Fencing remained in place while the concrete took time to set approx two weeks as a lot of concrete was poured, workmen doing the demolishing and groundworks, were well mannered, polite and friendly, never stopped once, again site was left clean and secure. The build team arrived on time at 0730, and were gone by 10 oclock, didnt even stop for a teabreak!.. site was left clean with all debris taken away, polite friendly workers once again. There was some delays, mainly due to bad weather, but I was kept informed on a regular basis by email and phone, was also reimbursed £200 for the delays. Very pleased with my garage, and the extra effort the groundworks workmen put into it... Highly recommended to anyone thinking of a new garage!.. well done.

Disrespectful and rude

This company were doing work for a neighbour. They completely blocked my driveway and my other neighbours. When I asked them to move the lorry as I needed access to my driveway, the older man told me, that he got here first and not to give him a hard time. He was rude, then told me he would just move his lorry a bit back. The lorry is illegaly parked at a roundabout and on the kerb.
He moved it back, which then blocked my neighbour, she was also met with disrespect. When I called the company to make a complaint. It was a waste of time. They have no interest in the disruption they cause neighbours affected by work done in someone else’s house. So please as a courtesy to your neighbours do not use this company.
They also arrived before 7.30am but when I said this to the company spokeswoman when I called, she said that they were not breaking the law. She also told me that they have never had complaints but I can see from this that simply is not the case.

Don't do it!! There is nothing to recommend about this bunch.

Paid a deposit in May 2022, lead time given as Aug/Sep. Since then, nothing but delay after delay, excuse after excuse.

Eventually given a date for Feb 23, so dismantled our old garage and put things into storage. Then advised of yet another delay until Mar 23. After them firstly telling us they couldn't get the 'special' (?) concrete required (husband and I both work in construction so we knew this was bs), and then telling us it would be too cold for concrete (erm, +8 degrees C), we gave up and requested a full refund. Told it would take another 30 days.

No sign after 30+ days, so we contacted credit card company about a S75 claim. Ta daa, refund magically arrived.

Presumably CGS was still getting some heat from the credit card company, as they were then begging my husband to confirm that he'd received the refund (even though he had let the card company know).

Following their lead in communications, we let them stew for a few days before he confirmed by email, also stating that if they'd refunded within the 30 days he wouldn't have had to involve the card company. Their response? "We take on board your comments, but that's rubbish". Arrogant, much?

Just so you know the kind of people you'll be dealing with if you decide to go with this company.

Their response will probably be that I am not a customer of theirs, and technically I'm not - but my husband is (or was!).

07/06/2023 ETA: Just a few notes in response to CGS's reply, as they appear to believe they are infallible:

"we kept your husband fully informed of this at all times" - we heard nothing from CGS after paying the deposit on 09/05/22 until 24/08/22, at which time WE called CGS for an update and they said it would be Sept 22 for works. Again heard nothing further until WE called them on 24/09/22, at which time advised it would be Oct 22. Again heard nothing until 18/10/22 when WE contacted CGS and were told nobody was available. We received an email on 20/10/22 advising that works 'could' be postponed until January. Further calls were made by US to CGS on 02/11/22 and 08/11/22 (as nobody had called back, surprise). Clearly our idea of being kept "fully informed" is very different to that of CGS.

"8 degrees was not the forecasted temperature. At the time we had to postpone, there was snow and ice and the temperature was minus 5 degrees" - historic data shows that the temperature in our area between 15-17 March 23 (when the works should have taken place) was between 6 and 9 degrees C.

"With regards to the ‘special’ concrete, I don’t know where you have picked this up from as there was no ‘special’ concrete" - this was "picked up" from a call from Angela at CGS on 22/02/23; she said that because CGS could not get the 'special' concrete in time for the job, it would have to be postponed again. My husband advised Angela that this was nonsense, concrete is standard BSi spec, and with contacts in the construction trade, we would be able to order the concrete ourselves if necessary. Angela went to discuss with her manager. She then called back and agreed that they would, after all, be able to source the concrete and carry out groundworks between 15-17 March as previously agreed.

"however it would have had to be something special to lay it in minus 5 degree temperatures" - see above re. actual temperature mid-March. This comment is just typical of the snarky responses left for other reviewers who dare to call this company out for what they are.

"With regards to the refund, this was processed within 30 working days but unfortunately your husband requested money back from the credit card company before waiting the 30 working days" - we were advised 30 days, not 30 working days. Refund was requested in writing 10/03/2023, we did not contact the credit card company until 12/04/2023. And quite frankly, why should anybody have to wait an entire month for a refund in any event, let alone the six weeks CGS is now suggesting we should have waited?

"In terms of begging for anything, you are very much mistaken. When asking your husband to confirm receipt of monies we wanted to ensure safe receipt out of courtesy as any company would" - is that why there were emails and then an anguished voicemail chasing our confirmation, in which CGS insisted that we sent an email? Of course! It was all out of 'courtesy', and nothing at all to do with the fact that the credit card company wouldn't close the case until CGS could prove that they had refunded us by bank transfer.

Dear Reader, if you've made it this far, well done! I should just like to remind you of the 'courtesy' afforded us by CGS in their final email: "We take on board your comments, but that’s rubbish." That comment alone should tell you everything you need to know about this company. Good luck if you decide to patronise them, as you may well find yourself the one being patronised.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I would now like to take the time to give our side as there are two sides to every story. Yes, your husband was a customer of ours. Many of the negative reviews we receive are in fact not for our company but our name has been picked up. You can imagine this is somewhat frustrating. We did encounter some delays that were outside of our control and unfortunately this meant that we were running behind, however we kept your husband fully informed of this at all times. If you work in construction I am sure you will be aware that there can be unforeseen delays sometimes. We keep an eye on the temperatures in winter for concrete as, I’m sure with your knowledge of concrete you will be aware, you can’t lay it under a certain temperature. Plus 8 degrees was not the forecasted temperature. At the time we had to postpone, there was snow and ice and the temperature was minus 5 degrees. With regards to the ‘special’ concrete, I don’t know where you have picked this up from as there was no ‘special’ concrete however it would have had to be something special to lay it in minus 5 degree temperatures. With regards to the refund, this was processed within 30 working days but unfortunately your husband requested money back from the credit card company before waiting the 30 working days. In terms of begging for anything, you are very much mistaken. When asking your husband to confirm receipt of monies we wanted to ensure safe receipt out of courtesy as any company would. We hope that you managed to find something. Regards, Concrete Garages Scotland. Thank you once again for your lengthy review. We hope you managed to get something sorted. Regards Concrete Garages Scotland.

Do not give this company any money and…

Do not give this company any money and do not fall for the friendly sales pitch as this soon turns into cold unempathetic communication that has caused me untold stress and sleepless night.
I paid my deposit on 22/04/2022 for an instillation date of the week of 27/07/2022. This is 3 months from my order date but I was happy enough with this and that is why I went ahead.
I paid the remainder of nearly £5000 on the 11/07/2022. I was told at this stage that this would delay my build slightly as I hadn't realised that the payment was supposed to be 14 days before they took delivery. So sure enough the date got changed to the 4th August, then the 8th August then the 19th September. When they told me it wouldn't be until the week of the 19th of September I was very upset and only accepted because I had no choice. (They had advised me to demolish my garage in June so they could see if my base was OK. So I have had stuff lying around for weeks in my home and garden).
The final straw came when they moved the goalposts again and said it would be the 17th October 2022. I was losing all trust and respect for this company and this was partly confirmed by all the bad reviews on here. On the 13th September I cancelled the order and asked them to refund the monies I paid.
They agreed to cancel and told me it would take 30 days to process the return. Surprise surprise I did not receive my refund within the 30 day. I then gave them 7 more days to refund before further action. They still did not pay. I now found myself in the position of having to claim either through my credit card or small claims court. Never in my 60 years on this planet have I had to deal with such an unscrupulous company. Stay well clear

Not the best

Would not recommend this company, the only reason they are getting 2stars is because we do actually now have a garage. The sales man / director/ surveyor Robert arrived with the perfect sales pitch full of promise,we waited about 2months before the start of the build then the problems started nothing went as planned from the start from the guys who took down our old garage right through to the team who put in the self levelling internal floor ,it took almost 6 weeks for them to finish the job ,the actual erecting of the garage only took half a day,the only contact throughout was with Danni in the office.Overall not a good experience

Well worth the wait to get my new garage .

I was kept informed every month as to how things were going ,and I could understand why the delivery date was so hard to pinpoint , due to Covid . But it was well worth the wait when I saw my new garage , it looks so good I am really happy with it .

SHAMBLES…

we bought a £9,000 garage from concrete garages scotland four years ago - we were very happy with the build and the workmen - one year later the garage started to leak in one corner - phoned cgs regarding this and excuses came fast and furious - never seen anyone from cgs = now four years later one of the doors (double garage) the lock is now faulty and the door is opening with the wind - not very good for security - phoned cgs today to be told that the 10 years guarantee does not include the locks but we could buy the parts from them and do it ourselves
this company's after sales and guarantee is a shambles and not worth anything
PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

From start to finish excellent

From start to finish excellent. Kept me fully informed and updated me.
Planned and agreed my garage during Covid with no showroom visit. The staff were very helpful and talked me through the full process.
I agreed a very competitive price that included, delivery, installation and quality doors and windows.
I have to make mention of Sharon who kept me fully updated on my order and delivery dates etc.
The delivery team turned up when agreed time wise and got to work straight away. They installed and cleaned up and showed me around my new building. Also advised that if any problems to get in touch. They were very nice and couldn’t do enough.
I now have a garage that meets my needs and at a price I was happy with.
Sharon, thanks for everything and how you and your team handled my order from start to finish.
Best wishes.

I would not recommend using this firm

I would not recommend using this company as it has been an extremely stressful experience from start to finish. The initial sales pitch was great however it was downhill from there with promises to come out and start the build then excuse after excuse on the day. The garage itself is nice however the stress and inconvenience caused was definitely not worth it.

Professional

Excellent, professional service from start to finish. We ordered the Apex Royale & made a couple of changes along the way - which Concrete Garages were more than happy to accommodate. The staff are extremely knowledgeable in assisting/helping you decide which style of building to choose. The garage was erected within one day and we are extremely happy with it. No complaints whatsoever and I’m glad we didn’t fall for the ‘negative reviews’ which had been posted online.

Flabbergasted. A rip off merchant who gave me all my money back!

Well what can I say other than I am flabbergasted by this experience.
I ordered a new garage and had to pay everything up front, which I was not happy about having been ripped off by a bathroom & kitchen supplier in Kilmarnock previously, but again I paid. I was given a 12 week lead time. On week 14 I was told that they had forgotten it was a bank holiday and the ground work team would be out next week and a further 2 weeks later my garage would be delivered and erected. Having put all my belongings into a gazebo in week 12, thinking it would be short term, I was becoming more anxious. Ground team arrived this morning and the grumpy foreman turned out to be the company boss, but failed to mention this. The lads had a tidy up and the foreman said that he would erect my garage on the existing base. I was confused as I had paid an extra £550 to have my base extended as it was too small for the garage? I was told that the office would telephone me and I stated that I would look forward to that, as I would be seeking a refund from the £550 outlay. To my horror I received a telephone call from the office and I was told that they had been instructed to refund me all my money and that CGS would not be doing business with me.
I am now left high and dry with my belongings under a gazebo as we enter the winter months. It will take me at least another 12 weeks for a credible builder, who will be true to his word and follow through on the promise and contract agreed, to get another garage.
Apparently I am intimidating. Well for those of you who have met the owner (Mr Pat) I think it would be really hard to intimidate this gentleman. I have been refunded all my money, but I have been let down badly. The CGS contract is all about protecting the company and nothing about the customer. They have no morals or values, leaving a customer like this. Go with this company at your peril, but I would never recommended them to anyone. A joke of an outfit!

A perfect piece of work.

Customer care and service throughout was very good from the point of original enquiry to installation.
The office staff I spoke with were very helpful with every aspect of my enquiry and communication along the way was faultless - I was kept updated with progress regularly.
When it came to installation of the garage the 2 workmen were keen to get started and stopped only for a cuppa ' on the run' so to speak. The job was completed within 4 hours which was remarkable.
The finished job was just what I had expected with no faults or snagging required. One year later, the garage is still shipshape and doing the job I wanted of it.

Thanks to all at Concrete Garages Scotland for a great experience.

Concrete Garages Scotland Ltd - the Nobel Prize winner for excuses.

I read on the internet that we should be taking this lock down time to do the things that we have been putting off for a while. So I’m taking the time now to write this review about Concrete Garages Scotland Ltd that happened last year. I’m just going to give the short version, because the more I think about this escapade, the more my blood boils.

We needed a garage, so we went to Concrete Garages Scotland’s office in East Kilbride to see what was on offer, and basically to make sure that they were a legitimate company. Their office was impressive and they seemed to be in business a long time. To be honest, after the sales pitch, I was all for turning on heel and leaving, but my wife was pressuring me into getting a garage. Unfortunately, Sharon, the sales manager, just put my back up with her really un-customer friendly manner. It wasn’t so much what she said, it was the smirk, smug, pomposity and insincerity with which she said everything that annoyed me.

It seems that Sharon Macken, of Concrete Garages Scotland’s favourite get-out clause for bad reviews is “I’m sorry (the only time she ever apologises) but you don’t seem to be a customer of ours”. Well, I can assure you that I was a customer of CGS, but I never will be again, and nor will I recommend them. I reckon, though, that this company could be a good company, if they got rid of Sharon Macken, and employed a proper team effort, as it just seemed to me that every time that I called the company to find out what was happening, nobody could do anything without her say so. The build was straightforward and I was happy with the garage, but I have never known such a badly organised company, or spoken to such an egotistical narcissistic control freak as Mrs Sharon Macken, ever. A level par with Boris Johnson or Donald Trump.

For a start, the hard standing was a joke. The framing went up, and a truck delivered the aggregate to fill in the frame. There, the hole sat for a further eight months, and a gaping hole in the side of my hedge, which was open to every burglar in Paisley. Four months later, and many phone later, they arrived to fill the remainder with concrete. A further two months later, they arrived with the garage.

All in all, it took FOURTEEN MONTHS from paying a substantial deposit of several thousands of pounds, to completion of the garage. Even then, the garage was still not complete as we had to wait a further three weeks for them to fit the guttering. We called their office on many occasions to find out what was happening. Karen gave us every excuse under the sun from delivery problems, to “problems with other customers’ ground works”. It seemed that it was ok if you were getting a garage, but they haven’t a clue how to cope with any foundation problems. By Mrs Macken’s own admission, they never do site surveys, unless you pay for them. They are not engineers, so they don’t foresee any ground problems until they arise. Even then, it appears, you have to wait months for them to fix it. We paid nearly six thousand pounds up front for a hard standing, and we were sweating that our money could be lost if they went out of business. We felt as if we were pushed to the bottom of the pile every time. It got so bad trying to speak to Sharon, that we started calling her Sharon Pimpernel, because she was “never there” to speak to.

I would not recommend Concrete Garages Scotland.

Initially very happy with the build of…

Initially very happy with the build of my garage with regards to timescale etc. The garage itself is lovley looking, well as mush as a garage can. However the problem is any time it rains heavy water makes it's way in the eves and runs down the spines inside the garage. When I contacted concrete garages they said that there products arent waterproof. I though this was a given when you pay £3k for a brand new garage. Although they state is isnt waterproof they claim on there website thier garages are sealed for strength and unbeatable weather ressitance. If I was told when buying my garage that any time it rains heavy there will be leaks inside my garage theres no chance I would have bought it. Very disappointed . Poor service
