Extremely concerning experience with Contabo’s handling of DMCA and copyright infringement reports.
Multiple formal DMCA notices submitted regarding infringing content hosted on Contabo infrastructure. No response has been received - no acknowledgment, no follow-up, and no visible action taken. This reflects a significant failure in abuse handling procedures.
Contabo’s own policies state that illegal content is not tolerated and that abuse reports, including copyright violations, are subject to investigation and action. However, the complete lack of response suggests a disconnect between stated policy and actual enforcement.
Although Contabo operates from Germany, hosting providers offering international services are still expected to respond to valid copyright infringement notices in a timely and responsible manner. Failure to do so enables continued distribution of infringing material.

"SCAM WARNING! I cancelled my service on March 28th. Contabo support (Mohd/Eirini) lied and said I didn't. Then their system sent an email saying my server is being deleted today, yet they still charged me $16.05 for next month. Double billing and fraudulent support. Avoid at all costs!" I cancelled my service on March 28th and have email confirmation. However, Contabo still charged my credit card twice ($16.05) on April 9th.
The support team (Eirini) is lying, claiming I didn't cancel the VPS, while their own automated system sent an email today saying my server will be DELETED if I don't revoke the cancellation.
This is a blatant scam: Charging a customer for a month's service and then deleting the server immediately. Avoid this company at all costs! One of your services is about to expire

I had a very disappointing experience with Contabo, mainly because of their extremely poor customer support. While their pricing may seem attractive at first, the lack of proper support completely ruins the overall experience.
Whenever I faced issues with my server, the response time was painfully slow. In some cases, it took days just to receive a basic reply, and even then the answers were often generic and not helpful. It felt like they were not really interested in resolving customer problems properly.
There is also a clear lack of urgency when it comes to critical issues. For a hosting provider, downtime or technical problems should be handled quickly, but Contabo’s support team does not seem to prioritize customers’ needs.
Additionally, communication is frustrating. There is no reliable real-time assistance like live chat, and email responses are delayed and sometimes unclear. This makes troubleshooting much harder, especially if you are running a business or important project.
Overall, I would not recommend Contabo if you value reliable and responsive customer support. Cheap pricing is not worth it when you are left alone during serious technical issues.

There is no real-time live chat or instant support option. Everything relies on ticket submissions, and responses can take far too long, especially when the issue is urgent. This can be extremely frustrating and may seriously impact anyone running time-sensitive services.
For a hosting provider of this size, not having accessible live support is a major drawback. Reliability isn’t just about uptime — it’s also about how quickly you can get help when something goes wrong.
I would not recommend Contabo to anyone who values responsive customer support.

The support went well, but the process wasn't so great! Some of your emails ended up in spam, and this time the email informing you of an increase did. When the payment reminder arrived, I saw the old price in my account session, and the first support contact told me it was an email error and to ignore it. Just four days earlier, after another reminder, I was told there had been an increase, and only then did I see the updated price. You should probably check that when you send a reminder, the user session should display the current prices, not the old ones!
