My first visit to Costco Täby in April 2025 was disappointing. The range was very limited, and many shelves were empty. Mostly huge packs that only an extended family could get through in time, rather than smaller units – say, 50–150g/ml – in larger quantities, which would keep for much longer and be easier to manage. Much of what’s on the shelves is out of reach or can only be reached with assistance. Sorry, not everyone is 170–200 cm tall. A step stool, like the ones many proper wholesalers provide, is a small thing, as is a seat here and there.

On top of that, there’s only one size of shopping trolley. How am I supposed to lift a 20kg sack of flour into a tall, then full, wire trolley? Where will I put the other things I need? Every wholesaler I know provides large, flat trolleys to load and transport heavy sacks easily. And they’re easy to scan at the checkout.

My second visit in November 2025 was similar. When you drive over 500 km to get to Costco and many shelves are empty, you regret ever getting in the car.

Experiences: No choice available. E.g. seaweed: only one pack size, only one brand, only one variety, no variations. Same with many other items. I expect significantly more from a wholesaler. It wouldn’t hurt America in the slightest if it were to think outside the box. Haven’t they learnt anything from the Walmart disaster in Germany?

My last visit for the time being will be next week. If my experience is confirmed and I again only get 10–15% of the perfectly normal items I need, I will not renew my membership and will classify Costco as a misleading packaging - promises much and delivers little.

They have some good products at reasonable price, but they have also many things with poor quality. For example all bens in can I've purchased so far have been of very low quality. But the worst thing is their service. They never answer any questions sent by mail or through their application. None of my purchases visible in their app. And there is no internet connection (wifi or mobile data) in their store (Malmö).

I am impressed by Costco in Malmo. I live in Denmark and head over 2x a month and have to say that I find the experience pleasant. The gas prices are very good and that is just the start.

I really like the produce, meats, bakery and dairy departments. They have a good selection and very good quality.

I like that I can get Zoegas coffee beans, Nando's sauce, ranch dressing and many other things that I can't really get in Denmark.

They have a decent clothing selection and Sketcher shoes at a good price.

All in all, I am fine with paying the price to shop here and buy in bulk. Good quality products and selection, especially compared to Denmark.

Several times the experience at the kassa has been unpleasant due to the staff. Rude and throwing the purchased product so packaging and fruit and vegetables get damaged and thus unusable when you get home. Terrible bemötande when there was a spillage. Also very rude when their payment terminals failed. Then the "food court" dirty, chaotic, unpleasant staff, once the pizza was burnt so it had to be binned. Today they ran out of paper for the print out receipt and almost refused to give me what I paid for. Mouldy mango smoothie on another visit. Horrid place best avoided.

I’ve been to Costco Malmö a few times now, and I’m honestly impressed – the staff are so friendly and helpful!

It’s a completely different experience compared to ICA, Willys, ICA Maxi, Lidl, etc., where you often feel like you're bothering the staff just by showing up.

Sometimes only one checkout is open at those places, and the atmosphere can feel a bit cold or even hostile.

At Costco, it’s the opposite welcoming, service-minded, and with staff who genuinely seem happy to help.
