Their bad reviews from 2019 are still bad in 2025. I stopped using counter path since 2022 and they still bill my account, I have sent a ticket request, and stopped my account since 2022, cause they wouldn't stop billing my account.
It is so stupid that they make it difficult to cancel the service. They hide so nobody can find it.

I hadn't used the product in almost a year, when I had to purchase it for my company intially I didn't know I was signing up for an auto renew. They send the renewal notice, and I cancel right away but states my service will remain for the year and they won't refund. You know a product isn't that great when they play these kind of games. Most companies give you a few days notice before they renew so you have a chance to accept the renewal, CounterPath Bria DOES NOT do that!

CounterPath false ads Bria Solo…
CounterPath misrepresents Bria Solo softphone as "a FREE app". It's not free to use. CounterPath has removed the free option, yet continues to advertise falsely.
Poor technical support!
Poor technical support! We have 12 staff members that use Bria when working remotely. Counterpath support is only email based they do not offer live support, no phone calls and they cannot remote into your PC for quick support resolution. I have one staff member that has been trying to resolve a Bria issue for 5 days. We will not be renewing our contact. We will look for vendors that actually offer live prompt support.
Poor Support
Prompt replies, but poor systems and no actual empathy for customers.
A former team member used the Bria Solo - which came up for renewal. No advanced warning of renewal was emailed, simply a credit card charge on the anniversary. As soon as we received notification of the charge we contacted support to advise the renewal was not authorised or required as the staff member has moved on, requesting a refund. Support would not refund renewal, forcing us to dispute the charge with credit card company.
Softphone works well on android
Had a lot of problems trying to find a softphone which will run on Android and remain connected to my sipgate VOIP provider. Eventually tried the Bria softphone and it's working really well - it was very easy to set up and always remains connected. Nice product.
Reasonable but overshadowed by rudeness
Our business uses Bria 5 licences for VoIP in several countries.
Recently Counterpath have stopped supporting this product, and are moving to a subscription service, Bria Teams.
They did offer a once off refund for Bria 5 licences, which was nice.
However, the staff person with whom this conversation progressed was very rude and dismissive. Every question asked was met with a terse response, as if we should be lucky to work with Counterpath.
Our company had only recently purchased 5 more Bria 5 licences (within months of them being phased out), for approximately $250.
Our entire offered refund for migrating 20 PERMANENT Bria 5 licences to Bria Teams was a mere $500~.
When I specifically asked about a potential refund for just those 5 licences, as they were only purchased recently, my email was ignored.
After following up 12 days later, the reply was a single line, without apology, or without any regard to the conversation I had been having with this staff person for 2 months. They bother to put in a modicum of effort or care.
Not to mention all the other careless and haughty replies we received throughout this conversation.
We will be continuing to use our permanent licences, and looking for a better product that actually cares about their customers when we have to move.
No issues, great support, please expand your knowledge base
Honestly, I'm surprised by some of the reviews. I wouldn't say customer support was rude or dismissive, I did not encounter any problems except some things in the knowledge base were missing, so I had to ask how to do a thing via ticket. The response was fast, the follow-up in time, too. I would consider their support team one of the good ones.
But then again, the bad reviews are from 2019 so maybe they cleaned up their act.

no no no, I trusted this software and it let me down. I Purchased the Bria for my Macbook Air. Performed a soft test at home, I didn't want to carry the Digium Voip Phone with me since I was flying across the country.
I got to my hotel and booted up my Macbook Air and the software was worthless.
Calls were disconnected, I couldn't hear the clients, clients couldn't hear me, static on the calls. Troubleshooted my network.
I was using the Hotel WIFI, Tmobile , AT&T, Verizon and on the networks I experienced the same,
I even Bonded my connections since I have an LTE Bonded Router with AWS into one big Pipe and same issue.
On the plus side before I left on my trip my wife packed the big phone in my luggage as a precaution, I took it out of the suitcase plugged it in, and low and behold it connected it up, disabled Bria and clear crystal calls. If I could give the software negative stars I would don't trust this software with your business.

Bria 5
Have two lines terminating on Bria 5 on Windows 7 and also on Android phone. Bria works on both platforms as required. Easy to set up, and easy to use. Great softphone. Value for money price on both platforms.

Quite okay but with similar bugs since Version Bria 1 until today versions
Bria for IP-Phoning works fine. But since the new Google Contacts Update in 2019 the address import doesnt work well anymore. The new added Google Contacts dont appear anymore in Bria. Counterpath needs to update the software. There is also another bug: All signs of copied telefonnumbers which are not numbers or + are not erased by dealing and lead to an unworking connection. It is an easy workaround just to erase all the signs by the software and not by hand. Especially the long or longer Minus (- vs. – vs. —) which is used in telefonnumbers in Emals Signatures and on Websites quite often will bring a connection failure in Bria and must be erased by hand. If I compare with VoipConnect all this failures are unknown. If Conuterpath will fix this simple failures in Bria I will give 4 stars in future. There are also some other bugs f.i. if a number is double in two contact Bria will not find i at all and will erase both contacts totally from the address list - that means a double contact is not readable by this software. Another Problem: If I search for Contacts which have an letter of another language like german (letters like ä, á, ö which are common in Names) Bria will not find them or show them when the number is calling. There are many similar bugs like that and all this problems exist already from the first Version Bria 1 until today and got never fixed until today.

Application bria5 is missing some of its icons on my Iphone 8Plus, the application works and i can't complain otherwise.

I made a big mistake purchasing CounterPath products
Support is slow and dismissive, product is buggy and slow, and for kicks they put an EOL on purchased software that actually stopped it working, forcing us to buy new versions. Nearly criminal IMO.
