Poor ability to deliver product in quoted timeline or communicate with customers

Prior to ordering, I was told by Claire Thompson the tent I wanted was in stock and the timeline would be 1 week to pack and 5-8 days for shipping and delivery.
At $7100 (incl tax and delivery), this was $4200 more than ShelterLogic, but half the delivery time as it was already made, so I ordered.
Responses to the timeline queries after the second week after order were met with “we’ll email you tracking when it ships” and did not improve.
5 weeks after ordering, the correct cover finally arrived, but attached to a customer from Ontario’s metal framework (I’m in BC)! The 2 tents are completely different, so I had to repackage and secure onto the pallet and wait for our pallets to be exchanged cross-country.
After another 3 weeks of overpromises and under-deliveries from manager Ian Kilfoil, I finally had all the correct parts to my tent in hand. 2 months after my original order date and four times as long as the original timeline. I had to delay an incoming wood order - and my whole project - as I needed the tent to be in position first.
Ian claimed to want to make my experience right. 4 weeks ago. Unsurprisingly, I never heard back from him.
Cover-Tech owner Jason Cox leads by example, as he’s never responded to any email or owned his company communication and order fulfillment failures. For this price, I expected better.
Mistakes happen. But, not once proactively communicating with your customer (blown timeline / wrong product shipped / re-blown timeline) or making amends is inexcusable.

My attitude with reviews has always been that there will be fake highs and cranky lows and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. BUT. In this company’s case, please read the negative reviews here and if you see a pattern over the years, decide/plan accordingly. Unless you have a very long timeline and no expectations of communication or competence, I have to recommend looking elsewhere.

CoverTech Shelter - Not for Northern Ontario Winters

I had done a fair amount of research to find what I hoped was a sturdy, solid well made shelter to store my boat in during the winter. I purchased and erected a CoverTech 25' shelter in the summer of 2019. Last week my neighbour sent me a photo of the shelter; it had collapsed due to the snow. The cover itself did not tear, it was the metal structure that gave way. When you read, CoverTech's information, they suggested that they are designed for Canadian winters. Let me tell you that is not the case. CoverTech has no warranty for snow or wind damage. For the cost, I could have replaced the shelter with a competitors shelter every two years and been ahead.

RV garage

I bought an RV garage. Promised in 5 weeks, delivered in 10 with no sensible reason and certainly no apology. Very frustrating experience and poor communication.
However, when it arrived, everything was correct and well packaged. Very pleased with initial quality and design, based on a few weeks after assembly.
Assembly instructions could be much better. Surprising considering that so many reviews have been saying the same thing for a long time.

I bought a portable garage in July…

I bought a portable garage in July 2014. By July 2015 the seams started to pull apart. By 2016 the whole outer shell started to wear (thin brittle patches everywhere). I ordered a replacement shell in 2017 and it has failed again - 1 year later. They tried to up sell me the heavier tarp as a replacement while conveniently ignoring the fact that I have a piece of useless tarp that should be replaced at the manufacturers cost - not mine. Will not do business with them again, and I would recommend that you stay away too. Still waiting for Jason Cox to call me for a full refund. Just stating the truth here....

Cannot recommend their products

Cannot recommend their products. Frame is too weak to withstand typical Canadian winters. After 3 winters, with the structure that I have from them, it has issues with the frames bending on the door end of the structure. Damage has been caused by wind. With the shape of the structure snow does not stay on the top of the structure.

In my opinion the gauge of the steel is not sufficient and the amount of ribs is insufficient. My neighbors inexpensive ShelterLogic structure, that is the same height and width, has held up in the same area for 5 years without an issue.

Their claims that they have the strongest frames in the industry is false advertisement. There are other companies making similar products with thicker steel frames.

It is unfortunate that they will not stand by their statements with a proper warranty on the frame.

Oh well roughly 300 people viewed my structure this year alone, and can easily see the brand name on it. Until it fails completely it will stay up.

my 20x30 tarp garage.

Once I received my 20x30 tarp garage, it was very easy to put together and went up faster than I thought. It looks very tough when it’s all together. The roleup door works wonders.the anchors that hold the unit down is amazing. Thank-you Cover-tech.com

I had no problem contacting Cover-Tech

I had no problem contacting Cover-Tech. They answered all my questions - easy to talk to and very professional! The product is first rate - made in Canada is a bonus. I absolutely recommend Cover-Tech over the 'big box' store tents.

Excellent service and product

Excellent service and product. Just what we needed for our deck. This is a quality awning. We've seen awnings offered for less at big box stores, but we're confident that the extra we paid is well worth it. We ordered the awning to put next to an existing awning and we were able to match the fabric colour and scallop pattern on the end.
