Background first.
I am 71 years old, an ex smoker with a history of poor dental health.
I reached a stage where many of my teeth were so poor that I had difficulty eating. Luckily I am not vain but the gaps were becoming so extensive that I looked a sorry sight.
Despite my advancing years I decided to invest in my teeth.
I undertook a consultation with Vinny Vaithianathan at Cox and Hitchcock, who was highly recommended by a friend.
The process was long , a year plus, and financially not insignificant BUT, this was the best decision I have made since my retirement a good few years ago.
At every stage Vinny and his excellent dental assistants were awesome.
Whilst my modelling days are behind me, I am now able to eat comfortably and am no longer self conscious about my facial appearance.
I am smiling more and am genuinely thrilled with the outcome and investment!

I had an old implant that needed replacing and was a little anxious about going through a similar procedure.
I needn't have worried however as the treatment I received was caring, reassuring and professional throughout.

I attended an emergency appointment today with Lewis Mainwaring. He diagnosed a cracked tooth and infection and offered different treatment options. He explained my options clearly and in detail which was greatly appreciated.
I chose to have an extraction which was undertaken very quickly and efficiently. Lewis understood my requirements for alternative anaesthetic and made sure that I could feel no pain. My roots (being curly) also had the potential to make the extraction complex, but Lewis managed this with no difficulty.
The entire process was completed within 20 minutes. I felt no stress or anxiety- It was brilliant!

I have terrible teeth, always have, all my life. Nothing but trouble. You name it, I’ve had it done. Been going to Cox and Hitchcock on Cardiff Road since it was run by Mr Ash 50 years ago. When he retired he said I will leave you with one of my top students, Sian. I still see Sian regularly. She is always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and explains everything well. I have also seen Kevin, Vinny and Joe, and a lady dentist at their Llanthewy Road practice and I think all staff are superb, they do an amazing job. Always try and fit you in if it’s an emergency, explain everything properly and are clear and upfront about their pricing. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Rang Hitchcock dental 7-7-2025 explained two of my fillings had fallen out which is normal for this dentist, and I was getting pain from hot and cold liquids and one filling is also sharp and catching on my tongue.
Offered an appointment 10-10-2025 which would be a check up but was assured the dentist would then get me in quite quickly to replace the fillings that had fallen out.
So waited three months and had my check up today at 11:25 which went well paid £20 for x-rays.
Then the receptionist told me it would be a few weeks, but then said as I was not a private patient I would have to wait until next year to have my fillings and it's all the fault of the NHS rules they have to follow.
