The hotel is 60 years old and still has a look of the times. There is no lift to the upper floor. It is, clearly, popular with tour companies as well as independent guests, but therein lies the main p... See more

Pity this hotel is now in the Britania group

This hotel was okay but having booked in advance I felt they could have informed us that to get a space at the pool you needed to book well in advance. I called the day before and was told the pool was booked for the following 3 days, people were booking a week in advance so therefore we didn't get in. I should have cancelled my reservation as there wasn't much else to do. I appreciate coronavirus has made things difficult but dining room staff did not appear to know what they were doing with the covid19 rules. I have never seen so many tables that need clearing and floors needing swept too, all while staff were hanging around doing nothing. At dinner and at breakfast there was rubbish on the floor empty jam cartons, napkins, tea bag, spillages on floor that could easily have caused a tripping or slipping hazard not to mention unhygienic. The food too was a bit like school dinners just thrown on the plate. A man in a suit who appeared to be someone in authority manager perhaps, came into dining room and kitchen spoke happily with staff then went back out so he didn't even notice the mess. The staff in the hotel were all very nice, we had a snack in the lounge in the afternoon and it was nice and the staff there seemed to have more pride in what they were doing.

I have stayed at a couple of Britania hotels before and the staff have always been nice almost as if they are making up for the the Britania rules they have to comply with !
I doubt I would stay at a Britania hotel in the future as they don't seem to keep things updated.
which is a shame for the Coylumbridge Hotel as it was much better when it was a Hilton.

Wow just read that you sacked all your staff due to the Corona virus then demanded they leave their accommodation immediately what kind of low life scum does that to another human being?

Would it have hurt you to have allowed them to stay on to remain safe at their accommodation till this all blows over.

I hope when this is all over the word gets around and people treat you as you have treated your staff.

Stay empty. you lousy piece of S**t

A hotel with no moral code for its own staff. Avoid

Ref theguardian com/uk-news/2020/mar/20/scottish-hotel-sacks-12-staff-over-coronavirus-making-them-homeless
This is clearly managed by staff with no thought to the safety and well being of their own staff, so why would they look after you!

Below is from The Guardian.
Scottish hotel sacks 12 staff over coronavirus making them homeless
he owners of a Highland hotel that has sacked staff and made them homeless during the coronavirus outbreak have been roundly condemned.

More than a dozen workers at the Coylumbridge hotel near Aviemore received a letter on Thursday informing them management was “taking the latest government advice” and that staff employment had been terminated, with those who live at the hotel complex asked to leave the premises immediately.

The letter stated: “Taking the latest government advice, this letter is to confirm that with effect from 19 March 2020, your employment has been terminated and your services are no longer required. You are asked to vacate the hotel accommodation immediately, returning any company property.”

Alvarito Garcia, from Madrid, who has worked at the hotel – which is part of the Britannia Hotels group – for nearly two years, told BBC Radio Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland that staff had no warning they were about to lose their jobs.

Garcia said he was unsure if he would be able to return to Spain because of the travel restrictions and that he would have to live in a tent until his food ran out.
