Don’t be cheated by the Crab and Lobster management!
‘Cheated’ isn’t a term I’d associate with this restaurant, but our experience left us feeling just that!
My partner and I made a booking having seen the Set Sunday Lunch menu with two or three courses for on their website, to celebrate my partner's birthday. Having travelled from Leeds, we were given menus but realised that it was the al a carte menu. I asked one of the staff for the set menu and was told that the set menu offer was no longer available. When I asked why and why we hadn't been informed, another member of staff explained that the set menu offer had just been withdrawn and that the menu on the website was only a sample and was subject to change. If we wanted to eat, we would need to pay the al a carte price.
The result was nice food but a sour taste at having to pay considerably more than we’d budgeted for, a disappointment shared by a number of other guests. This disappointment paled into insignificance when the Restaurant Manager and then the General Manager, refused to return my phone calls or answer my emails when I asked for an explanation and perhaps a small refund to recognise our disappointing experience. Was it a supply problem? Staff shortages? Cash flow issues? I’m sure there must have been a simple explanation – if only the Crab and Lobster management felt that we mere customers deserved to be informed.
