My son struggles to get his haircut he hasn’t had a cut since before August when we had to leave without a haircut because he’s had a major meltdown (and I had a wobble too🤣)

I come across Craig on Instagram and he is a neurodivergent barber based in Bolton He is truly amazing at what he does with the asd community and it shows in his work🙌🏼

Our 1st visit he managed to cut one piece of hair whilst getting hit, pinched, kicked and screamed at, my son was so unsettled and was having a major meltdown. However i was leaving the shop feeling so positive and completely comfortable i did not feel judged due to my son attacking craig as he ensured me its a fear response but we will get a cut even if it takes 9 visits that one cut was a step in the right direction!

A month after and we went to his 2nd visit to see Craig yesterday and he managed to do a quick cut!! After 15 minutes of crying and lashing out saying he was scared and he wanted to go home he got his haircut without me having to hold him or pin him down, we didn’t manage the comb or a cut on the sides or the back but it’s the little wins and my son left so happy and with no tears!🥹💙

Anyone with children with ADS and you’re struggling to get a haircut like I was with Riley please contact Craig. It is the best decision I’ve ever made and like craig says every child or adult with any disability deserves to have a haircut🤍

I'd never been anywhere to get my hair cut before so I was pretty nervous, but Craig was understanding and chill to be around. It's refreshing to be around somebody who gets that hair services don't need to be gendered. I just felt like someone going to get their hair cut rather than it being the typical vibe of salons being for women and barbers being for men. For me, this was a big weight off.

Craig explained the things they were doing and why, and this was reassuring because I'm not confident with hairstyling or haircare stuff. I'm definitely happy with my results and will be making future appointments at Craig's Barbers. GG, I have already recommended to my partner.

It was our first visit to craig. We were looking for a new barber to cut my son’s hair due to ours emigrating to Australia. We weren’t expecting a haircut on our first visit as it takes our son a long time to build up that trust to let someone near him, let alone with a sharp pair of scissors. Well I was proved wrong, within a few minutes our son was allowing Craig to comb his hair. Such a relaxed, calm environment and Craig took everything at our son’s pace, listening to him and responding to his cues. Towards the end he became a little overwhelmed and was asking when it would be over, Craig counted down with him the last two snips of the scissors and was happy to follow him wherever he felt most comfortable. Definitely will return, it’s a weight off our mind knowing we’ve found a supportive inclusive space for our child in a world that’s not always accepting. Thanks Craig.

We recently came to Craig for an additional needs service. Craig was absolutely brilliant with our son & we managed to get his hair cut with no trouble. Can’t wait to return and we’re looking forward to our hair cutting journey with Craig.

We came to Craig for the first time as recommended by our health visitor. It was such a stress free experience and our son left happy rather than distressed.
Brilliant hair cut and experience we will definitely be bringing him on a regular basis.

What a wonderful experience we have just had with Craig. My son is autistic and has reached a stage where I can no longer cut his hair as he doesn’t stop moving! This was no problem whatsoever for Craig though, and my son left with a wonderful haircut in less than 30 minutes. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful space for neurodivergent individuals to feel safe and comfortable in. I’ll be setting my alarm for when your diary next opens! Thanks again.

Our little boy is autistic and finds haircuts very distressing. Craig was so calm and patient with him. It is the calmest that I have ever seen our little boy whilst having his hair cut. Big thank you to Craig - we’ll definitely be coming back

Me and my daughter visited Craig’s shop today for my daughter’s hair cut and was instantly greeted with a warm welcome, Craig goes above and beyond for all his clients! We will definitely be returning, highly recommend Craig🤩

My 3 year old doesn’t like people he doesn’t know to come near him and Craig is lovely and has a calming presents about him. Works really well with young children

We visited Craig’s barbers and after numerous times of attempting to get it cut I didn’t expect us to be able to have it done.
Craig was extremely patient with our 2 year old and we finally had his hair cut.

Our little boy is autistic and in the past has really struggled when having his haircut. We’ve been to see Craig this morning for the first time and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough! He was so patient with our little boy, understood his needs and was so kind which lead to him having his first ever haircut meltdown free! We will definitely be back! This was my first visit to Craig’s barbershop with my son, Max (7 with ASD). Craig was fantastic. He asked about Max, conversed with him (as much as Max would allow!) and made the whole experience a brilliant one. We will definitely be going back and I would highly recommend.

Craig is an amazing barber and fully knows what he’s doing. My son has a hard time trusting people and immediately trusted Craig. Craig was patient, kind and considerate and did an amazing job. My
son asked Craig about his job and why he does it and Craig told him all about it. 100% returning to Craig in the future and I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

This is the 2nd time I have taken my 2 year old son to Craig. In between I have taken him to other places which resulted in full on melt downs. Nobody has managed to cut his hair. Craig is so patient, calm and has such a gentle nature with him without fussing. My son has allowed him to cut his hair with no tears or meltdowns. Definitely would recommend to anyone! X

After cutting our son’s hair since he was 2 (now 7), after a number of traumatic experiences we never thought we’d ever be able to get his haircut during the day without it being traumatic. We’ve been coming to Craig for 6 months, booking monthly appointments for consistency, and can happily say after just this short time Ben had his first full hair cut today. Craig is so understanding, patient and kind, not just for our son but for us as parents too. I hope Craig knows just how special he is to SEN families like us. For all the parents out there that felt like we did 6 months ago, there is hope, you just need to find the right person. We cannot thank you enough Craig!

After many traumatic experiences with getting my little boys hair I can now finally say today was a breeze! My little boy is currently on the ASD pathway, Craig was great and took his time cutting his hair reassuring him along the way whilst he played with the toys available in the shop. The thought of taking him for a hair cut fills me for anxiety and I can now say that feeling is gone! No tears, no meltdowns just a calm experience. I would 100% recommend and I will be returning for my boys future hair cuts.

We visited Craig to get my sons first hair cut. I'd held off getting his hair cut for a while as my son is neurodivergent and a handful. I saw Craig on Tiktok, showcasing how he gives hair cuts to individuals with additions needs and I thought, perfect! I booked online, selected the service I needed and that was it, everything was really simple. We travelled about 11 miles to the salon, it was easy to find with plenty of side streets to park in. Craig is warm and friendly, very welcoming and understanding. He pretty much chased my son all over the salon to cut his hair, and he did a fabulous job. My son didn't even realise he was getting his hair cut; he was too distracted by all the sensory toys on offer!
All in all, a brilliant experience for both me and my son and we will definitely be returning.

More than anything I was looking for a barber to confidently cut Sebs curls but having seen Craig in a couple of the SEN groups I follow, I was pleased to be able to take Seb to a more relaxed barbers.
Safe to say, we can’t go back to a regular barber after today 😆
Seb has until now been just about able to cope with an appointment at a regular barbers. I had stand by him and constantly reminding him to sit up, sit still, stop wiggling, concentrate on keeping still, stop chewing the cape…… the list goes on! He would manage it but it’s stressful for everyone, not least the barber!
Today at Craig’s, Seb spent a few minutes playing with the toys both before and after his haircut. He wasn’t asked to keep still once and the banter between them was hilarious! 100% safe to be himself.

The cut is exactly what I asked for and thought it would be and I am looking forward to achieving some huge hair goals for Seb with Craig’s expertise.

Took my son for his first haircut and Craig was fantastic. He was very patient and kind. Would highly recommend!
