Creovanta - "Annabelle Childers"

A certain Annabelle Childers approached me with a possible voice over job in German about malnutrion. Her mail first landed in my spam folder, and when I discovered it 10 days later and answered, that was no problem at all (first clue that this was not a realistic job). I had a look at the website from Creovanta, and it seemed very uncomplete and not trustworthy.
Also, the job requirements seemed to be written by AI.
But the since the communication with her seemed professional and personal, and the payment was so excellent - 6.000,00 brithish pounds! (shouldn't have falled for that!), I thought I would give it a shot.
My luck was, that I was on holiday at that time, and could only start in a week's time. In the meantime, I got a scam alert mail from Bodalgo and started searching for her online, and discovered on LinkedIn that others had been tricked.
It seems the scam is: you deliver half the script, where according to the PO you should be paid 3.000 pounds. You will then get an email from a "bank", where you are asked to pay a certain fee before getting your money. This fee is the scam.

Malnutrition - High payment - Scam

I got the same assignment about Malnutrition.
They offer 6000,- pounds.

But: Website doesn't seem legit, there is no VAT-number and the assignment doesn't look really formal (some weird 31-page pdf).

Please help to ban this.

shady scam

This week I got a job from ‘Annabelle Childers’ from Creovanta, with an address in New Zealand. Her offer was much higher than my initial fee, for 90 minutes about malnutrition. A certain Annabelle Childers does have a profile on LinkedIn as a reporter, but she seems to have nothing to do with this scam. Apologies to the real Annabelle!

I should have known it was too good to be true. I was too greedy and I accepted the assignment, because the script, job description, NDA and the correspondence seemed truly legit.

I delivered the first 45 minutes of audio, together with my invoice. The audio was accepted right away, even with a believable request to slightly slow it down in the second part, which I should record after the first payment would arrive.

The same day an email from a bank on the Cayman Islands arrived, stating “your pending payment remains on temporary hold pending the final compliance clearance required to complete the release of your funds. To proceed, a refundable compliance deposit of 163 GBP is required.” I was asked to get into a live chat with the bank to confirm, which I didn’t.

I reached out to Annabelle, because she seemed so polite and professional, but she kept on trying to convince me that this was the regular procedure. I am definitely not going to pay anything. Now that I am asking for things like references and a copy of the deduction on her bank account: *crickets*

Lesson learned!

Scam

Had the same problem that is described here and on linkedIn. Annabelle Childers from the company Creovanta contacted me for a Voice Over for childmalnutrition.
Fortunately I didnt do the whole work and discovered the scam, but the procedure is the same. Asking for a voice over within a tight timelimit for a ridiculous huge amount of money.
I was beliving it at first, because the contact is high professional, they have knowledge about technical requirements and the script is, while not great, believable.
As far as I'm informed, the scam goes on like this: You deliver the first half of the script and then receive 3000 GBP. But You need to open an account on a different bank and send around 200 GBP to activate it.
I lost a few hours of work. It was a learning experience. Make sure not to lose Your money and block any Email from different employees from Creovanta.

Crovanta.org is Scam

Crovanta.org is Scam (and was reportet as such also on LinkedIn.)
I'm a voiceover artist from germany and was contacted by "A. Childers" (seems like others were contacted by "C. Kristian"). I suggested in order to build some mutual trust (I told them about negative reviews a had read) to deliver 2 Minutes of audio first an then receive 2% of the payment in advance. Never heard of them again since. Take care guys.. ;)
