Deceptive, untrustworth and misleading

Have confidence in your own abilities. I clicked on the 'free review' on CV library and was really impressed with the feedback I received the following day. Initially I took offence, but then opened my mind to the fact this was professional guidance to improve my CV, so i stripped it back and re wrote/configured it entirely, taking 4-5 hours of my time, but i was left with a document that i felt was lacking and weak- I wouldn't even consider hiring me. I was super impressed that for a free service the feedback was so detailed. I then found on trust pilot poor reviews which had MY 'personalised' feedback word for word.

Applying for jobs and going for interviews can be a challenging experience, I haven't applied for a new job for 7 years, my confidence is already wobbly and i feel vulerable without being told my attempt at cv writing is 'visually uneven' and i've used 'too many bullet points' blah blah blah. My previous CV has got me many job interviews in the past, so must have an impact on the hiring manager.

Don't let this company make you feel you aren't good enough. They just want your £100 to write your CV for you, one which is probably a generic template that they paste your name on and hiring managers have read time and time again.

A decent hiring company or recruitment agent will consider your visually uneven CV regardless and consider you because of the content.

I hope this review prevents anyone else wasting their time being made to feel incompetent.

Professional cv writers worth consideration but..

As someone who has read several books on writing cv's, I recently received a free summary appraisal of my cv and was unusually, very impressed with the feedback details, suggestions and improvements and it was obvious someone had actually read through the cv in some detail picking up some errors and highlighting areas of improvement.

The suggestions about taking out education dates (for an older worker), formatting the document differently and maintaining consistency and most importantly, to frame oneself as an achiever rather a 'doer' through the use of 'power' words was particularly useful.

The cost for cv knowhow to produce a personalised cv is £100 which for a professional looking for a career move might be money well spent but I cannot vouch for them beyond their free appraisal.

Really poor quality

Really poor service. For a company whose reason for being is dealing in words, the CV I was sent was full of bad grammar, trite phrases that made little sense and, on occasion, bore little resemblance to my career and skills. Even after feedback, I got much the same back.
Really disappointing experience.

Avoid

Here’s a snippet of what I received from my free review:

This free CV evaluation is intended to give you an honest, straightforward assessment with some suggestions to help in your job search. I personally review hundreds of CVs each month so I'm able to provide insight into how you compare to other job seekers competing for the same positions.
Visual Presentation and Organisation
We've all been told that looks don't matter as much as substance, but in the case of your CV this just isn't true. I found your design to be visually uneven. The appearance is not polished, and it doesn't say "high potential" as your experience suggests. Remember that your CV is your marketing tool. It's the first impression a potential employer has of you.
I liked your use of bullets to add emphasis, but you probably want to consider limiting them in some areas to increase the impact to the employer. If they see too many bullets, they might find it difficult to zero in on the most important information. Size and type of bullets are also a consideration. Although seemingly minor, visual impact of a CV is the key to ensuring that an employer reads it thoroughly.

If you copy and paste any of this wording into google you will see that there are results where the exact text has been used elsewhere. In particular most of these websites refer to these as scam companies.

The reviews intention is to make your CV look bad and make them look like the experts so you are more likely to pay the fees to get it redone. Definitely one to avoid.

CV Library kept offering this service…

CV Library kept offering this service of free review for my CV. My boyfriend did and get some (that time it sounded as good advice) reply which would make sense. So following their advice, my CV was rewritten (being 'doer' to 'achiever' style) and sent over to them on Sunday evening.
Such a nice surprise - I had reply early morning on Monday. Well only if it wasn't the same reply/ advice as my boyfriend had. I couldn't feel any personal touch, it seems to me like the CV is run under some word recognition software and generates the answer. I would be ashamed for my name to be used as a signature under this automatic email.
Don't waste your time, you won't find any relevant advice here.

Six months of using CV Knowhow, No success!

I used CV Knowhow to improve my chances of employment within the Logistics sector. I was assigned to Tara M who redesigned and tailored my CV. Having applied for numerous jobs, most of them below my experience and skillset. I have not recieved a single job interview in 6 months. My old CV which Tara changed was used by a friend who has successfully gained employment 5 times using it. I feel this service has added no value to my search, if anything it has hindered my chances. Please look elsewhere or seek free advice to improve your CV. CV Knowhow didn't even have the courtesy to reply to an email I sent them 14 Nov 20. This lack of customer aftercare reflects the effectiveness of the CV.
Leaving poor reviews is something I rarely feel the need to participate in. However, due to CV Knowhows lack of empathy and extremely poor communication I stand by this decision.

Professional help given

After choosing CV Knowhow, given a free run through of my personal CV with an explained analysis, I worked with their easy setup program to pass over my information to begin. My given contact through CV Knowhow was a friendly connection who then returned with a professionally written CV and Cover Letter and between us we edited both until I was happy in the upcoming week to decide the outcome on both. My contact explained the building of these, and explained that it was up to myself to change and alter where I felt fit. A decent service where I kept full contact and where now I feel able to search a wider scope of employment owing to the professional help given. With my new papers I have more to work with and feel that more of the keywords and setups are there in my approach and I am now happy with my final documents.

Scam - Misleading Upsell

The free review is very useful, thorough and in depth - this however, is part of the scam.

Lulled in by this review you are then encouraged to part with up to £200 for a CV written by professional "experts".

The reality is you will receive a poorly written cv with phrases and descriptions that don't make sense and filled with keyword spamming.

I've asked them to provide linked in profiles of their writers as evidence of their skills and proof that they do not outsource the writing to cheap unskilled labour on something like fiverr, but they have refused - which should tell you all you need to know.

Don't part with a penny, this is a professional scamming operation.

I received an unsolicited free review…

I received an unsolicited free review of my CV from them. I am a Data Integrity Specialist. The review appeared promising and I paid the £100 for a rewrite if my cv. Following this I received a long survey asking me many questions which would require up to an hour to complete, such as very basic questions of what kind of role I was seeking. The company recommended a cover letter for a further fee which told me that they do not know anything about the industry I work in and the service I provide. I never need to create a cover letter. I twice wrote to the company seeking a refund, they replied that it was "being reviewed" and sent me a further e-mail asking if I wanted a linkedin rewrite. I responded that I did not and re-iterated my request for the refund of my money. At no stage did the company give me any confidence that they have any understanding of what they advertised they would provide.

Not worth your money

They lure you in with their fancy free CV review to make you think their overpriced service is worth it, however, once you pay the £100+ (Thinking it's an investment in your future) you will get a bit of a changed layout (which can be done via free apps and websites) and a few useless changes here and there. I have been submitting their provided Cv and the rate of calls is just the same as my original one. I expressed my dissatisfaction to CV knowhow and they responded that they will look into the matter but they never did!
