While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

1 Star – Retroactive restrictions, missing features, and suspension threats

I purchased CYTRIO through AppSumo in June 2024 as a Lifetime Deal. At the time of purchase, the deal clearly included 20 domains/subdomains and weekly cookie scans. There were no restrictions requiring domains to be “owned and operated” by me, and no reference to external Terms of Service that imposed such limits.

In May 2025, CYTRIO changed its Terms of Service to add these restrictions and is now applying them retroactively to Lifetime Deal customers. They wrongly classified some of my own domains as “third-party,” ignored the proof I provided of ownership, and on 1 September 2025 threatened to suspend my account unless I complied with their new terms.

On top of this, a key feature advertised in the original deal — weekly cookie scans — has never worked. Their own support confirmed this feature is unavailable. I’ve had to repeatedly request manual rescans and now manually check my sites for missing cookies, which creates unnecessary extra work and leaves me uncertain about GDPR compliance.

When I raised these issues, CYTRIO stopped responding and instead escalated with suspension threats.

This is a textbook case of a company punishing early supporters, failing to deliver promised features, and trying to upsell customers by retroactively changing terms. I cannot recommend CYTRIO.
