This was our first visit and it was…first but not our last
This was our first visit and it was excellent. Service outstanding, the food was delicious, piping hot and beautifully served. A lovely buzzy vibe in great surroundings. Can’t wait to go back when next in London
Lovely lunch in London
Came to London for a Carol Sevice at The Royal Albert Hall. Booked a table at Da Mario's. I loved the decor and the staff were really flying and great to hear Italian flying about. Food was great, particularly the Tirimisu. Thanks very much.
Avoid!
Rude manager horrible food and expensive avoid at all costs!
Terrible management
The food was lovely, however, the service was atrocious… I had made a booking but didn’t realise I had booked for the day after, the manager said that we could have a table but only for an hour. I thought this was fair enough and was very grateful, but the attitude I was given throughout the dinner by the waiters and the manager. We rushed to finish our food within the time given and when it came to pay the bill, I had to ask 6 different waiters and waited for 15 minutes to get the bill, because of this I asked to take the service charge off but tipped the waiter who was actually giving us good service. Once we had left the restaurant, the manager ran out after us shouting and pointing saying “how dare you take the service charge off…” and so on then shook his head and flicked his hand at us as he stormed off. Firstly, service charge is optional, secondly, this is not the type of service I expect from a restaurant such as this. The customer service was horrendous and the manager is ridiculously arrogant and rude, which is a shame as the food was lovely.
Very good service.
Very good service.
The waiters very friendly and efficient.
The food was great.
Diana would be horrified.
My wife and I have been going to Da Mario's for many years, usually as part of the many times we see concerts at The Royal Albert Hall.
As wed live near newbury, it is part of a day/evening out.
On Sunday, we had booked a table inside' upstairs, and it was terrible.
The place was rammed, with a long queue outside of 'walk-ins' and, despite our booking, we ended up outside on the road. The pasta was undercooked and service was slow. This is not a dig at the waiter, (George) who tried his best.
The place is very popular, but they have lost the plot and Diana would be horrified!
Souless unhelpful restaurant
We have just moved in close by and so decided to try this restaurant out as it would be convenient. It is absolutely frightful. Nobody greets you when you arrive instead rude, unfriendly, hatchet faced waiters watch you with indifference. We waited uncomfortably for any kind of courtesy or interest for about five minutes and then left. Happily, there is an excellent Pizza Express three minutes walk south down Gloucester Road on the junction with Cromwell Road. My advice is: go there.
DAMARIO without Mario not a good deal
It has been a pleasure to eat at DAMARIO's for over 30 years.
Following MARIO's death - a truly great man and restauranter, a man who greeted each and every client with a smile- the restaurant was handed down to the son. Sadly since the son took over the service has gone from Great to terrible, food does not taste as good as it used to, the food portions have halved and attention to detail has diminished. You will be treated like "cattle" ,Such a shame , what a pity
