Also thanks for sending us the Toshiba 3TB USB3 external disk drive. In this case it requested format with flashing light when plugged into laptop. The Drive sounded normal no scratching or scraping weird noises and no noticable faults on the USB3 connection port. We undertook cloning the disk using specialist recovery hardware and saved the data to a new HDD. Very pleased to hear you have been satisfied with our service!

On this job the hard drives on your WD My Book Live Duo sounded ok but the raid lost it's configuration.The Disk LED light remained Yellow, solid, not blinking, as though it was still booting up the OS. The shares would not show up on the network. Great to know the recovered data worked out ok for you.
Great service for over 14 years with Data Recovery Services
We have used Data Recovery Services (Apex Technology) for over 14 years to deal with any data recovery arising from failed hard drives and USB drives. Most recently, the recovery of the VHDX files from a RAID 5, three hard disk (SAS) array with two failed hard drives (disks 0 and 2). The VHDX files were recovered by Apex, copied to a portable USB drive and shipped back to us with a 2 day turnaround, perfectly intact. Great service and pleasure to deal with. Thank you.

Many thanks for choosing us (again!). This job was a bit of a challenge but we love a challenge here.
Once we had cloned the disks and examined the raw data we could see that in fact the Raid had been running in degraded mode for some time.
So the sequence of events was not that 2 drives had suddenly stopped working, but that one drive had failed a while ago, and the raid continued in degraded mode until a second failure. At which point you were called in.
The data recovery detective work then involved identifying which of the 2 failed drives failed last. We would use that drive to rebuild the raid5 array and this would give us the most up to date copy of the data at time of failure.
So thanks for the challenge - it is great to know it worked out OK for you and thanks for thinking of us again and taking the time to review or service for others..

Thank you for sending that Fujitsu MPG3102AT. These old IDE drives were amongst the last 3.5inch drives made by Fujitsu and often suffered firmware problems causing them to suddenly not be recognized by the computer bios.
In fact this problem probably caused the demise of Fujitsu in that particular market.

Thank you for sending us the DLT tape - SuperDLT 320 - for file transfer.
I recall that the backup software system used to write data to the tape was unknown. Fortunately we can read the low level raw byte data on the tape and from this we managed to get the correct software to read the DLT tape. We just love this sort of digital detective work here at Apex - so thank you for the challenge.

Thanks for sending us the Buffalo Terastation PRO. It had the common problem where one drive fails, the disk is replaced, the raid array rebuild is attempted then another disk fails. So you then end up with 2 disks dropped from the Raid 5 array which in theory is not possible to recover the data from. However we knew better!

I was working on Word Document then suddenly screen went blank and computer crashed.
The hard disk was recognised and not making any unusual noises, however it would not display any files and folders.

This job had a demanding timescale as you needed to submit some .docx word documents the next day, so we worked over night. The drive had bad sectors scattered over the disks surface but fortunately they were not in places where your word files were stored, however the directory structure had been patially destroyed.
We managed to rebuild it, and get several bad sectors to read ok, happily resulting in you meeting your deadline. Have a great evening and thanks again for choosing us!

Data recovery off assorted media and systems - First Class service

I cannot recommend this Company highly enough.
I know they have the abilities to dig deep into an extensive range of hardware and systems.
