Highly recommended!

A very satisfactory experience from the most down-to-earth team imaginable (funny too!) who certainly know their job and have your best interests at heart throughout the whole recovery process. I can't fault them! I felt totally confident and reassured that they would get all my data back (which involved using a specialist machine) and they did and very quickly too! Highly recommended! I had the shock of discovering my home cloud drive had died and feared the worst. I phoned data clinic and they were super helpful and made all the arrangements to pick up the drive. They diagnosed and recovered all my data and returned the drive back within two weeks. All through the process they kept me informed and were very professional throughout. Excellent service and would recommend them highly. Thank you dataclinic 👏

Lovely people, waste of money

Had a hard drive go bad and start reducing files to 0 bytes. A problem that had never occurred before and seemed rare to find any solutions or help online. Data Clinic have a lovely customer service and were very helpful to take me on. Sadly, the rest of the story was pretty frustrating. They did the initial scan for free and told me on the phone, the technicians should be able to get most of those affected files back. I was overjoyed and paid the full amount. After waiting for four and a half weeks, they got back to me and sent me a list of the 'saved' drive files. None of the 0 byte files had been salvaged which meant I had wasted 200+ quid and 1 month of waiting for nothing. When asking why none of the lost files could be saved, the technicians couldn't even tell me what the problem with the drive had been! They were gracious enough offer me a partial refund which is why I'm not giving them 1 star here. Completely understand that sometimes things can't be saved. I then sourced my own new drive from Amazon (which is one of their options) to get the files that were still intact back on a fresh drive. Got it back, turns out they had left it formatted to Windows NTFS which is useless for me as I'm a Mac user. They also never had asked in what format I'd wanted the drive to be in so I had assumed it was going to be Mac or ExFat like the faulty drive I had sent in. They apologised on the phone and are finally refunding me but only after I called them up again to remind them. Two weeks it's been since I sent my bank details. Seriously need to up their game when it comes to actually getting the work done. Sadly, action speaks louder than words.

Update: They gave me a full refund after recognising that they'd misdiagnosed my drive and quoted me the wrong amount. Still didn't get any of my lost files back but at least they owned up to it hence upgrading the review to 3 stars.

iPhone crashed and thought I’d lost everything

I had a massive issue with an iPhone 11 that crashed on me suddenly, there was no way of getting it to load up, no discoverable iCloud backup and I’d tried everything. I was absolutely heartbroken as i was told by apple I’d lost everything: over a years worth of course work that was due in, in only 2 weeks, prom photos, holiday photos and so much more. Or so I thought.
My phone was collected by the data clinic from my house on the Monday, by the next day they’d managed to gain access to my phone, retrieve all the data and everything I’d thought I’d lost and more and were able to send my phone and all my data on a memory stick back to me by the day after.
In a space of three days ive gone from losing everything from the last 4/5 years, to having it all back and be able to trade in the broken phone against a new one.
I can’t recommend nor thank this company enough. If your iphone crashes DON’T follow apple’s recommendations. Take it straight to the data clinic.

My phone died and I wanted to recover the data

My phone died and I wanted to recover all the data on the phone. I took it to a phone shop and they chip-off my phone and could only get a limited amount of data of the phone, so I took back phone and contact a number repair shops who couldn't extract the data or they were charging ridiculous fees for a limited amount of data. I came across Data Clinic in Bury and decided to give them a call and explain that my phone had been chipped off. They said they could possibly get the data off but they would need to check the chip so I sent off the chip and I received an acknowledgement that they received the chip and would analyse it to see what they could do. Within 2 days I got a response and they sent list off all the data they could retrieve and to my surprise it was nearly all data. So I arrange to pay the fee which included the data retrieval, USB stick and postage charge. I got my chip and USB with data a couple of days later. I was really happy with the service I received, all correspondence I had whether it was by phone and email was great. Please take my advice and go to them first I would recommend them to anyone trying to retrieve data from any hardware device.

Absolutely terrible company

Absolutely terrible company. Quotes a range in price and charges you the maximum of that range. Not just that, they then charge you more for 'parts' and an extra external hard drive you have to buy. Wait, there's more, then you have to pay for diagnosis which is supposedly free. This is absolutely terrible. Avoid this company!

Great service

Great service, transparent pricing, useful file list provided before committing to payment, good flow of updates about how the process was progressing, quick turnaround. I've knocked off one star because they ignored my request not to send my data back to me while I was on holiday.

If I could give 0 stars I would avoid…

If I could give 0 stars I would avoid Data Clinic at all costs. They say there is no upfront costs free diagnosis.. Then emailed me a invoice for over £100 +vat before doing any diagnosis. I call them about this and they said the Drive was opened by someone else prior to them so this is why there is a upfront charge, I told Steve I did inform them I had issues with the drive a few years back and a friend who worked in that field repaired it for me . Anyway long story short they said they would review call recording and waiver fee if confirmed. They emailed and said they were not made aware. I replied asking for copy of recording then called them 3hrs later as i heard nothing Steve tells me file to big to email but comfirms I did inform them I had issues with drive which was resolved by 3rd party but they will not waiver upfront fee and if I want drive back it will cost me £20.. Avoid this company

Hi Darren, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't happy with our service. It says very clearly on the quote email that you received, that if an HDD has been opened then there is a £95 + VAT diagnosis fee. The inside of an HDD is a clean air environment and it should only ever be opened in a clean room. If it has been opened, then we have to decontaminate the platter surface before we can even start work on the data recovery process, hence the fee. It also clearly says on your quote email that if you decide not to go ahead with the data recovery process, after we have collected your HDD for free and diagnosed the issues, then there is a charge for a return by courier back to your home address. I understand that sometimes customers forget whether their drive has been opened or not, and if we could have sent you the call recording then we would have done so. I hope that you managed to get your data recovered.

Successful Data Recovery from 2x Hard Drives

We had 2x failed Hard drives with some archive data which was required.
After discussing options on the Friday night with the out of hours team I dropped off the drives at the Leeds office on a Monday morning, by Wednesday I had the full file/folder audit sent to me to approve, the data was then recovered and the new external drive returned to me on Thursday.
I was kept informed of the progress by the customer service team throughout.
Great professional service at reasonable rates, highly recommended.
Thanks again.

Avoid this supplier! They damaged my drive.

I had a terrible experience with data clinic. They sent a courier to pick up my Drobo storage unit, and when it arrived at their facility they called me to say the unit had been damaged in transit, and the wanted £200 just to diagnose it, when the diagnosis was meant to be free. They claim it was all due to my packaging. My 11-year-old son put the Drobo in a box, with their courier present. He accepted the package, never said anything about it. Frankly, it looked like it was dropped down stairs, and no amount of packaging would have helped it.

I asked them multiple times to own their mistake, but hey refused, even when I said that I would be talking about this experience whenever I could. They won't take any responsibility, and say it's my fault when their courier clearly damaged it. Terrible service, avoid them, especially if you have data that is important to you.

Hi JP, I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with our service. We make our packing instructions very clear. HDDs are pretty fragile and need careful wrapping in bubble wrap or similar and then fitted snugly into a good robust box, so that they can't shake about inside the box whilst in transit. We use Parcelforce to collect and return our customers HDDs and we rarely have any problems. I don't think that your 11 year old son packed your HDDs as we requested, and I don't think that it is the courier's responsibility to ensure that your packing is done correctly. I hope that you managed to get your data recovered.

Data Clinic is best in class!!

Awesome!!

Early March 2019, my phone was drenched on holiday.
I feared I lost everything. And if not, over time corrosion would make any data retrieval impossible.

When I got back in April, I anxiously called and tried two data recovery companies. Both failed. Technically, and in Customer service.

Then I found Data Clinic, by chance. Their customer service was exemplary from the start and their technical skills shone through with a rapid turnaround and 100% data recovery.

I'm so pleased!

Hard disk crashed on Xmas day and no back-ups. This company was recommended by Enhanced IT Solutions (who are also excellent). Received an analysis of hard drive within a couple of days which suggested data was recoverable but bit more expensive as HD was a hybrid drive. Few days later looks like all data successfully recovered -amazing!! And great service. Cost £600-ish in the end including new hard drive and another to canibalise to get parts for recovery, but worth every penny.
