100% recommended

I called Dave to change the indicators on my Honda VT750. It was meant to be a straight forward job, but a few unexpected hiccups cropped up, none of which were his fault, but meant he had to return to finish the work.

Throughout it all, Dave was fantastic. He came back without hesitation. Despite being busy, he was able to schedule me in the next day. Dave kept me informed every step of the way, and made sure I understood exactly what was going on.

The standout for me was his honesty and integrity, which are rare qualities these days. He stayed true to his word and delivered top-notch work, leaving me confident my bike was in great hands.

Highly recommended for anyone needing a trustworthy, skilled mechanic who genuinely cares about doing the job right.

Dave Marler came out to my sons 50cc…

Dave Marler came out to my sons 50cc moped a 2023 Ajs Firefox as it was starting fine but not moving we suspected it was the drive belt, Dave confirmed that was the issue, he told me to get the belt and call him when the part arrived which I did, the part arrived I called Dave and he booked the bike in for the following week, Dave came back started work on the bike then told me it needed variate damper bushes and he hadn’t realised when he looked as it was obvious the belt had snapped so presumed it was just the belt, asked me to get the parts so ordered the parts and called when they arrived and Dave booked the bike in for the following week again, Dave arrived took 20 mins to fix the bike, charged me £180 then left without even trying the bike, my son came home got on the bike it wouldn’t move so I called Dave and he came back got it moving, the bike did less than 100 miles and was dangerous to ride as no power to pull away so took it to a garage and had the issue investigated, turns out the bike needd a new belt and variator again the garage charged me £110 that was parts and labour and the bike is back running great, I wouldn’t recommend Dave Marler to anyone

Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’ve encountered after the repair, but I’d like to clarify the events from my side to ensure there’s a clear understanding.

On my first callout, I thoroughly disassembled the scooter to identify the fault, which I confirmed to be the drive belt. After advising that the belt needed replacing, we arranged for me to return once the parts had arrived.

During the second visit, you provided your own parts to help keep costs down. Unfortunately, the belt you ordered was the wrong one, so I recommended you reorder the correct belt, and I scheduled another appointment to replace it once the correct part had arrived.

When I returned for the third callout and replaced the belt, I discovered additional drive issues that couldn’t have been diagnosed until the new belt was fitted. I informed you that the scooter needed further parts, and I also mentioned the speedo cable that you had requested to be replaced. After receiving all the parts, I came back again to fit them, which required significant work, including stripping the front end of the scooter.

Once all parts were fitted, I tested the scooter, and it was in fully operational condition. The scooter was running smoothly, and I confirmed this with you and your son after the test ride.

After a few months, I received a call about a lack of power and slow performance. I returned immediately to test drive the scooter again, and after further checks, your son also test-drove it and confirmed it was working fine. At that point, you seemed satisfied with the work completed.

Considering the length of time that has passed since the repair, I believe the issues you experienced might have been caused by faulty parts or issues arising from the garage that carried out the subsequent repairs. The parts I replaced were fitted correctly, and the scooter was running well at the time of my last visit.

I hope this clears up the situation, and I’m always happy to answer any further questions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything else.

I’d like to address a point regarding the cost breakdown for the work carried out. The £180 charge for the five callouts averages out to £36 per visit, which hardly covers my time, fuel, and the effort involved in attending the job.

I’d also like to mention that the weather during these visits was particularly challenging, with winter conditions and a lot of rain. Normally, I would try to avoid working in such conditions, but I made sure to keep the commitments we had.

Kind regards,
Dave Marler

1959 Vespa Set Up

Dave came to my home, stripped down my 2 stroke Vespa and got her running again. Reliable and reasonably priced. Nice guy and I would recommend him.

An excellent service from a great mechanic

An excellent service from a knowledgeable and commited mechanic. He worked on my husband's Yamaha TMax 500 on an intermittent fault, found the problem, sourced the parts and fixed the machine. A thoroughly nice person, reliable service and fairly priced.

Highly recommend Dave

I reached out to Dave after looking for a mobile mechanic local to me. He was extremely professional and clearly knowledgeable about mechanics, going out of his way to ensure that everything was repaired to a high standard before my MOT. I would highly recommend Dave to anyone looking for a friendly and skilled mechanic.
