The worst consumer experience I have…

The worst consumer experience I have ever had. Bought Solo Lite from Sumup a month ago - have spent more than 7 hours talking to bots; 2 agents concluded 2 consecutive terminals received were faulty; agent told me that was not unusual and she did not phone as she had promised to help with connection of third terminal received; am still waiting to hear re how to close the account and receive reimbursement.
Appalling customer service which they call a ‘dedicated team’. Frustrating, pointlessly time-consuming experience. This company is not trustworthy and should be avoided.

I’ve been using SumUp as a sole trader…

I’ve been using SumUp as a sole trader running a plumbing business, and everything was verified and working fine at first. However, shortly after receiving legitimate customer payments for completed services, SumUp suddenly froze my account and later terminated it without clear reasoning.
I provided all required business details, invoices, and proof of work, yet they refused to review the decision or release my funds — money that belongs to my customers’ completed jobs. As a small business owner, this has caused a serious cash flow problem and unnecessary stress.
Their communication is very limited, and there seems to be no appeal process even when all transactions are legitimate. It feels like small traders are left without support or a fair way to resolve issues.
I’ve now requested immediate access to my funds or a proper review of my case. I hope this helps other business owners think twice before relying on SumUp for their main payment system.

I have spent nearly two days trying to…

I have spent nearly two days trying to attach a new vat number to my goods till.
Hours spent on the phone to a bunch of incompetent staff. I always have to take a deep breath when dealing with SumUp. Two days later and I still have a different vat number on my till and it’s not even mine? You need to be reported for messing around with peoples taxes. Please avoid this company if you can.

Is ‘SUMUP’ adequate as the vendor on a Mastercard statement?

Problem is either with Sainsbury’s Mastercard or SumUp. I found a contactless payment on our statement for £19.99. We had no matching invoice or receipt and no recollection of what it might be. As it stands the system is giving the name of the company supplying the vendor’s processing system NOT the name of the vendor. Either SumUp should provide name of vendor or Mastercard should insist on it being present on the data that they then use for customer statements. As it stands I still have an unidentified item in our statement that cannot be traced. Unless the SumUp system has a means of doing it. The means of processing payments should be transparent to the customer. Mastercard have suggested issuing a new card, which to me indicates another potential scam that will not be resolved. The £19.99 has still to be paid. Is there no system for ‘freezing’ individual payments on Mastercard, which will soon prompt the vendor to identify themselves.

FRAUD

Hi

My partner and I are starting an art business and downloaded Sumup to take payments on my phone at her first Art Exhibition.

Despite requesting daily payouts, 3 working days after the show we were asked for additional 'security' information. It was NOT made clear when we opened our account with Sumup that this would be the procedure before receiving our funds.

However we sent you the invoice requested and the details of our Instagram page where we promote our business and have now been sent an email, terminating our account and refusing to transfer our money. There is NO reason for this, and we will find it impossible to track down all of our customers from the show who now have our artwork!

This is an astonishingly poor and misleading way to treat you customers.

We demand the money from our sales immediately and the cancellation of our Sumup account.

most of the good reviews are for Debitoor

most of the good reviews are for Debitoor, which was a brilliant company Sumup have totallly destroyed it, you now can't send your customers payment recites, as you were able to do before I ask the question about returning the option but nothing has been done.
Now they have done a upgrade and made it worse, I'm in the process of looking for another accounting company, now can't even log in

An exceedingly professional company

An exceedingly professional company.
From day one Debitoor has helped me with any, although few, problems I encountered.
A friendly voice at the end of the telephone, if needed.
Reports and invoices produced in a timely fashion.

I would recommend Debitoor 100%

I would recommend Debitoor 100% ! I have been with them for several years and love the constant upgrades they do. Many companies are happy to just take your money each month but Debitoor have a strong Customer Care Ethic and this shows in how they treat their customers.
I decided to upgrade my package from the free package as I needed more of the advance features.
