I have been going to this restaurant…
I have been going to this restaurant for the pass 12 years. I moved away from Crystal Palace over 10 years ago and my family and I have always dined at Dem.
I have enjoyed more than three mother's days lunches in the past at Dem, however my experience on Mothers day this year 30/3/2025 was terrible and to say the least our loyal custom was not respected.
We had a table booked for 4pm. We arrived on time after 10-15 minutes of waiting we were seated. Once seated we waited further 20-30 mins for our orders to be taken. Our starter came to us quite quickly which we enjoyed. We waited just one and half hours for our main course, when we enquired we were told the chef's forgot our table ticket. There was no apology nothing. A few minutes later our waiter returned to our table with x1 bottle of beer for my partner and totally dis-reguarded my daughter, my cousin and me!
Anyway when we finally got our main course after finishing our meal we asked for the bill. We were given it, which had full charges etc. I asked our new waiter if I could speak to the manager and shared our experience. He came back smiling and informed us the manger had left for the eve ning. This response upset me, so I wentto the main desk where the manager was standing and explained our experience and requested a bill discount for poor service, I explained besides our experince various other customers had visited the restaurant, ate their food and left the restaurant while we were still waiting. THESE WERE GUESTS THAT WERE SEATED AFTER US!!!
The manager replied 'what do you want me to d,o we are busy'. I requested a discount he offered me a cheap bottle of red wine. I refused.
He then said how much of a discount I said you are the manager you decide. He said no. So I returned back to table and told him to call the police!!! He then decided to reduce my bill by £25!!!! what a cheek! but I accepted.
The reason for this review is because if I had been at any other restaurant I probably would not of paid that bill or at least half of it. Bearing in mine we are regular customer, we greeted them with peace and love on arrival. They demonstrated to my family and I we mean nothing and our loyality and custom over the years means nothing too. So sad but I will never spend my money at this restuarant again.
