Hello Colin, I welcome any and all reviews. Any review gives me the opportunity to reply and to add much needed context.

You first emailed on New Years Day, and I replied. In hindsight, I should have protected my holiday time and not replied on that day. But I did, because I was due to go on holiday and didn't want to delay replying. We shared a couple of messages on that day.

I then arranged to add you to my schedule for a visit soon after, it was the very next day, the 2nd January, as I was working locally to you for another customer.

On arrival, it was clear that you didn't have all the parts - on your initial contact, you did say you had all the parts, then you said you needed a bottom bracket, but you also needed seat collar clamp, headset fittings, thru axles.

I spent time with you, looking at the frame and parts, discussing mechanical and electronic shifting pros and cons, and I also pointed out an incompatibility you had in one of the components you already had, and advised you how you could resolve that.

I also told you that I was a 'Mobile' mechanic, and would not be able to do this work on a mobile basis.

I also told you that I would be going on holiday very soon after the visit.

To recap the service I've already given you...

I did reply to several of your messages, all within hours or receiving them (on New Years Day),
I did work out my schedule to arrange a visit to you on the very next day.
I gave lots of useful advice
I advised you about what you still required
I advised you about what you had that would not work, but also how to resolve it
I advised you that I was 'mobile' and would not be able to do this work on a mobile basis
I advised you that I was going on holiday very soon after the visit
There was no discussion of my charges involved to build your bike, and therefore, there was no confirmation from me that I would take on this task for you

All of this service from me, for you, was done on a no obligation basis of not charging for the visit or for the comprehensive advice I gave you.

I am a one person business, and as such, I have to fulfill all the many and varied roles a busy business has, but time does run out. Since New year, I've received almost 200 messages and emails, and somehow, even though taking time away on leave, and fulfilling all the commitments I already had booked, I've so far found the time to reply to almost all of these messages. Sadly, it's impossible to get back to every single person in a timely manner, and yes, sometimes regrettably a handful of messages might slip and go unanswered for a short while. It's a balance between trying to answer as many messages as possible in the allotted time I have to do so, going out and doing the work, and allowing myself some time to breath a little and have a small amount of family time.

To summarise, I think I've been exceptionally clear about my work limits and time commitments, I've responded at times that I really shouldn't have, and responded quickly, and I've also given my time and advice freely.

However, it's also clear that you have the opinion that my service doesn't meet your standards. I do hope you find someone to do the work for you. Thank you, Neil

Highly Recommended

I forgot that I hadn't reviewed Neil!

I have always struggled to refit my rear wheel and wanted someone to go through the process with me until I could refit the rear wheel on my electric mountain bike confidently. I contacted Neil and arranged a 1:1. He was excellent. Neil went through the whole process, taking his time and listening to my needs. I also ended up asking Neil lots of other things and he was extremely helpful. Neil was able to offer lots of advice to make it easier for me and I now understand what I was doing wrong. Neils hints and tips were a godsend. The outcome is that I can refit the rear wheel myself. Just what I wanted to learn. Thanks Neil and I highly recommend you.

Top Class Bike Mechanic

I have asked Neil to come and look at my bikes a few times now, always on time, always friendly and always offers sound advice. Best bike mechanic I have used and I have used several over the years. Bike fixed at your home (rain or shine) quick and efficient and has your bike back up and on the road in no time. Wouldn’t go anywhere else now!! Thanks again Neil.

Highly recommend

Unfortunately my issue couldn’t be solved due to it being an OEM issue, but Neil provided knowledgeable advice and I will seek alternative help based on his advice and if I have any further issues with bikes I will be using Neil.
