Bobcat Miner 300 works as expected
While one could build a HNT miner for much less money, the cost in time needed to learn how to do so would surely exceed the cost of buying a Bobcat. The device itself feels well-made but is quite light. The antenna has a magnet built into the base which is pretty nice. It supports both Ethernet and WIFI (2.4Ghz but not 5Ghz). The app used for connecting seems pretty good; however, know that the antenna height you set during setup rounds down to the nearest whole number. Don't enter a height of 4.9 meters because it will save it as 4.0 meters; though, it's not a big deal to update your antenna height once you've mined some HNT. It took perhaps 3 days for me to download the blockchain, which happened automatically after I added it to my WIFI. I did have to modify my WIFI's settings to ensure it didn't have the Relay label; not ideal, but you are mining crypto so presumably you can figure it out. Anyway, I was able to successfully mine HNT and then transfer it to BinanceUS so this is a legit source of passive income. However, I have encountered multiple instances of my Bobcat getting out-of-sync with the blockchain; I don't know if it's Bobcat or Helium or my connection or what; perhaps its just growing pains. Finally, I've successfully used discovery mode to connect to a nearby miner. As far as I can tell, this device works as expected; I do not regret buying it.
