Dickmanns took my deposit 2 months ago and still haven't returned it with no explanation.

I hired a car from Alicante dropping it off the same day in St Javier airport, this was the 16th June, 2 months later and I still have not been repaid the deposit of almost £1000. Totally unacceptable behaviour, so far i have had one mail from customer service saying that they will pass my complaint on to accounts but with no results. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, I am considering legal action. Ref: DYS-21653765

Hired a car for 10 days in August 2017 From Alicante office

Hired a car for 10 days in August 2017, to save any hassle with deposits I payed full insurance, however the very unhelpful chap in Alicante office charged me 98 euro for full tank of fuel, I asked what was the cost to fill a 1.1 car he said 60 euro and 38 euro for admin, I said do I get a refund if I return full ? He said yes 60 euro, when I said my admin charge to fill car was also 38 euro , he growled and said no. I filled car from half and it was 20 euro. When I returned car I asked for my deposit and the guy said it would be in my account within 10 minutes , one week later no deposit , they don't answer phone or emails, I wouldn't touch this lot again , in fact do you Spain should also take responsibility as they are promoting this company.

Midnight robbery

Charged us an extra £40 for picking up after 12am, however didn't tell us until we got there so was more expensive than expected. Charged £95 'deposit' to be refunded on return of full tank, received £60 back despite doing so. No replies when complaint lodged. Don't do it!!

I've used Dickmanns in Alicante for …

I've used Dickmanns in Alicante for about 4 years, 2 or 3 times per year and never had any problems until now. I hired a car from them on May 23, paid a 950 euro deposit, returned the car on June 20 without damage, I was issued with an appropriate returns note stating such. 7 weeks later still no deposit refund despite inumerable emails and my Spanish legal representative phoning them, who they hung up on repeatedly. I've now reported Dickmanns to Mastercard who are promising a conclusion within 7 to 10 days, failing this I'll start legal proceedings in Spain against them.

In conclusion don't ever use Dickmanns, I certainly won'y ever use them again and can't understand what they hope to acheive by this course of action.

Dear Jabier Moliner,

As you refuse to answer our emails. We are contacting via Facebook. In our email we have attached a receipt for payment of fuel of €111.45 for insurance & full / Full , and your insurance documents
The Car was returned full as agreed with the company DICKMANS.

We have also attached in our emailed your voucher who says the fuel will be refunded once the car is returned full after hire. This has never happened.
We also paid for your insurance in your original hire.

Please see the contents of your email below:

The man in the office said after specifying we already had your insurance that this was for the fuel that would be refunded on return
of the hire car as long as the tank was full. This was the case.

We hope that this issue will be sorted asap as the money has not been refunded from Dickmanns since March 2017. Your company is getting a bad reputation due to its actions and inability to resolve customer issues. We are extremely disappointed. Please do not ignore our proof for a refund of the fuel charge. We will not let this matter drop, and will continue to let your potential customers know of your inability to resolve any matters.

Still not returned my deposit nearly 4 …

Still not returned my deposit nearly 4 months after returning the car. Numerous phone calls and numerous times I have been promised it will be sorted.
Tried to ring them again today and they just hung up.
The people who run this company need locking up.

Dickmanns ONE good point cheapest …

Dickmanns ONE good point cheapest around at point of hire at the desk or through a broker.
Although I have read on here that the staff are rude and to a point ignorant, my own personal experience I have to say in regard to this has been OK.
As you will also read in a lot of these reviews its when you do not take out their insurance that things can get unpleasant. I accept the fact that you have to leave a deposit if you choose not to take out their cover, in case you damage the vehicle, and that it will be returned to you as stated in THEIR T&Cs a maximum of 25 days after you have returned the vehicle undamaged/fueled, and of course on time.
This is where most problems arise, I have been waiting for the return of my deposit for 5 WEEKS! I know that is no where near as long as some other people have had to (and still are!) when you consider the FACT that dickmanns state a maximum of 25 days in their T&Cs.

I have had to hand this over to my credit card company to deal with, and when I phoned to start the process the guy on the phone said "we have to deal with this company a lot" enough said!

I for one will NEVER use them again, you have been warned!

I booked the car hire through do you spain

I booked the car hire through do you Spain who I have used on several occasions and have always been happy with...however at the last minute they changed the supplier from gold car to dicl Mann's so I had no choice but to go ahead with the agreement. It is now 5weeks since I returned to England and have not yet received a refund of the 950 euro deposit. After reading the reviews I am now aware that many people are in the same situation. I cannot understand how this company are still in business as there customer service is appalling I only wish I had read the reviews first.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I hired a car for 5 days to visit my mother in law in Torrevieja. Upon receiving the car a Dickmann's employee went over the car with me identifying all the scratches and blemishes which he marked on a diagram. When I returned the car at the end of the rental period another Dickmann's employee went over the car with me and showed me a blemish and scratches which he said were new. I denied damaging the car. Upon my arrival home I received an e mail charging me 600 euros for repairs to the car. Looking at the diagrams showing the scratches they are in exactly the same place, just marked differently by the staff. A very clever ploy by Dickmann's to get money out of you. I would mention that I rented cars from Dickann's office in Torrevieja on a permanent basis for eight years and never had this kind of treament, but this was a few years ago now. I will certainly not recommend this Company to anybody now or in the future.

Deposit refund

This is the first and last time i use this company.I returned my hire car to Alicante over 3 months ago, and my €950 deposit has still not been returned, despite regular Emails. Replies state, apologies, it is with the accounts department. The car was checked on return and passed OK, so there is no problem with damage. I have involved my credit card company, but am still waiting, and paying interest.

What a scheme they have going

What a scheme they have going! How to make easy, quick money from Brits. The overly aggressive Spanish guy checked the car over on return at Alicante airport and found a blemish mark which I would have never seen and did not notice. I said it will polish out and asked my wife for a tissue but he roared 'No Clean, No Clean' and told us to go away. He had to use a ballpoint pen to identify the mark when he photographed it as it was the size of the ball point end, there was no dent. I was charged Euro 200 which was 5 times the price I paid to rent the car. It took 3 weeks to get the rest of my deposit back. I think they deliberately target clients who do not take out their excess waiver insurance. Unethical, unscrupulous, aggressive, greedy money makers - a disgrace to the Spanish people.

BEWARE !!!!!!!!!!

Management responded, asking us to email them so they can refund us our €950 from beginning of APRIL.

DO NOT USE, still due deposit refund from 11th April 2017 of €950 . Called Numerous times, this morning was the final straw. I have been hung up on 7 TIMES. I found a different number and spoke to receptionist who put me through to accounts but they HUNG UP ON me AGAIN !!!!!!!. Just need to look back to previous reviews too see how this company operate.
Apart from this the car hire was as expected.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Never Use this Company again…

I personally would never use this company again even if they were the only company with available cars in Alicante Airport.

I arranged a rental through one of their agents on a full to empty basis with no excess insurance. The main terms of Dickman's full to empty arrangement were given on the agents web site. On arriving at Dickmans desk late at night the saleman asked me whether I wanted to add an additional driver. I said yes and he quoted me 190 odd euros for the cost of a full tank of petrol plus refuel charge, plus cost of additional driver. He also said that I would have to leave 950 euros as excess deposit to cover possible damages. This was all acceptable to me on the basis of the original full to empty arrangement.

He then said he could offer me the additional driver on a full to full arrangement at the same price as that of an additional driver to the full to empty arrangement, which he claimed would be a better deal. He also added that it included the excess insurance. I told him I didn’t need the excess insurance as I had annual cover but he still advised me that even without the excess insurance the full to full arrangement was better for me. Based on his assurances I agreed to change to a full to full rental.

I had assumed that as with other full to full rentals with reputable companies like centaura I would be reimbursed for the cost of the full tank of petrol. But no I wasn't reimbursed with anything. . So instead of returning the car empty I had to pay the additional cost of a full tank of petrol. A more expensive option than just paying them for an additional driver on the full to empty rental.

When I queried this with them a month later I was initially told that the payment of 190 odd euros was for the cost of the fuel, refuel charge and the excess insurance. Then they told me that I should have been aware from the conditions of contract that there was no refund for the fuel under a full to full arrangement. As I mentioned earlier the main terms that I was aware of were those for a full to empty rental. I relied on the advice of the salesman at the desk and was duped!

Cheap but scary

It was super cheap, like 6 Euro for 5 days. Only after I got the car I read those really, really awful comments about this company. Just Google "dickmanns reviews".
During these 5 days all I thought about was how I will get ripped off on return. Will they notice that tiny scratch I didn't write down in the beginning? Will they return my gas and deposit money? Will I have to wait half a year for it?
The car was too big for Torrevieja streets and parking and I had to be super careful not to do scratch, but it was my decision.
All in all it went well. The car was nice and in a very good condition. They tried to intimidate me into taking their extra insurance (100 Euro), but I refused and went for deposit (950 Euro). The staff was not helpful, but I came for the car, not small talk, and they worked fast. On return they quickly checked the car and it was all OK. I had to wait about 20 minutes for the shuttle.
They returned my gas money on next working day and deposit within a week.
My experience was good, but maybe I was just lucky. After reading those comments I will not use the same company again.

So far disgraceful attitude and withholding damage deposit beyond fair practice.

This rental company have to be just about the worst car rental I have used in my 30 years plus of hiring cars in Spain.
They have been very obstructive in returning my damage deposit for a car I returned undamaged over a month ago.
They took 950 euros from my credit card on 28th April as damage deposit. The car was returned on 4th May in perfect undamaged condition. The car was checked by the representative and deemed undamaged. I asked then for the damage deposit to be refunded, only to be told it would be returned later in the month. This was the " penalty for not taking the Dickmanns Insurance at collection". Apparently.
I was very unhappy to hear this , but have now waited from the 4th May to today the 13th June and still waiting for the refund. On contacting the head office I was told I would have to wait 28 days. Apparently working days ( not days) . On questioning this I have been further told that is 28 bank working days not Dickmanns working days. Which of course is 7 days a week when they of course are happy to take our money from us. On further contact they are now saying around 6 weeks from return of car . Which will be up in 2 days time. I have raised this as a dispute with my credit card company at this point.
