By far my favourite delivery meal kit!

I love ordering from them. The boxes always arrive on time (Midlands) and we never experienced problems with defrosting before. The insulation is well constructed and dry ice does its job well.

Our favourite box is the vegan range, but we occasionally go for meat/seafood as well and have never been disappointed. I like how they keep adding new things to explore like add on buns, selection pouches, etc. Will order again soon!

Sensational! A delicious at home experience!

Loved the ease of the website, clear communication re delivery and our box arrived early ahead of our family meal! Such a well thought out experience that was a fabulous mid week treat. We particularly appreciated the eco friendly, compostable packaging and the clear instructions on how to cook all of our ingredients. Definitely don’t skip the carrot step!! This adds to a delicious and sensational meal. Thanks guys, we can’t wait to order our next box!

Family celebration treat.

Family celebration treat.
Ordered the celebration feast for 4. Food arrived exactly on time. Excellent presentation, it felt like we were getting a present!
After putting the boxes in the freezer, we ate the following evening.
Every piece of packaging was recyclable.
The instructions were simple and easy to follow. They required minimal effort but enough to make you feel you were part of the experience. The Dim Sum looked amazing. The carrot slaw tang sauce is a revelation. Take the time and effort to do it.
The quantity of food is too generous is anything. We had four very hungry adults and still could finish it.
At the end of the meal there was little or no cleaning up and all the steamers etc. were recycled.
Favourite Dim Sum ....the prawn one! or maybe the beef and sweet potato spicy one or maybe the custard bun. The spicy chicken was excellent too.
Do yourself a favour and go for it.

Dim sum lovely but for the wealthy

The dim sum were very nice , were they worth the price ? A definitive no. I could have swung for my husband when I learned the cost. If money is no object buy them, but it's way too pricey and them rubbish paper steamers, I'm sorry but the price you are charging you could give out bamboo ones. So until I win the lottery I'll stick to itsu.

No idea how there are any bad reviews!

I don’t know how there are any bad reviews! The food is amazing, dips are delicious (have even ordered the bottles!), packaging is great, food was still frozen even being left outside in the hot weather for hours, instructions are clear and cooks everything perfectly. The steamers are great, and got several uses out of them. All round great experience! Have just placed my second order to try some more of the varieties. HIGHLY recommended!!

I love Ding Dong Dim Sum

I love Ding Dong Dim Sum. It is always great quality and we all love it. Yes, it can sometimes be seen as a slightly more pricey option but we have it as a treat and dim sum is expensive in restaurants too. Plus if you sign up to the newsletter, they often have special offers on so I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for restaurant quality dim sum. It’s also nice knowing you are supporting a small company.

Worse than Takeaway. Still more expensive.

The adverts make it look great. A delightful feast is delivered to your door, you get to cook it up and have a nice time.

The reality is a tiny box of food is delivered a day late, and the instructions to cook the food are very lacklustre.

We had to make up our own cooking times as some dishes were still raw after the annotated times.

The food itself was mixed. The Bao buns and Custard Bao were excellent, the gyoza were fairly good. The Chicken Siu Mai were disappointing - basically a Bao Bun filling without the Bao Bun.

The sad wilted carrot you have to grate the 'slaw was disappointing, but Carrot Slaw did turn out okay.

The range of dipping sauces was disappointing and not particularly flavourful. The sticky rice seemed out of place and added nothing to the meal except to make you feel you had eaten something for all this money.

Overall a substantial waste of money.

I really liked this place

I really liked this place - there was plenty of food delivered and all tasted really good. Well packaged and we enjoyed it. Don't bother forking out for the bamboo steamer - you can get a much better quality one for less money somewhere else. They also didn't include paper for the food to sit on.
Overall would definitely recommend if you like dim sum.

The only place to get frozen dumplings from.

This is THE place to get your cook at home dumplings. With their amazingly varied selection, you will find something for everyone.

We live quite a distance from any decent dumplings. I have tried a number of these 'order frozen, cook from home' kits and I feel like the definitive source on the subject. The boxes of dumplings that I have bought from competitors are not as tasty as those from Ding Dong Dim Sum (DDDS), not as plentiful or as good value, and specifically the casings/wrappers do not travel well. With nearly every other box I have tried, the wrappers fall apart while the filling is still frozen, or the texture is wrong, but not here.

You get a huge amount of beautifully made dumplings in each box. We are big appetite people, and are always full after DDDS. You may not think you get enough, but do not be fooled. Dumplings may look small but they are extremely filling. And that's without the rice AND carrot slaw. In my foolishness I initially discounted the slaw, who needs it? You do. Dumplings are heavy, the carrots and beans in their tangy sauce are extremely refreshing, and only help you find room for more dumplings. The sides are very well thought out and include sauce and seasoning for the rice. A full meal, a complete dinner party to impress. No other cook from home kits offer this. Not only this but you can get a little biodegradable steamer in case you don't already have one. Genius. And dipping sauces! Not just cheap soy sauce, you will get three delicious sauces and you will need to decant and split them up so that you don't spend the whole meal fighting over them. SESAME TANG is my jam, should I drink it? No. Could I? Absolutely. And you can buy these sauces separately in little bottles. (Which you will want to do by the time you order your second box.) My only warning to you here is that I really like them all, including the spicy one, and I can't do spice well, so I imagine it's not that spicy to spice lovers. But for those that are concerned about spice, I find it has a pleasant hear but won't burn your mouth. If you want spicy spicy buy a chili in advance.

Right, I'm going to say it. These dumplings are a damn sight better than you will get at a LOT of restaurants. My partner swears bling that these rival the well known restaurants in Chinatown where they make them fresh. But you won't be paying through the nose and you're paying for pure quality. And quality it is. I've never had huge chunks of prawns in restaurant dumplings, they're always tiny amounts, minced or blended, and padded out with huge quantities of water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. Wheras the siu mai is pure pork - no padding - with great big chunks of prawn. The Har Kau are prawny deliciousness and the wrappers are perfect. I'm not the biggest fan of Har Kau in general, as I find the wrappers are usually sticky and cloying, but DDDS makes them perfectly. In my initial judgement, DDDS was the last cook from home dumpling box that I tried, as I had initially discounted them because they include gyoza, and I thought, well they're so readily available. You can get them in big bags from the supermarket. Why waste money? Foolishness. If I understood that supermarket dumplings were never going to compare to the ones from DDDS why didn't I think the same of the gyoza? I have never had such flavourful gyoza, of course they blow everything you've bought from a shop out of the water. The duck gyoza are the duckiest in the world, I cannot stress enough how there is NO skimping on ingredients here. Pure chicken with whole sweetcorn kernals, no padding, no hidden nasties, no cutting corners. The wrappers perfectly crisp, and - unlike the shop bought ones - they don't just absorb oil. The buns are ridiculously fluffy, and feel like they were baked the morning you cook them. You will get no gristly bits of pork in your char siu, unlike in Chinatown, only deliciousness. The custard buns are - again - perfectly fluffy, not too sweet. I often find that Chinese custard can taste overly eggs, but these are the perfect balance. You will need a small rest after you've eaten your dumplings, before you steam your custard buns, otherwise you'll find yourself completely stuffed while your buns are getting cold.

2 days before Lunar New Year, when we had a big crowd coming over, I realised that I booked the wrong delivery date. DDDS went above and beyond to ensure we got our dumplings in time, and we are beyond grateful for everything they did on LNY's eve. Their commitment to excellent customer service is evident through their always speedy replies, flexibility in their approach and their friendliness. The combination of the unrivalled taste and the way they bent over backwards for me to correct MY mistake, has earned them my unwavering loyalty.

Ding Dong indeed!

Delivery updates were frequent, then the food arrived…. Wallop! Really good fun cooking it for date night, and food was restaurant standard with really decent sized portions. We’ll for sure hit this again! 👌🏼😋

Disappointing

Some of the food came broken up (not necessarily Ding Dong’s fault) so suggest packaging might not be cushioned enough. Followed the instructions to the letter but most of the dumplings came out inedible (squashy, wet and cold.) Some didn’t, so I think this was not really my fault when cooking (I spaced them out, etc.) Unfortunately by the time you get them on the table and try them it’s a bit late to put them back to steam again to heat up more - the disposable steamer baskets had already started losing integrity so couldn’t really go again. The custard buns were AMAZING and we loved these, as well as the gyozas which we fried up super crispy and the carrot slaw, but it didn’t really make up for the rest of the box. Unfortunately quite disappointing and, in my opinion, not worth the £50 we paid.

My 5th purchase in the past year

My 5th purchase in the past year, which says it all really. Not cheap, but a wonderful and special treat. I bought 2 'extras' this time, as we'd invited my daughter to join us. The box for 2, plus the extras were plenty and she loved the meal as much as we did. Really special and tasty restaurant quality food. One small problem was the lower steamer tray collapsed 5 mins I to the first steaming. After a moment's panic we stapled a piece of folded card between the tear, then stabilised the whole thing by using 4 wooden clothes pegs to keep it in place on the metal saucepan. It worked!
