Direct Energy in Calgary - a dishonest company
Direct Energy in Calgary is a dishonest company. I have seen similar cases, in which this company renewed the service using floating rates (tripled the charge) to collect extra money from its customers without obtaining consent from the customers.
Horrible. They will renew your contract at triple the normal rate
We signed with them and after a year they renewed our contract without our permission at a rate which was THREE TIMES the rate of our regular utility supplier.
We were suddenly paying 3x the PSE&G rate for electricity and it took me months to get them to cancel the agreement and refused to refund the money or do anything about the insane price increase.
STAY AWAY.
THEY CALLED ME EVERYDAY FOR 1 YEAR
I don't know if it is fake or if it is a scam.
They call my business EVERYDAY MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY.
They are not my provider, I did not request a quote and I asked them to stop multiple times. I am absolutely fed up. Once they had the audacity to tell me I would spend 700 pounds less a month, saying I was currently spending 500 a month when I really only pay 300. IT IS TOTAL LIES, they know nothing but they won't stop harassing you.
Every time I asked for my number to be removed from their caller list they just hang up on me. I have a coffee shop and they call me at the busiest possible time. I AM SUPER ANGRY AT THIS COMPANY.

Great company I love it I love their deferred payment plan
Pathetic company
Pathetic company. They pretend to be Canadian but they are not. They have 3rd world call centers that will mess up your message due to poor language skills causing more charges to your account. Communicating with them is like talking to a dictatorship.
No savings by using their service.
Scam Artists and illegal trade practices
I am a former direct energy rep. I used to work for a company called Trust Energy in Calgary . I was told by the trainer and supervisor, Robin and Matt to hide the truth from the customers . I was asked to to fake the electricity and gas price to elderly people and newly landed immigrants as they are not aware of the energy market . The price is not fixed and it will go up in two months. They lock you in a contract and you if you wish to opt out later it's costs to you $4000 to get out of the contract and eventually messing up your credit.I quit the job because I couldn't lie to the customers anymore.
Avoid this company like plague. They lock you on a contract at a higher price. They provide you free electricity and gas for two months and then triple the price for the next five years.
Wish I never worked here as this company has a bad name and the trainers and supervisors asked me to lie and hide the truth.
