Wonderful service provided by Direct Unlocks. I purchased this phone with a carrier lock and wanted to use it with my preferred carrier, but I didn't know what to do until I found Direct Unlocks. At first, I was hesitant because I thought the price was high for such a service, but as I saw that it worked, I completed the procedure and found the service to be reliable.

Hi — I’m Charlotte. I’m really sorry you’ve been left waiting — that’s not the experience we want.

Our Terms state that, in some cases, failed unlocks are issued as credit notes: "Credit Notes can be used against any sim unlocking service…" and certain failures are refunded as a credit note (for example, hard‑locked results). To locate your order and post any outstanding credit I need your IMEI (or your order number/email). In the absence of this reference we cannot address your specific concerns.

Please either reply here with the IMEI and order number or use the Live Support link on your tracking page so we can investigate and get the credit applied ASAP. Thank you — Charlotte

Initially sites says codes are…

Initially sites says codes are avaliable "instantly" you pay 14.99. Then you get a message saying you are eligible. Pay another 49.99 to get them. took two days. I left a review on another website and promptly received this in an email:
"Revise Your Review
Note: Thank you for your review, sorry to hear of your experience. If you remove it or change it to 5* we will issue an immediate refund"

Make what you want of that.

Hi — Charlotte here. I’m really sorry you had that frustrating experience.

Quick points to help:

- The “instant” 14.99 step sounds like an eligibility/check step; as our terms state, “There may be an additional price to pay for the sim unlock itself” and timeframes “are given as a guideline, NOT a guarantee.”
- We don’t normally ask customers to remove or change reviews in exchange for refunds. That email you received isn’t standard practice — please forward a screenshot or the order reference so I can escalate it.
- I can’t look up or resolve your specific order without your IMEI (it’s required). In the absence of any reference, we cannot address your specific concerns — please use the Live Support in your tracking page or reply here with your IMEI and order number so we can investigate.

If you send the IMEI/order ref and the review-email screenshot, I’ll chase this up right away.

Nothing else worked

After my husband passed I wanted to give his phone to my sister who lives in Sweden. That became very complicated because my hubby also had extra levels of security on the phone. Direct unlocks saved me when nothing else seemed to work. It took the time they said it would and I felt very taken care of.

Unacceptable. A scam. Do not touch. …

Like others have highlighted this feels like a scam as there’s a second payment after the initial 14.99. Very very unclear. What’s worse is that there must be fake reviews on their site as it’s overall is 4.5!!! Not a chance as its real TP score is 3.1. I wish I’d checked proper trust pilot. I will be referring this to the ombudsmen unless I retrieve my 14.99.

Hi — I’m sorry this has left you frustrated.

To clarify: your £14.99 was for an Eligibility Check only and the unlock itself requires a further payment of £41.00. As our Terms state, "Pre-orders, eligibility check, and unlocking costs are incurred immediately upon placing your order" and "It is not possible to cancel your order once it is paid for." Our Refund Policy also makes clear: "Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable."

Your order (placed 28 Apr 2026) currently shows "Only paid for Eligibility Check, awaiting Unlocking Payment of £41.00." Please initiate the £41.00 unlocking payment via your Tracking page so we can complete the Nokia 301 RM-840 (O2 UK) unlock. If you’d like, I can escalate your concerns to our support team to review the Eligibility Check results and explain next steps.

They sold me an unlock and never unlocked the phone

They sold me an unlock, nowhere did it say anything about an eligibility check, I provided screen shots proving that. They tried charging me an additional sixty nine dollars, they have refused to process the unlock or refund my money. I had to file a complaint with the FTC and am waiting for the results. Completely dishonest company engaging in false advertising, as well as fraud.

Hi — Charlotte here. I’m sorry this has been upsetting.

Our records show your order (placed Mar 26, 2026) has one payment of $24.99 for an Eligibility Check and is currently “Only paid for Eligibility Check, awaiting Unlocking Payment of $68.00.” To proceed we need the $68 unlocking payment — please initiate this via your Tracking page.

Please note, per our policies: "Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable." Also: "'Pre-orders' also referred to as 'Eligibility Checks' are not covered by our money back guarantee... If you decide not to proceed with the unlocking payment, we cannot refund the cost of the Eligibility Checks, as we have already performed the service." If your iPhone requires a Premium Service that will be shown in your status before you pay.

We take complaints seriously and will investigate any evidence you send — if you’d like us to review your screenshots, please reply with them here. The fastest way to get the unlock completed is to pay the $68 via your Tracking page so we can continue.

Hi — I’m Charlotte. Sorry we were late letting you know about the remote technician — that delay isn’t the experience we aim for.

A quick note from our terms: "Delivery times are guidelines... These delivery times are variable and can decrease as well as increase without notice" (T&C 6.1–6.2). Your order (placed Apr 13, 2026) shows "Unlock Complete" and your unlocking code is 6138238678250513. For non‑iPhones, please "enter the unlocking codes provided in accordance with the email instructions" (T&C 8.1). If your phone never prompts for a code you do need a Remote USB — which you have purchased — and I’ll prioritise scheduling that tech for you.

Tell me a preferred day/time (and your timezone) and I’ll escalate to get a technician scheduled ASAP.

Hi — I’m Charlotte. I’m sorry you feel this way and we take allegations of fraud very seriously.

To look into this I need your IMEI or order reference — without that we can’t address your specific concerns. Please either reply with your IMEI/order ID or use the Live Support link on your tracking page so we can investigate right away.

For transparency, our Terms state that "All of the services offered on this website are entirely legal in Europe and North America," and we also make clear we "will not tolerate any attempts to obtain our services by fraudulent means."

Please send the IMEI or open Live Support and I’ll personally get this checked.

Unclear pricing,expensive

The pricing is unclear with a two step process to get the phone unlocked. This makes it expensive overall. The first stage is not refundable and I suspect catches a lot of people out.

Reply from Direct Unlocks

Hi — thanks for the feedback, I totally understand how that two‑step price can feel frustrating.

A quick clarification from our terms: “Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable.” and “there may be an additional price to pay for the sim unlock itself, this will be stated on your order summary page prior to purchase.” This is why the initial £14.99 is charged separately — it covers the network/blacklist/activation checks we perform before committing to an unlock.

Your order (placed 25 Apr 2026) shows you’ve paid £14.99 for the Eligibility Check and are “Only paid for Eligibility Check, awaiting Unlocking Payment of £42.00.” To proceed, please initiate the £42.00 unlocking payment via your Tracking page — once paid we’ll begin the unlock and keep you updated.

If you’d like, I can walk you through the Tracking page or answer any questions about what the check found. — Charlotte

Hi — Charlotte here. I’m really sorry this felt like a bait-and-switch.

I can investigate, but I need your IMEI or for you to use the Live Support on your tracking page — without any order reference we can’t find or resolve this for you.

A couple of relevant points from our policies:
- “It is not possible to cancel your order once it is paid for.” (Terms 2.1)
- Refunds are given in specific cases such as “Incorrect Unlocking Code” or “Criteria Mismatch”, and some items (e.g. “Pre-orders” / eligibility checks) are not refundable. (Terms 7.3; Refund Policy)

If an extra $54 was requested it may be an upgrade/remote service required for your device — we’ll explain that once we can see your order. Please either paste your IMEI here or open Live Support from your tracking page and we’ll sort it out.

This service is at best, misleading and, at worst, a calculated stall tactic designed to hold your money hostage.

This service is, at best, misleading and, at worst, a calculated stall tactic designed to hold your money hostage.

I paid $174 for a “Premium” unlock service with the expectation of expedited, professional handling. What I got instead was a months-long loop of scripted responses, empty promises, and zero tangible progress.

From the very beginning, the pattern was obvious:

The order was immediately labeled “99% complete” and stayed there indefinitely.
Every inquiry was met with the same recycled explanation about “network delays” and “provider checks.”
No actual proof of progress was ever provided.
No real ETA was given - just vague phrases like “imminently” and “very soon.”

Let’s be clear: nothing that sits at 99% for weeks or months is actually 99% complete. That’s not a delay, that’s a stall.

The most frustrating part is the refund policy, which feels intentionally designed to trap customers:

You cannot cancel once you’ve paid
You cannot get a refund for delays
You only qualify for a refund if they decide the service has “failed”

So they can keep your order in a perpetual “in progress” state and avoid refunding you indefinitely. That is not a legitimate service model. That’s a loophole.

Customer support made repeated commitments that were simply not honored:

Promised updates within 24 hours - missed
Claimed escalation - no visible result
Assured priority handling - no change in status

At one point, even after escalation, the only “update” was that the order was still “99% complete.” That’s not an update. That’s copy-paste deflection.

The tone of support tries to sound empathetic, but the substance never changes. It’s the same script over and over, designed to keep you waiting just a little longer.

Bottom line:

You pay upfront
They lock you into their terms
They delay endlessly
They discourage refunds while claiming progress

This is not a premium service. It’s a premium-priced waiting game with no accountability.

Avoid this company.

Hi — I’m Charlotte. I’m really sorry for the frustration you’ve had — that’s not the experience we want.

Quick facts from your order: you paid $174 for Premium Service on Jan 9, 2026 to unlock an iPhone 16 (Boost USA) via directunlocks.com. Your order status is In Process and currently shows 99% complete — it should be completed imminently.

A couple of helpful quotes from our terms so you know where we stand:
- “It is not possible to cancel your order once it is paid for.” (Terms 2.1)
- “Premium Services which fail - both your Standard and Premium payments will be fully refunded back to your card if it is not possible to unlock your device having tried Premium Service.” (Terms 7.9)
- Unlock step for iPhones: “connecting the phone to WiFi and turning the phone off and then on;” (Terms 8.1)

What I’ll do now: I’m escalating this to our senior unlocking team and will request a clear status update. I’ll get back to you within 24 hours with what they say. In the meantime please keep the phone on WiFi and watch for our completion email (also check spam). Thanks for your patience — I’ll push for a concrete update.

I wouldn't use this service again

It's just to limited on the information and what the "initial" unlock check "fee" does. Misleads you to thinking it will request to unlock your phone, when it's actually just the checks.

I read the details prior to ordering, and it makes it seem like it will alert you straight away of any additional fees that might be requested, but that isn't true. It isn't until you pay the initial amount that it will do some 'checks' and only then, give you an (arbitrary?) amount to pay to unlock your phone.

I can't say it's a scam, however, it's misleading for sure. Ideally, the information that it requires a certain amount to do a scan/check should be make more clear to users.

Hi — Charlotte here, sorry the process felt misleading. You’re right that the initial payment is for our eligibility checks/submission costs. As our Terms state: "Pre-orders, eligibility check, and unlocking costs are incurred immediately upon placing your order." and the policy also explains: "If you decide not to proceed with the unlocking payment, we cannot refund the cost of the Eligibility Checks, as we have already performed the service."

We aim to request any extra payment only after those checks if a different/unexpected service is required — the terms note "there may be an additional price to pay for the sim unlock itself, this will be stated on your order summary page prior to purchase." I’m sorry this wasn’t clearer and I’ll pass your feedback to our website team.

To review your specific case and help further I need your IMEI and order number. In the absence of those we can’t investigate — please reply with IMEI/order number or use the Live Support link on your tracking page so we can resolve this quickly. Thanks, Charlotte.

Complete scam, no unlocking and no refund

You sold me a service to unlock my Claro Samsung A36 Violet mobile phone.

Initially, the cost was €26.99. After making the payment, you informed me that I needed a second payment, as the first payment was only to confirm that the phone could be unlocked.

This already seems like a scam to me, as it wasn't clearly stated.

To avoid losing my money, I made a second payment of €57.

It turns out you don't have an unlocking system; instead, you claim to request the code from Claro. I could have done that myself by contacting them directly, without intermediaries!

After making the payment of €83.99, you now inform me that the phone cannot be unlocked and refuse to refund my money.

I don't want credit for your services that I will never use.

This is a scam. Give me my money back. I will take this to the fullest extent of the law through my bank and Visa, and I will also leave negative reviews on any website or forum about your terrible service.

Hi — I’m really sorry this has been so stressful.

I can confirm your two payments (€26.99 Eligibility Check and €57 Standard Unlock) were refunded and your order shows as "Refunded Via Card" (order placed Apr 20, 2026). Normally “Eligibility Check: These checks are non‑refundable,” but in this case refunds were processed. As our Terms state, “The service of sourcing and supplying any unlock solution begins at the point payment has been received…” — we work with networks to obtain official IMEI unlocks rather than supplying a DIY code.

Please check with your bank (card refunds can take several business days). If the refund hasn’t appeared in 7–10 business days, reply here with your order number and a screenshot of your bank statement (last 4 digits only) and I’ll escalate this to our billing team right away. If you’d prefer, we can also try to re-attempt the unlock — let me know which you’d like and I’ll help.
