Customer service at DirecTV…
I called customer service at DirecTV last month to make sure my rates wouldn’t increase while I’m currently out on medical disability.
Unfortunately, my discount had fallen off and my monthly rate did go up. I called back and was able to connect with Blake—and I’m extremely grateful that I did!
Blake was incredibly understanding, pleasant, patient, and genuinely helpful. With so many different packages and discounts available, I was a bit nervous and unsure if I would even qualify for anything. Being on a tight budget makes situations like this especially stressful.
He took the time to carefully review my past rates and options, and thanks to his persistence and guidance, we were able to adjust my plan and keep my rate much more manageable. I truly appreciate the effort he put in—it made a big difference, especially since I was very close to canceling my service altogether.
What stood out even more was how he kept me engaged throughout the process. Instead of placing me on hold in silence, he conversed with me while multitasking, which made the experience feel much more personal and less stressful.
Blake is a fantastic representative for the company, and I’m very thankful for the excellent customer service he provided!
App won’t allow managing preset recordings
App gives you poor control over the DVR. A special program delayed the programs that follow so we knew we either had to extend the recording time or set it to record the next program. The app would not extend the time and it would not record the news which was the next program. So we called tech support but only got to talk to AI which said they couldn’t do it either. We could only do it on the TV. We’re out-of-town so we just lose half of the program we set to record. You’d think they could automatically extend the time when the program is delayed from its scheduled time.

I have been a DIRECTV customer since 2004, and my recent experience has been extremely disappointing. In December, a representative told me I needed to “downgrade” my equipment and that it would cost $150. Today, another representative informed me that DIRECTV does not downgrade boxes at all and that there is only one box type for everyone. This means the information I received earlier was completely false.
I was also promised a $200 promotional gift card that I never received. Every time I followed up, I was given inconsistent explanations and no resolution. After more than 20 years as a loyal customer, I expected honesty and clear communication, not contradictory instructions and unfulfilled promises.
To add to the confusion, I was told I would need to return my equipment after cancellation, only to later be told that nothing needs to be returned and that I should simply dispose of it. The lack of accurate information has caused unnecessary stress and wasted time.
I am sharing this review so others are aware of the issues I encountered. DIRECTV needs to improve transparency, communication, and follow‑through with long‑time customers.
They don't care
it's been 3 weeks and not 1 local channel, because they don't care, it's not their business.

I attempted to cancel my DirecTV service and specifically requested that it be terminated effective immediately. I clearly stated multiple times that I did not authorize any service or billing beyond that date.
Despite this, I was told my service would remain active until the end of the billing cycle and that I would continue to be charged. There was no flexibility for same-day disconnection or any meaningful consideration for prorated billing—even though I would no longer be using the service.
What makes this even more frustrating is that DirecTV prorates billing when you sign up, but does not offer the same fairness when you try to cancel. That inconsistency feels one-sided and not customer-focused.
The representatives were polite, but the process felt rigid and dismissive of a clear customer request. Being required to pay for a service you’ve already asked to cancel is disappointing and outdated.
If you’re considering DirecTV, just know that cancelling may not be straightforward, and you could end up paying for time you’re not even using.
Customer service shouldn’t feel like a one-way contract.
CNN needs to be removed
Happy with service. Unhappy that CNN is still carried. After they drank the trump koolaid, I will never watch cnn again. Wish they would drop them.

When I called to sign up for service they informed me that I would get all local channels however when I got connected they did not offer fox23 wxxa from albany ny ,that was year ago, still don't get it they claim they will get back but it been since early 2022 they took fox23 wxxa from albany ny from their lineup, they lied to me.
Be careful what you sign up for
We rented a premium channel and worked for every movie we recorded. Cost went up to $400! Customer service absolutely horrible. They can't tell me how to use it or what I get for the $29.99 we paid for the channel. They can't tell me what movies have been rented until the bill comes out. Totally blindsided by our bill. And no one will listen. Now we're stuck in a contract for 2 years that we can't get out of. DirecTV does have some benefits over streaming (if you don't get the streaming version) but be very careful or they will take all your money!

They canceled my service without my permission with no past due invoices. They refused to remove their 400.00 cancellation fee from my bill. I filed a complaint with bbb. I received a call from Melissa in their escalation department. Instead of fixing my bill, she shouted me down repeatedly, and refused to correct their error. Next step is filing criminal fraud charges with the ohio attorney general.

Directv is a f**kin rip off!!! All they care about is getting their money. They provide poor service and are overpriced!!! The same shows are played repeatedly and they provide nothing new to watch. The cable service sucks! The non-speaking English customer service sucks! Don't waste your money. Get a bunch of streaming apps and you'll pay a lot less then what they charge. I can no longer get my local weather for my area. I get oklahoma city weather which is 90 miles west of me. I used to get tulsa weather which is what I want as I live just south of tulsa. The guide started being bad by reducing the number of channels I could see at one time. This happened in Jan or Feb 2026. Today mar 6, I turned on the app. Had to re-sign in and now the guide screen is a half size and only shows what is coming on for 1.5 hours. Charged After canceling
I had a very frustrating experience with DIRECTV. I called specifically to cancel my service because I am currently unemployed and trying to cut expenses. Instead of processing the cancellation, the representative suggested pausing my service for three months. I questioned this because I didn’t understand the point, and I was reassured that I would not be charged during the pause. Based on that information, I agreed.
Despite this, I was still charged for an additional month. This unexpected charge caused serious issues with my checking account during an already difficult financial situation. When I contacted support again and showed that I had been told I wouldn’t be charged, I was only offered a 50% refund, which feels unfair given that I relied on the information provided by their own representative.
I did not consent to being billed after requesting cancellation, and the lack of accountability and partial refund offer was extremely disappointing. Customers should not be misled into service pauses that still result in charges, especially when they are clearly trying to cancel due to financial hardship.
Something happened a few months ago…
Something happened a few months ago that really affected the service I receive through DIRECTV. Now very often when we try to rewind a recorded program the app shuts down and we have to start all over. There are many glitches in the system these days. It is getting to the point where I am looking at other providers to record my programs.
Terrible connection on DirecTV
I have had DirecTV for 4 months & I constantly get the message “when the network is heavily congested your video may not play smoothly“ when I turn on the tv or even change channels. This message has lasted as long as 10 minutes before I got so frustrated & tried other station or turned the tv off. I have changed channels & sometimes the message is not there & other times it is.
