Once Great Bank

Prior to being sold, Discover Bank was wonderful. I have banked with Discover for thirty-six years. Since the acquisition, it has become a hassle to look at my accounts and transfer money. After successfully logging on, it asks for your username and password a second time. Why? The problem is when adding your password, the site adds spaces to your password. You are unable to see what you are typing in order to correct it. You would think a company worth billions of dollars could fix this issue especially when brought to their attention. The other issue I have is a 2fa phone number is listed that I did not enter. I have called several times and they either refuse or are unable to remove the phone number. I asked what the phone number is and they won’t tell me. Makes me wonder why someone else has a back door to my account.

Don't bank with Discover

I was with discover a few years and loved it and recommended it to everyone.. .not anymore..I took an unpaid medical leave from my job and took 500 from my savings and transferred to my discover checking..I was suspiciously scammed for exact same amount right after that..and learned about the charges BEFORE they posted and told discover they were fraudulent charges for Verizon when I didn't have Verizon..They said I Had to wait and let them post then appeal them.I did and jumped through a lot of hoops..including receiving confirmation from Verizon that I didn't have an acct..after all that Discover still denied the claim saying it was valid..hogwash..Verizons fraud dept told me Discover would have known the phone attached to the charges wasn't Verizons number and a known fraud number yet they still made the charge go thru..I even sent a letter to the main headquarters since my feeling was there was a bad egg in the fraud dept at discover causing the charges themselves since the amount was strangely the same as my deposit..no response from headquarters..they did not have my back with my own money..I'm single and not rich and needed my money to live on..sure theres cash back checking with Discover...but they giveth ..and taketh away.. I steer everyone I know away from them now and they lost what could have been a lifelong customer

Very Unfriendly with Lots of Loopholes To Keep Your Money

No cell phone? Just try to close an account without one! This bank has rules, procedures and takes full advantage of banking laws to keep your money. Be aware that changing your account maturity instructions online invalidates a future change and eliminates any grace period. They also have extremely poor customer service whose first language is not English since they cannot understand simple instructions via their Secure Message Center. Hanging up on a customer is not a good policy either.

Can’t use debit card or deposit check

This bank no longer functions. My debit card gets declined all the time for “account security” and I cannot deposit checks because the AI in charge of the bank cannot read the numbers.

Discover won’t let me submit the check on mobile app for human review so I have to spend postage mailing in checks to deposit now. What is the point of a bank that doesn’t let you make deposits or spend your own money?

This bank is to stay away from

This bank is to stay away from. It’s not easy to say, but I must they are crooks. They will steal your money with the only way to complain is in a court room. I asked to speak with management and was told, not an option. There is loads of bad reviews about these crooks on the internet and all well deserved, stay far away from discover crooks.

NEVER DO BANKING WITH DISCOVER

The sign up process was some 2hst smooth however been with the bank over 90 days STILL NOT ABLE TO SIGN UP FOR ZELLE. With no reason at all. I have Chase and Wlls Fargo i did not have any problems.Having zelda with them either. Even though discover rates are great, but issues with the account other than zelle their accounts are just not functional.Even with money in their accounts, i'm not able to make purchases.I'm not able to use my debit card payments.Keep declining. When I do my bill payments, they keep declining even with money. In them so this bank cannot be trusted. You can't even use the funds that is in there.I would not recommend this bank to anyone, not even to my worst enemy.

Everyone needs to ditch Discover Bank…

Everyone needs to ditch Discover Bank and find a new bank or just use cash!!! They have gone downhill fast and offer NOTHING to customers, all they want is to have all your money to use to lend out!! After being with them for YEARS I had a duplicate charge for a monthly subscription which I had to request a refund for and it was approved and I offered to give them a copy of it, but they instead returned my $800 rent check over $32 negative balance and the credit with the credit for $25 on the way plus another credit of $6.99 I was also wrongly charged which they are crediting me for that was a 7 day trial for American Greeting AND my $20 in rewards is about to hit my account too!! They are jerks, their customer service sucks and they don’t even offer emergency OD coverage unless you have money in your savings gs to pull to use. I can go to ANY bank and be offered the same, they don’t give a crap about their customers and getting worse now that Capital One bought them out! AVOID THEM they are users and takers and treat the customers as $ and have horrible, incompetent and rude customer service and supervisors who do not listen and just repeat the same answer which does nothing g to solve the issue you contact them about!! They just lost not only one pension but a second that had not yet started. Their motto should be We don’t care about anything or anyone”. Banks are supposed to be there for the people but are now filled with psychopaths who are only there to take all they can get, and offer nothing!! Their savings and CD rates are no better than other banks either.

I have 5 CDs that I opened

I have 5 CDs that I opened, and Discover did a transfer from my bank account to fund them. I did not want to renew, and they advised me that if I wanted the cash to be transferred to my bank, it would be $30 per CD. It is a rip-off. Please be aware they add money by transfer but charge to return the money unless you pay $30. Do not even try to get them listed in your Living Trust name they were not interested.. Savers, be aware. They send Checks and we all know checks can take 3 time as long to arrive as well as they are not secure. Never going to do business with them

I use Discover Bank as Savings Account

I have used Discover Bank simply as a savings account for several years. Unlike my bank that pays almost no interest, I am getting 3.5% on my savings at Discover. I occasionally transfer money to & from my checking account and have had no problems at all with transactions. I also had a CD for 2 years with no issues.

Ruined my life

Why write a long, boring, specific rant about my sob story? They ruined my life. They screwed over my customers and suppliers. They imploded my business. They destroyed my relationships. They stole my money. They wasted my time. They enriched my lawyers. They obstructed my retirement. But they didn't kill my dog or sleep with my wife, so here's a star.

Discover bank left me stranded without…

Discover bank left me stranded without any way to pay my tab. They kept saying to use another payment method. I got rid of my credit cards and have my money in the bank. Now without warning you are shutting down at 10:30 PM on Saturday! And you don't know how long and I'm sitting at the bar past 12am and still nothing!!!??!! No emails, text, letter head, nothing. No warning given and you know what ZERO PHUKS given by these people.

I have been a customer since 2021 and after last night 5-10-25, I'm switching back to a brick and mortar bank. One that actually tells it's customers that they won't access so make arrangements.
Luckily it's a private club and they knew me and said pay us tomorrow. I can't imagine the people stranded trying to get gas or something. This is a HUGE problem. Over the last year they have gone crazy with the fraud protection, and basically you can't do a lot of online stuff because they just won't let you. Hard to withdraw money unless you have the new card which they won't send until it's time. I need a real bank again, I can't be out on the busiest night of the week and told to fly a kite by my bank. You lost a customer and I'm not sure if this is all because changes are happening. I heard Capital One is buying Discover so it my get a lot worse. I'm tired of bad customer service and last night really didn't make me feel good or confident in my bank. Discover literally left me there with no way to pay. I literally showed my account to the bar tender and manager to show I had money, and I showed them the stupid maintenance message on the banks app.

Again if they had given PROPER NOTICE, this wouldn't have happened. Because Discover failed to give me notice I didn't pull out money ahead of time. Good bye very soon Discover. I've had enough.

Horrible a pain in my ass

Horrible a pain in my ass. Bounced my mobile deposit. Left me stranded on the side of the road because I wasn't able to withdraw funds. I hate this bank with a passion. Same hatred I have for snakes, liars and thieves, incidentally this bank is all of those above. Customer service is no help. I joined this bank thinking it would be better! The worst banking experience in history.

Do NOT sign up for an online CD unless…

Do NOT sign up for an online CD unless you know ALL the facts WHICH THEY DON"T TELL YOU. When the CD matures, you can't have an ACH transfer done lol. This is a joke. You either have to have the money wired (WHICH COSTS YOU $30!) OR you can have a check sent to you in 5-7 business days...how absurd! Either way they make money. I decided on the wire but you have to call them up, go thru the form, then use THEIR company to take a picture of both you and your drivers license or passport. Well, after 10 minutes, i couldn't do it. It wouldn't take my pic. So i said, forget it and send me the check. Now why would it take 5-7 BUSINESS days for them to mail it to me? Nothing has to clear. They've had my money for 9 months lol. So by the time it arrives it could be 9 or 10 days from the time i close it - and who knows how long of a hold is on the check. After the process was done, I found out they were sending the check out TODAY while it was supposed to be sent out in 3 weeks, when the CD matures . Thank the Lord they have taped conversations. All morning I spent on the phone with them. HORRIBLE
