3000kr wasted
We had an appointment with Kim on 10 May 2023. We were disappointed with the advice we received and he refused to refund his fee even when we proposed buying 20,000+ kr. of goods on his website.
• He arrived 75 minutes late, but did not tell us until he was already 55 minutes late, forcing us to postpone another appointment at short notice
• His advice contradicted the advice we received from impartial experts (including OBH and an independent basement specialist). For example
•• Kim told us that we didn’t need a fan in the bathroom if we had them in all bedrooms. In fact for heat recovery the most important room to have a fan in is the bathroom.
•• Kim recommended putting insulation inside our basement wall under the stairs. Our basement expert strongly recommended putting this insulation on the outside of the wall instead.
•• Kim told us to call a plumber to fix a leak in the basement without speaking to our insurance. We ignored this advice and learnt that we could have risked invalidating our insurance claim if we had done this.
•• Kim provided incorrect dimensions for the locations of ventilation fans that did not match what it says in their own manuals
•• Kim strongly recommended his own products over the Duka system, despite them being more expensive and less tested. He initially did not make clear when recommending this product that he had a direct financial incentive tied to it.
Given the above, we did not want to proceed with Kim for our renovations. We understood that his 3000kr fee was refundable if we bought anything from him so we proposed buying 20000+ kr Duka fans from his website. Only at this point did he tell us we could not get the 3000kr back unless we went with his full (100000kr.+) recommendation.
Once we made it clear we were not satisfied with Kim’s recommendations, his communication became rude and aggressive.
We told Kim that we did not think that 3000kr. was a fair price for the advice he provided and that we would reflect this in our review. At this point he accused us of threatening him and made it very clear we had to pay him 3,000kr for the <1 hour he spent at our house (even though his website talks about “free advice” and when he originally told us about the 3,000kr. fee he said it could be offset against any goods and services purchased).
In addition his website has not been properly secured, and you will be redirected to explicit adult websites if you click on links on his website.
We wish we had read the other reviews on this site properly before booking our appointment. Learn from our mistake and do not use this company!
