Time and time again

Time and time again, they are aaking me to send an email to cancel my policy. I must not be saying no clearly enough, or I am not saying a different magic word, because I can't seem to cancel the policy in a country I don't live in anymore. NEVER use them! The bureaucracy of trying to get a refund, let alone cancel all the policies, is a nightmare.

If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely terrible customer support, rejection and games over claims even with proper documentation. Wouldn't even let me cancel my policy because then I missed the deadline by a day? Absolutely absurd and a joke of insurance. Any other company I have used is better.

Rip off ! Stay away !!

Following an ordeal of intentional delays of medical bill acceptance and misallocation of policy emails I contacted DKV head office to mitigate further issues.
A complete waste of time : questions were still not answered, delay tactics continue in what can only be assumed to be company method in order to avoid their contractual obligations, aka PAY REFUND !
Additionally I had to learn, that Emergency room visits ARE NOT COVERED !
A useless, expensive policy, incompetent, malintended personel and philosophy.
Rip off !!
Stay away !!

Worst experience for English speakers

Just went we thought moving to Spain would be a dream come true, we encountered DKV. My partner got a DKV health cover through his company and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. We have been racially profiled, told that we have no business being in Spain if we can’t speak Spanish, given 100 different numbers to call to confirm appointments and what not.
We are just grateful we haven’t had any major life threatening issue else god knows what would happen. I would sincerely urge anyone who does not speak Spanish to never consider DKV.

He tenido una experiencia pésima con DKV Seguros. Llevo desde septiembre intentando obtener una autorización para una Angio Resonancia cerebral, una prueba médica crucial para diagnosticar una deformación entre una arteria y una vena en mi cabeza. He enviado la solicitud seis veces y cada vez me piden algo diferente. Recientemente, exigen un informe que ya tienen en su sistema en dos documentos separados, lo que deja claro que ni siquiera leen la documentación que reciben.
He tenido que cambiar mi cita médica tres veces debido a su ineptitud. Además, he hablado con el servicio de atención al cliente en varias ocasiones, incluyendo llamadas con Jessica y Patricia, y no han resuelto nada. Este nivel de incompetencia no solo genera frustración, sino que también pone en riesgo la salud de los clientes.
Si valoran su tiempo, su salud o simplemente una gestión decente, huyan de DKV Seguros. No cumplen con las expectativas mínimas de un seguro médico.

A complete disgrace:
I’ve had an absolutely awful experience with DKV Seguros. Since September, I’ve been trying to obtain authorization for a Cerebral Angio MRI, a crucial test to diagnose a deformation between an artery and a vein in my head. I’ve submitted my request six times, and each time they ask for something different. Most recently, they demanded a report that they already have in their system across two separate documents, proving that they don’t even read the paperwork they receive.
I’ve had to reschedule my medical appointment three times due to their incompetence. Additionally, I’ve contacted their customer service multiple times, including calls with Jessica and Patricia, and nothing has been resolved. This level of incompetence is beyond frustrating and actively endangers clients’ health.
If you value your time, your health, or even basic customer service, stay away from DKV Seguros. They don’t meet even the most basic standards for a medical insurance provider.

Worst Customer Experience for English Speakers

DKV has the worst customer experience for English speakers. They keep transfering my policy from phone number to phone number and I can never get a hold of a simple blood test or a consultation.

Almost 1/100 speak English. If you are an English speaker, I suggest research and pay for another insurance provider.

Garbage Customer Service

Garbage customer service. I'm still locked into a policy that I cannot cancel in a timely manner despite having left Spain a year ago. They say they're going to start a claim against me despite trying to cancel my policy since January 2024. They have intentionally designed this prohibitive system to keep you locked in, even when you want out. Absolute trash at best, and fraud at worst. I'll let the lawyers handle them, I'm done with their BS.

Update: DKV flagged my review as fake to prevent you from knowing the truth about them. Unfortunately for them, I have all the evidence I need to prove legitimacy.

DKV Playa Flamenca Orihuela Costa - Josefina

We moved to Spain 2 weeks ago had gone through a company to buy our medical insurance paid in full. When we went into the local office to ask for our DKV cards to be sent there we were told by staff member that our policy had been cancelled. We were in shock but the lovely office manager at Playa Flamenca in Alicante branch Josefina Pujalte was excellent she called people at head office found out what had gone wrong. Explained what we had to do. We followed all her instructions and the following week after many emails to our original person we dealt with it has now been sorted. She was exceptional and we would recommend her to anyone needing help with medical cover.

Possibly the worst customer service I…

Possibly the worst customer service I have ever had! I have had DKV's health insurance for nearly 8 years and until now, with little use, I've had no complaints. My latest experience has been very different. I had a colonoscopy 3 years ago and the clinic found 1 polyp. They recommended a new exam after 3 years. I recently received a reminder from the clinic. So, I went online and had a chat with a doctor from the DKV digestive unit. I explained my situation and submitted the message from the clinic regarding the new test. I then received a prescription from the doctor and, after that, an authorization with a request for more information. There was no explanation as to what information they wanted. I have tried several times in English and in Spanish to find out what kind of information was required. No one was able to explain this to me. I simply wanted to know what steps were necessary to clear the authorisation. Many messages and calls resulted in nothing. In the end my appointment with the clinic was cancelled. The bottom line is that I paid over 2,000 Euros this year for absolutely nothing. My ardent recommendation is that if you have coverage via Salut (the Catalan health service) as I do, I would highly recommend avoiding DKV. They are only interested in getting your money and not in helping their customers! The absolute worst.

Love fact Easy access to Specialists

Love fact I have such Easy access to Specialists with no referral needed No permission from DKV necessary.

If you have a network policy you never pay when using a network listed doctor.
Just look up the specialist you need using the search link then phone confirm you are DKV and attend.

Ignore people on Trustpilot giving DKV a bad review because a hospital or doctor treated them badly.
These people need to understand that the Doctors Network for all insurers is NOT an Insurance Companies recommendation it is simply a list of
choices YOU the customer can make by your own research then decide.

Love the fact that DKV policies say, that if you do not like a clinic or hospital or the doctor or Specialist doctor you attended , then just walk away and under the DKV network policy, the DKV INTEGRAL policy
choose another one in the network.

How easy is that !
I like the fact that I can attend a doctor and not have to pay as DKV settle network listed Doctors direct.

Customer here on trustpilot need to know that it is NOT a hospital or a clinic that is listed with an insurance company it is the individual doctors.

So if you have a network policy and were ever asked to pay REFUSE because this means the doctor will not be a network doctor and if you see that doctor and pay for it, YOU will not be able to claim it.
NETWORK insurances are NOT reclaim policies.
DKV have 11 policy choices. I have a level 7 policy where I can use the network with no upfront payment or I have freedom to choose a doctor not in Spanish network or anywhere in the world and then claim back 90%.

Most on here who purchased for a visa will have the top level of the Spain only network type policy which is the DKV level 4 Integral Elite policy.

So many comments on here show that people simply do not understand how a policy works.

I suggest USE an English agency for DKV policy so you get the proper guidance help and support when you need to use it.
Tailor Made Healthcare Spain are a brilliant DKV main agency for English speakers . You can Google search for their profile reviews in Google Review and contact them to set up a policy. Makes things so much simpler and using an agency does not cost you any more it is same price as going direct to the insurer.

Scammed me 92 euros

Worst insurance company. I had to go to the emergency room after getting a cleaning product in my eye and so I looked in my DKV app for the closest hospital in my plan. DKV showed me various options under my plan so I took a taxi to the closest hospital near me. when I arrived I was told I had to pay 92 euros for the visit because it apparently wasn’t included in my plan! I paid for the visit and then sent an email to DKV explaining the situation, expecting them to at least reimburse me for the visit at least given the fact that they told me it was included in my plan. But no. DKV did NOT reimburse me for the visit despite the fact that they told me this hospital was included in my plan. Complete scam. I’ll be going with a different insurance company next year, one that doesn’t scam their customers.

10 months into our insurance policy, my girlfriend became ill very quickly and it was hospitalised with Type 1 Diabetes. Salus/DKV refused to cover anything, leaving us with a huge bill, and their reasoning was that my girlfriend 'could' have had it laying dormant for a long time. We provided 3 letters all from different doctors confirming this was not the case and they responded each time with a blunt 'no'. They are money grabbing and will do anything not to pay out. Absolutely disgraceful company.

Scam

They try to gather contact details with a price that does not exist on the site. If you're a working professional, stay away from DKV - they are a sketchy call center/sweatshop trying to get your contact and spam you with phone calls, messages, emails and they sound real sketchy when you say no. I feel like I stepped in a piece of poop and ruined a nice pair of shoes with these people.

Awful awful service

Awful awful service. They make so many mistakes (declined coverage for certain specialists when it said it was covered in the contract / sent the wrong reimbursement amount) and the only way to contact the reimbursement department is via email. No one can help you on the phone.

They will create ANY EXCUSES not to reimburse you and/or request the same information over and over again when you already sent them the form with that information included.

The craziest one was DKV declining reimbursement because one of my physicians didn't have a certain type of license in Spain. My physician was surprised because 1. that license was not required for his practice 2. why didn't they list that in the contract as a requirement?

Avoid this insurance at all costs.

DKV would not cover a Prostate…

DKV would not cover a Prostate Biopsy…The urologist office did not respond in time so I paid 2.500 out-of-pocket. The reason they would not cover it was because the sequence of PSA bloodwork was not on their timeline. I had a lesion detected while the insurance was in effect…and brought in MRI results from the US along with 3 years of medical history.

Not getting the help i need

I have a tumor between the spines of my back. Although it's a Previous known problem, i still have to waith Four years before i can get help by insurance. I am not mobil, i can barely walk, i can barely stand up for 5minutes without going through a hell of pain. I can not work anymore. This is litterly killing everything, my working life, my personal life, my social life, my mental state of mind. I know it are the rules but it doesn't make ant sence to torture a human being like this. This violates human rights. This going on for two years, two years of hell. Paying so much money to have insurance. A big Company like DKV should stand up for there People's health.

Great, for now. Unexpectedly, I had an operation in a private hospital, approved by DKV. I had a private room, excellent doctors and care. Since everything was sudden, I was worried about how I would get approval, so I sent a request to the application, then emails... Thank God, they approved everything, of course, and they sent an email that most of the approvals are done in the official procedure of the approved hospital and insurance and not to worry. So, in my case EVERYTHING written in the policy was correct and I am grateful. I hope my opinion will still be the same. We received a recommendation for DKV from a friend, who is also very satisfied. High level, professionalism and care for people.

Major breach of trust

Major breach of trust - when i applied for my policy in the DKV office with the member of the sales team, I handed her a paper copy of my application. She then assisted me with submitting an electronic application but with my medical history she told me as all the issues were “resolved” I didn’t need to declare them. I trusted her as a member of DKV sales who does this job every day. The consequence of this is now that my authorisation requests are declined because I didn’t declare my history. I have made a formal complaint to DKV who will not respond to this major breach of trust and lack of professionalism.

Update: response from DKV suggesting I submit a complaint - I’ve already done this and DKV have said they thoroughly investigated and the sales person (“he” although it was a she) has said they didn’t tell me to put this on the form. I’ve had no indication how this affects my policy or the consequences. It seems there is no accountability or responsibility.
