Wonderful excursion!
Saw a lot and fabulous guide ! "My husband and I don't usually book excursions through the cruise ship and this excursion was a great example of why we DON'T book through the cruise ship !! We had 2 other adults with us in an air-conditioned van with lots and lots of windows to see magnificent scenery. That's it; a total of 4 of us. No throngs of people like with the cruise ship. No being herded like sheep and not being able to see out big buses. And, the tour was less expensive than what the cruise ship was offering, which is usually the case when you book outside of the cruise ship. Our guide with Puerto Plata Shore Excursions was Milton and our driver was Fermin (spelling?). These gentlemen took such good care of us with cold water, soft drinks, beer or rum punch, if anyone wanted alcoholic beverages, and fresh bananas picked that morning from a local grower. Milton and Fermin even made sure we were safely in and out of the van at our different stops, which was such a thoughtful thing when I have a bad hip and the other 2 folks on the tour were older folds. We took a tour that seemed to cover, well everything... We saw lovely Puerto Plata historic city sites, as well as a brief beautiful beach stop, beyond incredible vistas atop the mountain, and a cable car/gondola ride down the mountain. Milton's pride in his homeland, Dominican Republic, was evident as he spoke about the different areas. He was funny and poignant and so knowledgeable. The folks at Puerto Plata Shore Excursions are very much aware of cruise ship schedules and make sure you're back onboard the cruise ship with lots of time to spare before the ship departs. "
