Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Reviewers had a great experience with this company. Customers praise the app for its ability to track driving habits, provide insights for improvement, and potentially lead to lower insurance premiums. Many users appreciate the detailed driving feedback and the motivation it provides to become a safer driver. The app is often described as easy to use, working unobtrusively in the background, and offering useful ancillary features like fuel price comparisons. However, some people were dissatisfied with the app's accuracy, particularly regarding phone usage detection while being a passenger or misinterpreting acceleration and braking events. A few other people also felt that the insurance quotes offered through the app were not always competitive, sometimes even being more expensive than those found on comparison websites.

Good Drivers Can Save Money on Car Insurance With DriveScore.

DriveScore is a new app that offers to help users prove and improve their driving skills, enabling them to save money on car insurance quotes and other products. DriveScore uses your phone's sensors to track how you drive, identifying where you could improve.

DriveScore monitors how you drive your car, giving you feedback and insight while building a score that can help you save money with better car insurance deals, by proving to insurers that you’re a good driver.

By putting users in control of data collected as they drive, DriveScore makes driving a safer, cleaner and fairer experience for all. DriveScore studies how you drive, analysing your driving behaviour, giving you valuable insight on your driving style and will directly help you save money on your car insurance.

DriveScore helps you to build better driving habits by offering you personalised driving tips and highlighting areas that you can improve.

FEATURES:

DRIVE
DriveScore automatically measures how you drive, turning your phone into a silent driving coach. It's easy to set up and runs in the background, distraction-free (and won’t drain your battery).

SCORE
Get your own DriveScore, see how you compare and track how your driving changes. See what’s positive and what to work on. Prove how well you drive.

SAVE
Make your miles go further by using DriveScore to shop for better car insurance. Use your score to get enhanced offers from our insurance partners and see if you can save. A smarter, fairer way to buy based on how you drive, not how insurers think you drive.

SEE
View the full details of your trip, including overall drive rating, insights, trip stats and the precise location of each driving event recorded.

FREE
Your data is always in your control and DriveScore will be FREE, forever.

Install DriveScore on your phone, the app will then use the functionality of your smartphone such as the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and GPS readings to determine when you are undertaking a ‘Trip’ in a vehicle.

DriveScore will use these tools to take and record measurements relating to your driving behaviour, including calculating speed, acceleration, braking, cornering and distance travelled.

Demonstrating lower-risk driving behaviour such as smooth cornering and acceleration will lead to a higher DriveScore, while actions such as sudden braking or excessive speeding will lead to a lower DriveScore.

These are some of the factors that insurers may consider when providing a quote for car insurance premiums. DriveScore offers you the opportunity to understand how your driving behaviour may impact the cost of your car insurance premium.

Take DriveScore for a spin, download the app now and help make car insurance fairer for millions of people.

Become a better driver today.

Waste of time

When you have a high score over 860 you do three shortish trips your awarded gold on each trip no mistakes I.e harsh braking/acceleration/everything is perfect yet when you check your score your points have dropped down by at least ten+ points is it really worth all the hassle. At this point in time I'm really considering uninstalling this app as it's in my opinion a total waste of time I've been using this app for about two months what a load of rubbish.

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us feedback regarding the DriveScore app.

If your score has dropped, and you don’t see a reason or an event, it could be due to cornering (including around roundabouts).

You can see events that affect your score in our article.

We would love to sort this out for you. Could you please email us at feedback@drivescore.com?

Many thanks,
Sami

Resistance to embracing challenges …

At first I felt resistance to this app looking at my driving, but over time it has actually encouraged me to be a better driver.
I have noticed that the driving skill that needs the most work is braking and I am now much more consciously aware of this when I am driving and try to become better in this area.

It’s ok but over emphasis hard braking I live in a very rural area with narrow lanes where you need to stop quickly on a regular basis not dangerous just life in the countryside for this my score gets marked down

I really like how accurate it is and…

I really like how accurate it is and how you can report you wasn’t driving, but a link regarding phone use would be good if the passenger uses your phone, your penalised! Excellent otherwise, hoping to see a difference in price next year!

One of the best apps I've ever used, by far!!!

This is one app that just gets better & better!! The insights it gives you about your driving behaviour is fantastic, & has actually improved my driving, as my year score is 921 & my 14 day score is 996, which is well up from when I started using the app 2+ years ago.
The new detailed 'incident reporting' is great for when an idiot pulls out on you, or your passenger is playing on your phone!! But don't cheat, be true to yourself at least!!
I get cheap insurance anyway, with 8 yrs ncb, but the app is still really useful if you care about how you drive, or want to improve!
Well done guys! This is the best app ever!

Educational and rewarding.

A useful app for identifying driving faults and giving advice on improving driving. My one criticism is that the app is a little too sensitive to "hard braking", it's easy to get marked down at traffic lights. The bonus is being able to get discounted car insurance, in my case a £35 saving over the cheapest offerings of all the comparison websites.

A fun number to know, but painfully uncompetitive quotes!

Having driven for over two years with the DriveScore app running and collecting personal driving data, I’ve ended up with a score over 960/1000 as my insurance is up for renewal next month. (I’m told anything over 750 is great)

This has been shared with DriveScore’s selected partners, but the resulting quotes are significantly uncompetitive, over 25% more than insurers who have no access to details of people’s driving characteristics.

So accept your DriveScore as a fun number, but don’t expect it to do you any favours when buying a policy next year given the partners being used.

Ruined my existing cheaper quotes!! I have been using it for over 6 months but with 850+ score, it still just ruined it all in the end.
