Outstanding Service (5 stars)

I was referred to Dr J and Colleagues in late 2024 and my experience has been exceptional. In particular, the ongoing service from Sandra Okoli, Pharmacist Clinician, has been outstanding. Medication has been delivered quickly and efficiently. 10/10.

Very reassuring

I've been going through the titration process with Marylyn Nathan-Wilson and she has been nothing but helpful and kind, she has answered every question I had and re-assured me at every step.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Elaine at Dr SJ & Partners for going above and beyond in helping me today with my ADHD referral. She was incredibly kind, patient, and understanding, and made the whole process feel much less stressful. It’s rare to come across someone so genuinely helpful — her support really meant a lot. Thank you again, Elaine!

My experience was brilliant

My experience was brilliant! The doctor that diagnosed me listened and talked me through everything, waited while I cried and comforted me. After my diagnosis I met Amanda O’Brien who looked after my medication she is an amazing clinician and woman. She helped me she listened she was and still is there for me. Answered every question I had, helped me navigate difficult relationships at work and made me feel good about being me! She took care with my medication and got me to the right dose that worked for me. Regular check-ins and also was there for me whenever I needed someone to just listen, even now when my treatment is complete she is still there and has been there for me. ADHD is confusing I spend decades so unhappy on medication for bipolar it never worked, I survived only for my family I never realised how bad it was. There are things I will always struggle to understand and that is ok because I have the ability to spot things others cannot see! Thank you to the team at Dr J & Colleagues and a special sincere from my heart thank you to Amanda I cannot express enough how you have changed my life! It sounds silly maybe but she literally saved my life. THANK YOU! X

Amanda O'Brien

I've been working with Amanda O'Brien through my tritation and adjustment journey on taking Elvanse and I have to say that she's made a very daunting scenario very easy and stress free. I've been dreading discussing my situation and ailments but it's been very seamless, Amanda always listens, hears me and always has my best interests in her advice, I'm not sure that I could have had a better experience if I'd hand selected my consultant. She's been incredible with me and I'm eternally grateful. The medication has been life changing for me.

I have had a positive experience with Dr J

I have had a positive experience with Dr J from first contact, through diagnosis, and their care afterwards. The reception and admin staff have always been helpful. The doctor at the diagnosis appointment was very reassuring and very thorough. My care since has been with another wonderful doctor who has shown care and compassion. My appointments have been consistent with good communication. There have been a couple of times that appointments have been at different times on our calendars but the problem has always been resolved and the appointments have gone ahead the same day. Overall a good experience and I'm glad I will have their support going forwards.

It took me a long time to get to the…

It took me a long time to get to the stage of choosing a company to go through, I’m pretty thorough and looked at them all.

Some were crazily expensive (basically capitalising on the rise of ADHD referrals) others had a very, very long waiting list, or just something I didn’t like.

I got so far with the company that sounds something like ‘ADHD 180’ but I was underwhelmed after speaking with them, the admin process was very long, and a chance chat with a friends sister revealed she went through them, and although not all bad, confirmed some of my initial doubts.

Eventually I came across Dr J & Colleagues. From the outset, they were friendly and helpful, the process was easy enough to follow, and the waiting time was approx 6-8 weeks, which was very good at the time.

As mentioned, the process was structured well. I found some of the others I looked at had a massive admin task with them, and this is a nightmare for someone with ADHD! (certainly this ADHD persons nightmare!).

My diagnosis meetings were with Dr J, and she was lovely. Just a nice calm person, puts you at ease straight away and makes the assessment more relaxed. There is no medical test that can diagnose ADHD, it is a thorough understanding of your symptoms in both childhood and adulthood that leads to a diagnosis.

My only downside here is I had hoped for more from the report itself. It was a positive diagnosis but everything contained in the report was really just a repeat of things I mentioned, even somewhat copy/pasted in my own words. There were no insights, explanations, confirmations, advice etc.

At the time I was looking forward to the report and was let down by this. I guess I was hoping for more. But I think this is part of the industry, in that how busy they are.

If you are diagnosed, you will then move to titration. My titration has been with the wonderful Marylyn.

Before leaving this review I did a quick scan and can see Marylyn's name mentioned positively many times. This doesn’t surprise me one bit. In fact I feel slightly cheated that she’s like this with everyone! (I’m kidding of course).

Marylyn is such a positive person, I actually look forward to our chats!
A number of times we have run over and often get sidetracked when we are catching up. I have had mixed reactions to medication and finding what works best for me is still in process. My mind/body seems to react differently to it than most. Marylyn has been amazing putting up with me. She is always professional and we have our serious discussions, but we’ve also had a good laugh many times. She’s professional but fun. She might say she’s not, but she is a super positive character/persona, ‘glass is half full’ kind of person - my kind of person.

Reading the many great comments from others about her, you get the overall idea.

She is an asset to her company and her profession!

Overall I thoroughly recommend Dr J and Colleagues, and if you get Marylyn for your tritiation, you’re lucky! You’re in very safe hands.

Poor ADHD assessment (but ok for ASD)

Had an ASD assessment which I was satisfied with, but also went for an ADHD one based on their quick screening test. The ADHD assessor asked if I had difficulties with attention before age 12 to which I replied no, then spent 20 minutes of the 1 hour session asking questions which would be relevant if I was given medication (heart conditions etc.) but that I had already filled out a form for, then said he was ruling out ADHD based on me saying I didn't struggle with attention before age 12 which means all those questions were irrelevant. I felt that ruling it out based on a question which in hindsight I would have answered differently unfairly assumes a certain level of knowledge of how ADHD presents in childhood (which is different in women as well) and I wasn't given any guidance on what the symptoms might be that he was asking for

Outstanding care - highly recommend

Dr J and Colleagues provided me with outstanding care throughout every phase of the process. I was impressed by how well Dr J was prepared for my ADHD assessment. It was clear to me that he had read everything in my file prior to the assessment. I have dealt with a lot of ADHD medical professionals and Dr J is one of the best. He understood how much I had been suffering as I was previously diagnosed with ADHD and had been on medication in the US. I had gone over a year without being medicated. Dr J clearly explained the next steps and what to expect. Marylyn, on Dr J.'s team is a expert in her field and provided me with exceptional care. I will be forever grateful to Marylyn. I am now on the right medication and every aspect of my life has improved. I highly recommend Dr J and Colleagues. I want to thank them all for making the process so simple for a person with severe ADHD.

Cqc complaint incoming

So bad that I’m complaining to the CQC and via NHS, as I was referred via the right to choose method. To cut a long story short I had an ASD assessment, the ADOS assessor was lovely, I felt comfortable and everything was ok. The second part was terrible, a 2hour blocked meeting ended after 45mins. I was constantly cut off. The dr was unprofessional and rude. On receiving the report, it is filled with errors, even basic error like I don’t drive. However the opening sentence is “the ados assessor found X not to have ASD” whereas this was the complete OPPOSITE! So I have 2 assessments, one saying I have ASD and the other not! There is some serious QA needs to be done with this company, their after care and complaints procedure is non existent. The lack of professionalism is embarrassing at best

6 months later and I'm very happy

I had a great experience with Dr J and Colleagues. I think my initial wait was about 4/5 months but this was largely due to issues with my GP. From my first appointment when I received a diagnosis of ADHD to my titration appointments with Sandra, everything was smooth sailing. After 6 months of titration, I've just been referred back to my GP for shared care as I'm on a medication dose I am happy with and benefits me greatly.

A really positive experience with Dr J and Colleagues

I chose Dr J and Colleagues to complete my ADHD right to choose assessment. The process was explained clearly and I found it really useful to have multiple email reminders before appointments. Everyone I spoke to were kind, compassionate and professional. I do, however, need to shout out two people in particular. Thank you to Elaine who works in admin. When I was having issues sorting out an address to have my medication delivered to, she was so helpful and kind. Her patience and friendly manner really made me less anxious about the whole debacle. Finally, a huge thank you to my supervising pharmacist, Ireti Blankson. I hope you get Ireti for your supervisor. She answered my ten thousand questions, was always happy and warm and talked me through all the different stages clearly and carefully. Her demeanour and approachability were such that by the time I got to the end of tritation, it was like having a conversation with a friend. I felt really cared for at every step.

Transformed because of Marylyn and the whole Dr J team

I have been a patient of Dr J's for about eight months and have been so impressed with my experience. I was referred through my GP under the Right to Choose programme. After a few months I had my assessment which was thorough and compassionate. I felt trusted and heard. My results were provided that day and I was able to begin my titration process very quickly after that. Whenever I deal with the administrative staff, they respond promptly and there is no sense of ‘computer says no’. They are so reasonable and helpful. But most of all, I am so grateful for Marylyn, my specialist. She is such a lovely human being. So knowledgeable and willing to teach. So empathetic and willing to listen. She always sends links to articles or other resources so I can better understand my condition. She effectively guided me through titration, helping me identify what worked and didn’t work for me. We ended up with a course of medication and behavioural supports that have given me an entirely new life. She is reassuring and helpful, always making time to talk through issues. Despite what I know is an incredibly busy schedule, Marylyn never makes me feel rushed. I have heard the nightmares of others in the Right to Choose landscape, and I feel for them. I am so grateful my GP suggested Dr J, as my experience with the team and especially Marylyn has been literally a lifesaver. My life is entirely transformed thanks to her and the team.

My pharmacist is excellent

I’ve been under their care now for several months undergoing titration since my initial ADHD diagnosis with them, and I’m extremely happy with the service and care provided. My quality of life has improved leaps and bounds since beginning titration with no untoward side effects.

My pharmacist Marylyn is especially excellent! I couldn’t be any happier she is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and is very patient with me & a great listener.

I’d absolutely recommend her and the company to anybody.

A great journey from start to end

I registered with DRSJ through Right-to-Choose, as they had the shortest waiting times according to ADHDUK. Once DRSJ had received the referral, the wait time was exactly 4 months - much quicker than other clinics! The assessment was with Dr Khan and it went well - got asked a few concise questions and got a diagnosis.
Titration started a month after with Marylyn, which overall was much better than expected! I felt trusted, actively involved in the decisions and encouraged to learn more about the medications I was taking, which in my opinion is how all of healthcare should be!
Marylyn was also very acommodating, maximising the time between apts to allow for me to thoroughly assess how the medication was affecting me, and allowing me to try a bunch of different combinations/doses to see what worked. Overall, Marylyn was professional but also caring and attentive, and was instrumental to me finding the right treatment!
As with other positive reviews, I recommend Dr J and colleagues - genuinely a life-changer
