Poor Communication and Lack of Guidance Throughout

Our family used Dwyer’s Solicitors in Ashton-Under-Lyne to handle the estates of my late mother and stepfather, whose wills were made with the company. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the outset.

Communication was minimal, and key steps were not clearly explained. We were not informed about the need for a property valuation early on, which caused delays, and there was little guidance about the probate process. I often had to research and chase updates myself. Later, we received an unexpected bill for additional charges relating to our calls and emails, despite never being told that general communication would incur extra fees.

When conveyancing began, we were not told in advance that it would be handled by a separate solicitor. The solicitor assigned was often unavailable, and information about the sale mainly came from the auction house rather than the solicitor. Only near the end did we learn from a locum solicitor, that conveyancing was charged at a set fee and that we could have asked questions freely.

The process ended with an error in our final payment, which caused further delay and anxiety. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and lacked the clarity and communication we expected during such an important and sensitive time.
