College of Wizardry

I participated in several College of Wizardry larps. Everyone of them was a unique experience - all of them had in common that they created emotions and magical memories that I will remember my whole life. Diving into another reality and another character for a couple of days is the best possible vacation from everyday-life. And every single event I attended has brought new, amazing people into my life, some of which have become my closest friends.

Demeter

'The last voyage of the Demeter' is a larp based upon the 'what happened' question left open in 'Dracula' by Bram Stoker. The Demeter being the ship that brought Dracula to England - with no living soul aboard.
The event is well designed, the ship chosen a true traditional sailing-ship from the early 1900.
The larp offers pre-written characters ranging from poor sailor to well-off billionair. According to that status there are 4 different categories of lodging. Non of it is spacious - you're on a ship - but there is room enough for basic stuff. Meals and water, coffee and tea are included in the ticket. Alcohol can be bought aboard (Beer, Wine) - but you are well advised to keep a clear mind as you have to be fit enough to hoist sails and take on daily chores (polishing brass, sweeping the deck etc). And that brings me to the wonderful interlacing of learning how to sail on an actual sailing ship on the baltic sea and playing your character while doing so. It is simply amazing how fast you will pick up basic skills and knots under the instruction of profoundly experienced sailors. Everyone is invited to participate in the sailing. Nobody needs previous experience, not even the ones playing sailor characters.
Every participant is asked to take on some light duties - ranging from sweeping to setting tables or chopping veggies (you're working in set teams for the whole duration of the trip). This adds to the whole experience and offers wonderful possibilities to create game (e.g. the rough sailor having to deal with the constantly complaining rich lady)
The larp itself is written to go on day and night although days are mainly used for sailing. Once anchored for the night the larp goes full-scale as gothic horror works best after nightfall, doesn't it? But don't expect huge special effects - we're not talking Hollywood splatter-movie. The concept of horror at this larp is much more subtle and plays on your character's fears/quirks/dark
secrets.
I can only fully recommend this larp as a very special, very holistic experience. I had not a clue about sailing before, played a sailor and had an absolute blast.

College of Wizardry

I participated in College of Wizardry in November 2015, and it was amazing! I played a teacher at the school, and I had excellent help from the staff in preparing my role, getting props, and planning events for my classes. The castle was just perfect for a magical school, with beautiful rooms, windy stairs, towers and everything, and the surrounding castle ground and forest area were beautiful and filled with possibilities for fund and adventures. During the event, the staff was always helpful and professional about even the smallest details, both in and out of the game, and they created a great LARP for all the participants.
All in all, this was a lifetime experience, and I strongly recommend it to anyone who has ever dreamed of attending a college of wizardry :-)

Fairweather Manor

I participated in Fairweather Manor in 2016; it was my second LARP ever, and I enjoyed it very much. The whole thing was very precisely planned and prepared. The workshops and design document made the game quite clear for me. Other participants are in their roles all the time - which makes the whole fantasy much more believable to the senses.
I came in for the costumes and the castle, but if you're searching for romance, old fashioned manners or power coming from belonging to the upper class - you'll find that too.

College of Wizardry

I was on the first run of College of Wizardry and it was a blast. Anyone interested in magical experiences and participatory entertainment should go to College of Wizardry.

The castle is amazing and it really felt like one of those films with kids in a magical school.

CoW is playing make believe the grown up way!

Collage of Wizardry

Collage of Wizardry
The most fantastic experience of my life...I had to do it again so I went back a year later a bit worried to be disapointed since I thought I knew what to expect. But this I learnt. You never know what to expect. Every gameset have their different players and these peoples common imaginaton is the ground to a fantastic adventure. Magical castle surroundings keeps up the illusion of having entered the world of magicans.
Also great arrangements with transfer, food and logement.

College of Wizardry

I went to one of the College of Wizardry LARPs as a complete newbie, tempted in by learning about magic in a castle in Poland. The setting was astounding and the event really well run. There were workshops on the first day to help you realise your character and get to know other players. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming, it was a real mix of long term LARPers and people doing it for their first time. The days were full of lessons (if you wanted!) and you could dive into as many storylines as you could fit in, or take things at a slower pace. It was an unforgettable and emotional weekend, and I will definitely attend a Dziobak production again!

College of Wizardry

The LARP in a Castle is a perfect scenario and setting for everyone. It doesn't matter if you are experienced or a new-comer in role games. Also I would like to mention that surroundings and props perfectly help to immerse in common story. In this larp you have enough time and space to create several storylines. It also gives a possibility to opt out of the game. There are no severe rules, do whatever you want to fill comfortable inside your character. You will see that other players and stuff will help you to do magic. It's a perfect moment for you to be a child, to become someone else, to give space to your imagination. There is no way that you act or behave "wrong". Just remember that in this world everything is possible.

Colledge of wizardry experience

Colledge of wizardry is more than just a larp, it's a life experiment that everyone can live. I was thinking before I did my first "Colledge of Wizardry" that playing a role in english will be difficult, and some of my friends, who never did larp before, were stressed about playing a role. But we didn't have to play, we just have to live. If you don't know what to do, just sit, and listen to the magic classes, watch the fantastic beast dancing in the forest, or just share a beer in the tavern and make new friends (like normal students does actually)

College of Wizardry

Back when the first event come out I was skeptical about if experience could live up to all the stories I had in my head for years, would it feel silly, could I be as invested as I had been in the protagonists in my books. The answer is yes, living the stories is possible. There are so many lovely people working their butts off to make every little detail feel as real as possible. You have your co-players helding you tell your stories and more than once I have found myself wanting to hear everyone's stories and been amazed at how they entwine.

College of Wizardry

My time LARPing at College of Wizardry was extremely enjoyable. Having the event at a castle made it very immersive. Both having NPCs and different roles (Teacher and Student in different years) gave us the ability to have many different interactions and characters in the LARP:

College of Wizardry

I had a great experience at this larp event. It was an amazing location and setting, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of a college of wizardry. The organizers were always ready to help, doing a great job in making the larp experience quite extraordinary, and also kicking all problems in the butt :) If you like larping and magic, GO THERE.

It is the best.

There are no words.
I attended the college of Wizardry: 13 that is The Challenge in May and I can say surely that those were some of the best days of my life❤️❤️.
I am from India and this was a huge leap of faith for me as I had to get to Germany first and then hope that it would be good.
This was also my first larp and I can say for sure that it does not matter. The people are so great and accomodating that it never feels like you don't know what's going on.
Every single thing is explained and you can be sure that you will never be "left out" unless that is the type of character you have😋
For everyone I would like to say that you can trust these guys and go for it!
Thank you guys again for such an awesome experience and I hope to come again someday.❤️❤️

College of Wizardry

College of Wizardry
I participated in the first and second rounds of College of Wizardry, which set the standard for what has later been known as blockbuster larps. It exceeded my expectations with very well prepared participants and a setting you could only dream of. The experience of seeing players wave their wand at an objekt that explodes in the same second, teachers making objects levitate and a convincing baby dragon all contributed to a magic experience. College of Wizardry has through the years build up a strong following of players who keep returning, and for a good reason.

Convention of Thorns

When I signed up for Convention of Thorns, a vampire live action roleplaying game set in a castle in Poland, I was not sure what to expect. The castle looked amazing. The game content I knew, a meeting of vampires in the early nights of the Renaissance to settle various political matters. As a game it was hugely ambitious, so my question was this. Could Dziobak LARP Studious pull it off? The answer to this question was a resounding yes. A yes not only to the game, but to the logistics of managing transport, hotel accommodation, catering, and to providing excellent customer service. If you are looking for a live action roleplaying game of high drama, and fabulous costumes, and of course vampires, in a stunning castle, then Convention of Thorns will tick all those boxes.

At College of Wizardry

At College of Wizardry, you are creating a magical world, in which everybody can participate and create their own story
It gives the player a feeling of creating their own short story in the days at the castle.
At CoW It is possible to play either a student or a teacher, but the personality of the character is for the player to create.
Days are made of fun school lessons, rivalery, awkward young flirting, partying, unity, friendships, magic, mysterious creatures and laughing fits you wont forget.
LARPing at College of wizardry will create an abundance of intense and unique memories in a short time.
You might arrive not knowing anyone, but you will leave with new friends and a larger LARP family.
