Iv had 3 dogs under this insurance Co

Iv had 3 dogs under this insurance Co. Always been quick with a payout. My bulldog was taken seriously ill just before the insurance was due , they said he wasn’t covered under the new year , even though it was two days before the new year started . But after conversations they covered him for a full year. You can talk to this insurance and they will look at things again . Basically really happy with them

This is a terrible company to deal…

This is a terrible company to deal with! I have my pets insured with them, and every single claim requires multiple phone calls and emails in order to chase up the status, and they hardly ever pay out the correct amount owed!

Only use if you are prepared for serious hassle and loss of your free time endlessly chasing them.

Taking money under false pretences

I have had a caravan insurance policy with E&L for over 10 years and have never made a claim. I have now sold the caravan and have cancelled the policy with just over a month left on the 12 month term. However, they won’t refund the last months premium as they say over 9 months of the term has elapsed! What this has to do with anything is beyond me. This is another example of the consumer being fleeced by big business. They have shown no loyalty to me as their customer for the last 10 years. It’s like taking money under false pretences pretences. I wouldn’t recommend E&L to my worst enemy .

If I could give a Zero star I would

If I could give a Zero star I would, this company is shocking , I’ve paid every month for nearly 17 years , my dog has 1 seizure and was told he would no longer be cover if he has another, he recovered well from it but then was discovered he had a brain tumour 6 weeks later and had to be put to sleep, E&l paid £600 and I had to pay £1700, absolute joke if a company. You think paying insurance would stop the big expense but not with this company. Modern day bandits . Protect yourself and your pet do NOT go with E&l.

They will do anything to not pay you back a penny.
We have spent thousands on our dog and they wouldn’t pay us back nothing. They would rather our pet suffer. Stay clear of this company they are horrific

E and L It Appears Will Find Any Excuse Not To Pay A Claim

Please be aware that e and l will do anything to not pay a claim. We have had our 2 dogs insured with them for the best part of 10 years and have just made a claim for our Jack Russel as his eye was bulging out of its socket. It turned out to be an abscess which may have originated from his teeth, the vets were not sure but to drain the abscess a tooth was removed. The bill was £1650 and we thought that our insurance would at least cover part of the fee, but no apparently because teeth and gums were mentioned on the vets report we were refused a payout. People need to be made aware of their practicies. We do have another dog a black labrador who we did make a claim for when he was 8 months old as he ate an xmas cake made by my wife which was left on a worktop. He managed to jump up and eat it. This made him quite poorly so a visit to the vets was made and a claim put to e and l and to be fair they did eventually pay but they did contact us and want to know if a third party had left the cake out and if they had they would try to reclaim the payout back from them. Very strange indeed. We have made some enquiries about e and l and it would appear that some vets wont deal with them because of their reluctance to pay out.

Shop around and use another insurance company, happy to take your money in premiums but the pay out and customer service is the WORST I have ever experienced.
Look after your pet and use another company.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY

If I could give 1/2 a star I would. Have paid thousands over the past 13 and a half years and thankfully never claimed. 6 months ago however, I claimed for treatment for arthritis for my dog. Unfortunately, this claim was towards the end if the policy year and yes, they did cover the cost if one treatment but I was contacted immediately and informed that this illness was excluded on the new years policy. NEVER NEVER use this company.

Don't bother with them

Don't bother with them. Must have paid thousands in premiums over the year. Sadly our dog had to be out to sleep due to cancer to be then told by them that they don't cover death by "illness" for dogs aged over 8. Surely this shou!d be standard stuff - their premiums are high enough.

DO NOT insure with this company

DO NOT insure with this company. Absolutely terrible. Their admin and customer service is really dreadful and their pay outs are VERY LOW. It took three months from my vet submitting my claim to them for E&L finally admitting they received it. I had to keep chasing E&L up and they just mugged me off. It took THREE MONTHS before they finally admitted they had the paperwork !!! My vet was shocked and said they have had problems with E&L in the past.
The overall bill was £1300. We received £200 because of E&L clauses. JUST DON'T INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

After going through a traumatic time with our girl, and having to unfortunately make the heartbreaking decision to have her put to sleep, we placed a claim through for her medical expenses, as we were ASSURED by the insurance company this would be fully taken care of. Received a letter confirmation today with the settlement figure of £82 from a £500 bill......... 16% of the full bill! The whole ordeal was devastating enough but to receive this was an absolute p!ss take! This is NOT why I took out insurance at all, and just shows that there is absolutely no compassion where money is concerned!! needless to say, I have cancelled all policies so I never have to deal with these sh1111t shows again!!

Don't waste your money

After paying more and more in premiums over 15 years and claiming very little, even when my dog had to be treated for kidney failure I still received not a penny back. The excess just kept going up plus they make you liable for 25% of any fees. What a rip off and a total waste of money.

Really slow unhelpful and 'computer…

Really slow unhelpful and 'computer says no' mentality when our dog is in pain and needs a very expensive operation. Really difficult to get them to accept liability and hence will not pay upfront to the vet for an operation. I would recommend you find another insurance company

Very poor cover

Very poor cover not really clear in T&C. My dog is supposed to be covered for one condition up to £1000. However you can never seem to receive this amount. We have just paid for treatment just over £1800. We have £99 excess then they also deduct 35%. I expected that to come from the £1800 then I'd either get the max £1000 or a little less if it came under when deductions were made. This it not how they work. They discard anything over £1000 then deduct £99 excess and the 35% leaving us with only approx £550. What this means is even if the vets fees had been about £5000 they would have just disregarded the extra £4000 and we would have only received the same amount. I really don't know how they get away with it. Their wording is certainly not clear. Also £1000 is a very poor amount of cover which is all they would give as the dog is now 8 but this is our first claim. Took a month to pay out.
