Excellent customer service
Easy to order. Great communication.
Paint arrived very quickly but as it was a heavy 10Lt tin it unfortunately got damaged in transit (these things happen). Contacted customer services who gave me a couple of options to resolve the problem without quibble. I chose to have a like for like tin sent as replacement. The replacement arrived quickly and all in good condition. Now I'm all ready to paint. :)

Clay paint is the best!
I have been a fan of Earthborn since I moved to a heritage home 10 years ago. I love their Clay paint and how easy it is to apply, as well as having no smell. I recently painted my cloakroom in Crocky Road and Can Can, and it is glorious!
Big thumbs up from me

Ever since I found Earthborn I can't…
Ever since I found Earthborn I can't buy any other paint. I've been using them for well over 15 years and love the colours, the (lack of) smell, the ease of using them, the fab painting experience. Thank you for being marvellous.

Above and beyond customer service
Both the paint and the service are excellent. I bought their Silicate Masonry Paint in Suffolk Pink to paint the exterior of my house. The paint quality is superb. And the customer service team went above and beyond to get the paint to me on time after my order was damaged in the delivery process. The team sent a replacement on overnight to ensure I had it in time for the scheduled work. Great company. Highly recommend.

Patchy paint, waste of money
We initially purchased 10 litres of Earthborn clay paint (hobby wood colour) for our living room as we wanted something environmentally friendly and breathable for our old house, and were happy to pay for a 'premium' product. We are not new to painting, and have painted all other rooms in our current and previous houses without issue.
We followed all the instructions as per the Earthborn website and applied the paint to skimmed, clean and fully dried plasterboard. We applied 1 diluted coat (80/20) first, followed by 3 full coats earthborn paint.
Unfortunately, the finish was extremely poor and patchy so we contacted and sent photos to Jon (technical sales advisor at earthborn paint) for advice in January. He advised us to apply more paint, so we used another 10 litres of paint to try and fix the issue. Despite the excessive amount of paint and cost, the walls remained patchy with a very poor finish.
Since then, Earthborn have ignored our requests for help/ replacement paint or refund.
We have sought help from local painters and they have advised to never use Earthborn as 'picture framing/ patchy finish' is a well-known issue, and we were instead recommended Benjamin Moore paint (we used 5L/ 2 coats and managed to fix the issue).
Overall we used 20 litres of Earthborn paint for a small living room (4.5m x 3.5m) and spent (wasted) approximately £350 + replacement paint + a lot of wasted time.
EDIT: in reply- we have already requested a refund via brewers decorators centre. They apologised and said they have had issues with earthborn paint. They told us they contacted you and requested a refund on our behalf, but you refused. They apologised and gave us replacement Benjamin Moore paint as a goodwill gesture. Brewers have been very helpful, but I believe Earthborn should bear responsibility for their faulty product.

Probably the worst paint I've used
Probably the worst paint I've used due to inconsistent product. Bought first in a green colour and the orange "flower pot". These first two tins were fine, applied well, not patchy, all good. All paint was applied on new lime plaster, which had dried for over a month.
I bought a second tin of flower pot to repaint some thinner areas painted with the original tin, new tin is a totally different colour - I know there can be some variation but this is not even close.
Earthborn said they'd had an issue with some tins, so they send some more flower pot - at the time I thought this was really good customer service, but unfortunately the result is still poor and actually just ended up wasting more of my time.
So I repaint the whole room, but new tin doesn't actually dry to an even finish. I know what I'm doing, paint was well mixed, brand new roller used - and this isn't by far the first room I've painted - but never had a paint dry so patchy. Even after repainting the whole room, meticulously, the finish is a patchy mess. Even two roller strokes on the same wall right beside each other dry differently, with a weird chalky finish in places and not in others. Earthborn take zero responsibility for their product, despite me following EXACTLY the instructions on their website, they claim they are not at fault and their product is good. Clearly rubbish, this is the worst paint I've ever used.
So now nicely new lime plastered walls look a total mess, going to have to buy from another company and repaint the whole room again. I think now 4 full days wasted trying to correct this, and delayed renovation by weeks. And still needs redone.
Between my first order and more recent ones - something has changed in the ingredients - they deny it but it's clear - the first tin of this paint in the same colour dried beautifully - so I know it's not the walls or my painting skills!! There's other similar reviews but clearly they don't take feedback even though it's clear there's an issue. Avoid!
Edit to reply to their response: if you read my review in full you'll see I repainted THE ENTIRE ROOM with a single 5L tin - and it still is extremely patchy - like I said in my review, I understand variation between tins - THIS IS NOT THAT. Your product is just poor quality. If one well mixed tin can't even match itself, then it's not fit for purpose. Maybe read people's review in full before replying!
Free paint didn't help me here, it only cost me more time and effort. I've spent about £150 on your paint, about 5-6 days of painting and repainting - and it all needs redone in another brand of breathable paint as your paint is so awful.

Sapling Lifestyle
I recently had my garden room painted with Earthborns lifestyle paint, in Sapling. It’s so beautiful and calming as well as being quite uplifting. It looks great when the sun shines on it as well as when the daylight is fading. So good. And the bonus with Lifestyle, is that if there is a mark on it, it can be dabbed clean with a soft damp cloth.

Really Disappointed
We have an house built around 1900 and wanted a breathable clay paint. We bought Balloon Ride as we loved the colour. The first coat looked patchy so we applied a second thinking it could be us. After three coats on some walls it still looks very patchy with dark areas on it. We’ve run out of paint now and I refuse to buy anymore. We cannot purchase anything else now as we have a carpet being fitted soon. Really disappointed after paying the premium price for it, wish I’d just got Dulux. We have to live with it how it is now until we can afford to repaint it in the future. Wouldn’t recommend.

A story of two halves…
A story of two halves…
Having recently renovated our 350 year old house using traditional lime plaster, we came to decorate and were aware of the requirement to use a breathable paint. Having done our research we chose Earthborn for its use of natural materials, breathable properties and great colours. We chose a number of colours for the first rooms we completed including: Daisy chain; Toy soldier; Cricket and Tuffet. The first 3 colours were lovely to use with great coverage and the light defused beautifully off them, generally they were really easy to use and some of the best paints I have come across. There was some picture framing (obvious difference between brush and rolled) with the Toy Soldier, but is to be expected with a natural paint. This was overcome with a micro roller.
So what’s the issue?
The Tuffet is by far and away the worst point I have ever used!!! It’s thick and gloopy with terrible coverage (required double what we used for the other paints) and the finish was patchy and irregular. Again picture framing was a major issue. Due to the poor coverage we had to buy a second tin which was from a different batch and was the same. This paint needs to be discontinued.
Would I recommend? If I had only used the first 3 then yes, but it would be impossible for me to now.

Love this paint, my first time using it. I admit to be sceptical on the references to only needing one coat, but it proved to be true for us, both painting over a paler and a darker wall, both look great with just one coat. Lovely finish and easy to apply, much less messy than other paints I have tried. Looking forward to selecting a new colour for the next project!

We bought this breathable clay paint…
We bought this breathable clay paint for use behind a wood burning stove on a newly plastered wall. The finish is so lovely no patches we’ll definitely be using it again in other areas. By far the best paint we have ever used. Some walls we used it in only needed one coat.

Lovely coloured paint with big downsides
Lovely coloured paint and looks good when first applied but there are several big buts:
- incredibly difficult to apply without it looking patchy
- very difficult to cut in with due to paint consistency
- it marks ridiculously easily. It's only been on our walls 1 month and already the walls are covered in scratches
It's just not worth the premium price tag when I'll have to repaint every 6 months.

Useless - on traditional lime render
Applied to new traditional lime render, internal
1. uneven application, any tiny invisible scratches in the surface are exploited by the paint leading to bumby surface, if you could not see any defect before you will after this paint.
2. After 6 months fine black mould is appearing, wall is dry but being traditional lime could be breathing water out, lack of biocide allows mould spores to grow quickly.
3. when I went to overcoat using 3/4 of an old tin the paint was useless, the tin had corroded from the inside and the paint was stained with rust.
All in all terrible on traditional hot lime walls, which is specifically what I bought it for.
