Three years ago I bought such a stick. Whhich was excellent. BUT...it had a Sheperd's Crook handle, which means it could be gripped vertically at shoulder height. This allows one to put the stick down ahead of ones feet, which improves stabilitty This design has a short horizontal handle. This means that one has to hold it close to the feet, and in a line. This gives less balance, and induces the charactreristic stoop of the elderly I cannot imagine why the design was changed

Ideal for my mum who has arthritis in her hands and can be unsteady on her feet, this is easy to hold and is strong and sturdy to assist her. The foot of the stuck is nice and wide and helps with the balance, it folds away and she can put it in her handbag when not in use..
