Liked the idea of folding this after use and poping it down the side, but my washing machine sides are not quite wide enough, (free standing under the counter) however it sits nicely on the top of the machine as that gap is larger. So your side gaps need to be over 3 centimeters, as closed up, the basket is wider as it has the sides and the bottom to fold together and needs more room especilly if you also fold down the handles
