Ebay update has ruined both my Samsung tablet and my A7 mobile. I cant nuy anything and ive bid on an item won it but cant pay for it.
My mobile is only 5/6 years old and it keeps rejecting the update.
Ive tried going through via the web site but its so difficult to keep the screen as it just keeps changing then cant get back in.
I manage to get to my account some times but its a nightmare to use but one wrong move and i loose orders and and cant buy anything. Then it keeps asking to sign in which it rejects everytime.
Very disappointed, previous version miles better and alwsys worked without any fuss.
If it aint broke why fix it.

I stopped selling items on eBay along time ago, I have been with eBay for nineteen years now and of late only purchased , but recently had a few things to sell that needed a wider ordinance so decided to advertise on eBay selling site , I had to nominate a bank account to be paid in or if required to be paid out of, the problem I am now experiencing is that they will not let me delete my banking details without adding a replacement account which I do not wish to do as I don’t have another bank account, so I see this has exercising my rights under article 17of the general data protection regulations, I shall be contacting the Information commissioner’s office first thing on Monday morning. Ok I was left with no choice but to cancel my account after 19 years, I can not believe eBay can get away with not allowing you to delete your banking details, especially when there are so many scams are happening and all we keep being told about keeping our banking details to ourselves due to fraudulent use, so it’s good buy eBay from me after all these years, I will not be treated like this by anyone.

I purchased an iPad classic from a Chinese company Xzhelectronics late November 2024 arriving approx 4th December I had this for 2months before noticing I had problems in so much as it crashed and all the music disappeared, I tried to fixing but when I went onto my computer I found that everything including iTunes itself had vanished ,being unable to reinstall it I had to take the computer to my local repair expert to get it reinstalled at a cost of £100 following this I tried to repopulate the iPod only to find it didn't reload everything and wiped the vast majority of my tunes library off the computer.
I contacted the seller and explained the problems I was experiencing asking for a full refund his response was to stall and keep asking me for more information on proof of purchase!!! All this resulted in taking me way past the 2 month return period by which time he refused a refund but not worry as it has a guarantee period ( useless as he fails to tell where to send it or how much more money it will cost to post it to China )
In any case of all of this is irrelevant as I wouldn't either want it repaired or put the thing anywhere near my computer considering the grief it has cost me.
I do not feel ebay has been particularly helpful either in saying that their hands are tied because technically it was past the refund date! Well ebay as far as I am concerned or should carry a duty of care to your customers because at a cost of £160 for something that lasted, essentially less than 2 months you should be threatening to stop them trading on eBay
I'm currently in Spain and will be until the 2nd of April.

Having been an eBay member for many years and with a 100% positive feedback profile I find the new changes somewhat bewildering.

Firstly the buyer protection fee, only applicable to the UK is a con. Why only the UK and not platform wide? This inflates the cost of items and means quite often ou are better making the purchase from Amazon and getting a better price with swifter delivery.

Having sold a number of items via ebay ranging from a few hundred pounds to several thousand I now find eBay holding my money for longer.

A recent sale for £120 saw the buyer pay and collect the same day, the collection code was entered and all good, eBay states funds will be released within 24 hours, that's a complete lie.

Having spoken with them a week after th sale and funds not being released was passed from pillar to post with no resolve. My funds will be released in 14 days I was advised.

Told eBay that I shall no longer shop or sell on their platform until the buyer protection fees are removed and sellers funds are released much quicker.

Whilst I may be one small individual and my decisions will in no way impact eBay, I feel better for having made those decisions.

EBay needs to remember that it s people like me who make them profit and not the other way around.

Yeah but the sellers Price is inflated by the Buyer Protection Fee
Sellers Purchasing Postage already pay for loss cover to reimburse a customer . In its current form is an inaccurate and incorrect term which should be termed Ebay Buyer Tariff Your not giving something that buyers do not already have when you the seller purchase cover in your postage

Tax avoidance

Changing the model from seller to buyer makes life easy for ebay to avoid paying UK tax

Those tracked items often do not update effectively and are subject to carrier delays Eg EVRI and updates extending payment delays and starving sellers from maintaining stock on their inventor I woonder why.....................................................

Stupidity

Why would a Sell list an item fairly Eg £9.97 with minimal margins for ebay only to inflate it to £10.97 where it can be compared on Amazon £1 Cheaper driving traffic off your listings

Ebay intentionally throttle feedback drivers on private sellers to keep their head under water Eg Their is no necessity to retain funding esp were positive feedback from Buyers has been Given and confirmed receipt on good items have been fulfilled quickly within the RM 2 Deadline

The ebay App was decommsioned in FEB with no heads up despite ebay being aware of implemented change well in advance . 50 - 80% purchases are made from a smart phone which given the requirement for all customers to upgrade to an Android 10 phone is pie in the sky and another means of throttling change. The reality is they failed to design an Android 10 platform compliant to their own server side changesNothing to do with the old mantra upgrade your browser , upgrade your system etc . Its an Ebay Issue

Monopolizing

T&C restrict sellers advising buyers that they can buy the item cheaper on the sellers dedicated website . Ebay is over complicated its platform with metrics so that they can squeeze every ounze of blood from sellers ironically the reason why a more simple and transpparent platform like Vinted will suceed

Customer Service

Becoming US centralized . US Ops totally unfamiliar with UK Postal Selling. The same service also applies to Buyers with Agents limitted or restricted by Group Think , AI , Algorythms or shear stupidity

Would You Trust an Idiot To Manage Your Business ????

I opened an account as I wanted to sell some old coins I have. I tried to put them up for sale but kept on getting a message that the postal part wasn't completed I tried several times to fix this but the same message came up so I gave in. I have now received an email saying that my account has been suspended permanently. It said that they are worried about fraudulent activity !
I'm 64 years old I do not have a criminal record in fact I haven't even had a point on my driving licence the only bad thing I could tell you is I parked in a residential parking zone when attending a football match and paid a fine. I am disgusted and disappointed that these people can get away with making assumptions about people without any evidence at all. Shame on you ebay

Have nit received my refund on goods I posted back to them . Have sent. Emails but to no avail. Very disappointed with their customer service. Very reluctant to order from Ebay again.

You have allegedly introduced a new "buyer protection policy". When I asked yourselves about this I was told that it offers a buyer 24/7 communication with eBay, whereas before this was only aailable for a limited time.
I have a problem with two items which I have purchased. The seller is being extremely rude.
I tried to contact ebay, to speak to somebody, this through your online "contact us" facility.
After 9 minutes of asking if I could speak to somebody your "automated assistant" kept asking me questions which were irrelevant. I kept tellin it this, then it would ask one of the same questions again.
It took 9 minutes to get to speak to somebody, followed by 17 minutes on the call itself.
26 minutes of my valuable time on a Sunday on the phone to eBay, regarding a rude seller and a purchase which I wanted to cancel.
This "buyer protection policy" obiously isn't woring, and we are haing to pay for this into the bargain.
UNACCEPTABLE.
I wonder if I will get a response. Ask eBay on X (Twitter) weren't of any help either

Totally wrecked what was already a platform that simply is run by folk who have no clue. Now you list an item and ebay adds a buyers tax which they call protection (Lol). The prices on listings now look ridiculous and everything cost more than listed for. They only have just over 1 star on Trustpilot and I think this will drop for sure. Simply put the board of directors are not fit for purpose and don't have a clue about customer experience. No wonder the competition has been able to muscle in with ease.

I was recently told to reset my password I asked why and the reason given did not apply to me .
I asked if eBay was hacked and never got a actual answer to the question. I have since read they were in fact hacked which is why they are asking people to change their password.
Just be honest with your customers it might not affect everyone on eBay but not answering a straight forward question doesn't help.

My payments been put on hold without any explanation I've been with them 8 years it's disgusting can't email them directly to complain no point in speaking to customer service as they don't pas on complaints also got the reason they are charging buyers protection is because buyers can get a phoneline 24 hours a day not to actually refund customer out of own pocket so buyers haven't really got any protection so it's not like a insurance policy for lost or damaged stuff it's just for people to all them access to 24 hour phones.there behavior is getting worse by the day.maybr trust pilot should show them the reviews.as they don't reply to any of them to justify there complaints

Don't bother with ebay .I have had account in the past. Tried to open new account they have suspended it with no explanation at all .no help from customer services. I have impeccable credit history. Not good .

EBay protection fees reduced my profit margin and made my items look more expensive for buyers , when same items cost same or less on Amazon and Ither platform without any hidden charges

I've had a great relationship with eBayUK as a seller up until now. Recently they did 2 things that really pissed me off: 1. They are now holding funds for 2 weeks if orders are not sent tracked. The problem with this is that I send a lot of low-value items out like CDs, books and DVDs which do not warrant tracking. In fact, if I were to track them, I'd be losing money. 2. Ebay have imposed fees on each item that a seller lists to sell. This has bumped up the cost of each item I'm selling and consequently sales have dropped off considerably. Ebay needs to return to its former self otherwise it's gonna lose a lot of sellers (and buyers) to its rivals.

After using Ebay over 20years with a 100% customer feedback i have closed my account. This is due to the recent Android app upgrade that now renders my mobile phone app useless.If Ebay thinks I am changing my mobile to use their business they have another think coming.

I have the same view as others on eBay.

The new seller payment system is awful.
They are copying the similar style of how vinted work but you are paying the postage still (if you do free shipping)

You can no longer combined shipping either as if you do it might not state as delivered with other items someone has purchased if they have purchased items separately as you are unable to add the same tracking details to another order even though its the same delivery address. So you are paying more postage than what's needed

I found eBay so easy before they changed all the rules but now Im thinking of no longer selling due to the whole payments system and not receiving payments until items have been delivered. This could take weeks as I use there international shipping also.
So you are basically out of pocket until the items are delivered.
And sometimes the tracking doesn't always update it's been delivered on eBay even though when you go on the tracking site it states it is. If the item doesnt show delivered as there is an error it says it can take a good few weeks before the funds clear!!!!!

It's all a joke. Honestly why they have changed it I have no idea. There old system was great.

I don't think it will change unless enough people complain.

I’m truly disappointed with eBay’s payment process. A sale I made on the 6th is still showing as not dispatched, even though the item has been delivered. It seems eBay does not check delivery status, and I have yet to receive my funds. In previous sales, the money appeared in my eBay balance without issues, but now there’s a long delay. This makes me question whether it’s worth continuing to sell on eBay. The platform needs to improve its payment processing system—if eBay does not sort out this payout situation, they will lose their customers, and eBay will be no more.

Their new policies are simply a scam! Buyers always got refunded anyways, even when they were clearly scammers with ghost accounts and 2 reviews so this is NOT about buyer protection.
Sellers don't receive a payout anymore until weeks after packages are delivered. Buyers were ambushed with a huge fee and sellers like me are forced to lower prices to the point of taking a loss. No point in selling on ebay anymore. I hope the purpose of this scam was to crash their platform because this is what is going to happen. I just started by cancelling my membership since they don't offer any tools anymore so I don't see the point. I will also start moving my listings on other platforms that value their users.
