Poor online customer service

Since the EB Games stores were closing down, I emailed customer service to get a refund on two gift vouchers I had. Was emailed back that stores were still open and that I can still use my cards. That wasn’t what I had been asking and I felt completely ignored along with my request. Sent another email when the stores did close and was told to go to a link to submit a request when there had been no link previously when I’d looked on their website. I feel like I’m running around in circles, there’s been no help from customer service and they haven’t listened or provided much help at all. Very poor service.

Last time at EB games Riccarton

EB games riccarton. Poor customer service, profiling customers, CSR switched stations refusing to provide service, that’s without me even speaking one word, rude, was extremely unprofessional. I have been with EB games for over 10 years, Staff used to be good but now it seems the staff are very easily panicked, overwhelmed by a small number of customers in a queue. In general just weak. The job ain’t that hard, in fact it’s super easy. If you can’t handle being a CSR in one of the least busy retail stores please go find something else to do.

Expensive with non existent online support

I have been a supporter for many years, but it has become impossible to justify using ebgames over literally anywhere else. Prices are more than everywhere else but they claim they will match any price - why not just price competitively? If I have to come in and prove the price is cheaper elsewhere - I'll just go elsewhere to begin with. Also, 2 seperate tickets raised about a PS3 i purchased 3 months ago have gone unanswered, the hdd was smaller than advertised, controller battery was basically dead and there was dust caked in the fans - but dont worry, they are carefully refurbished as stated on their website. Stores have significantly cut down their gaming areas so unless you want a board game or collectable just dont bother, even then, you will likely find it cheaper somewhere else anyway.

Item not delivered

I ordered a PS4 console + game, received an email confirming that both had been shipped but only received the game. Received a reply stating that 'customer service' would respond within 7 - 10 days. Have little confidence that the console will be delivered !

I always found EB games to be the more expensive of the gaming shops but at least it was reliable, I outright refuse to pay a yearly subscription for the right to purchase products from a retail shop, and I imagine this boarders on breaking laws, regardless of the deal I will never purchase from this brand again

The most useless customer service I…

The most useless customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. I payed for a copy of the Playstation 5 game Astro Bot (Home Delivery) spending $135. Instead I get 11 packs of the pokemon trading cards games booster packs, when I call the store they asked gave me the help line number which I have called three times over the past two days only to be given a less than 10 minute hold time only for it to never go through and when sending a enquiry through there website I get no response.

Absolutely shocking company

Absolutely shocking company, purchased through black friday sales, Paid $20 shipping.. i thought ok fine, theres a couple of plushies in there.. Then get refunded for everything APART from a small drink bottle and a pair of socks.. and STILL get charged $20 shipping. ZERO replies to emails, or fb messages. buy elsewhere.

Manager is Rude

Service was good, However Manager at the New Plymouth store can be very rude to her staff. Telling someone they cannot check out customers if they arent clocked in (which i fully understand) but then getting mad at them for not serving customers when they arent clocked in? Make up your mind! But other than that the customer service was amazing.

My wife and son bought a PS5 controller…

My wife and son bought a PS5 controller for his PS4 at EB Games New Plymouth. The shop assistant didn't know if they were compatible, however assured them that they could return the controller if incompatible. Next day another shop assistant refused to accept the return.

ordered games online

ordered games online, one was missing , have emailed them two times no response , finally got a response after posting this , took over a month to get it sorted , they ended up sending a game not the exact one i ordered but gave me the option for refund , just wish it didn't take me writing this to get it sorted

Bad online order

On 7/7/2024, I purchased a $58 game and a $28 mouse pad online for my son to use during the school holidays. When the box arrived, the game was missing, but I was charged for it. I made a complaint online the same day. On 11/7/2024, I went to the store to sort out the problem. The store staff helped us and assured us that the game would be sent asap. After another 5 days of waiting, the game still hadn't arrived. I called the store again, and they admitted they had forgotten to post it. They said they would try to post the game today. This is unbelievable. It has ruined my son’s school holiday, and we received no apologies from EB Games at all. Now, half of the school holidays have passed, and we still haven't received the game. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Disappointing Experience with EB Games

Disappointing Experience with EB Games: Poor Quality and Customer Service

I recently purchased a refurbished/preowned console from EB Games, hoping to save some money while still enjoying quality gaming. However, my experience quickly turned sour. Upon setting up the console at home, I discovered that the controller had stick drift, rendering it nearly unusable.

Returning to the store, I was informed that they didn't have a replacement controller available. After weeks of waiting, I received a call about a replacement, only to find out that the RB bumper on the new controller didn't work. Another trip to the store, and I was told I'd have to bring the faulty controller in myself for an exchange.

Despite multiple visits and calls, EB Games couldn't provide a functional replacement. Their after-sales support was abysmal, leaving me frustrated and out of pocket due to wasted gas and time.

To add insult to injury, they couldn't guarantee a replacement within my warranty period, essentially washing their hands of any responsibility once the sale was made.

I strongly advise against purchasing from EB Games if you value quality products and reliable customer service. While the staff may be friendly, their inability to address issues post-purchase makes them a company to avoid.

Eb Games Napier were fantastic in sourcing a PS4 for a person with disabilities that I support.
Jaz Corliss was helpful and professional. The transition was completed in a timely manner and warranty information explained.

Dishonest staff at their Bayfair…

Dishonest staff at their Bayfair branch. Purchased a pre-owned game for my son. Was told I would get my money back within 2 weeks if I bought my receipt back. Bought it back but was told I also needed a second bit of paper with a barcode on it for a full refund. They'll be gone in a few years. No business lasts with continuous bad customer experiences.

Faulty Refurbished PS4 Pro

Bought a refurbished PS4 Pro 1TB as a gift for a friend. Get to the intro cutscene in Elden Ring. PS4 sounds like a jet engine, beeps three times, shuts down.

I got past the cut scene, then thought it was a once off thing, but it happens every time after playing for a few minutes. I figured maybe it was just the game, so I tried with different games, and the exact same thing happens consistently.

The controller also came with stick drift.

What a hunk of trash, I genuinely can't recommend buying any of their pre-owned consoles.

After reading some other reviews and hearing of similar experiences, I also don't expect to get a refund. If I could rate it less than one star I would.

me and my family were in EB games invercargill when I was looking for a game the person working around 5:00 pm knew i was looking was on the phone and when my dad went to get Call Of Duty WW2 he denied just because I put it on the counter was not evan my money and because i placed it on they said no evan though my dad was paying I would give it 1/3 of a star but I cant
