I'm a new prepay customer

I'm a new prepay customer.
No cards, despite two requests.
Second tine of topping up, money left my bank, no credit to my meter.
After two lengthy waits, two long phone calls, two proof of purchase emails - still no credit.
My family and I are now freezing, have no lighting and cannot cook or even make a hot drink.
Pcs not working, so no home school/ office work being done.
All in all, a rubbish experience.
I am already looking to switch companies.

extreme price hike

I think the previous poster doesn't understand but there is now a minimum charge of £52 for Electricity and £104 for gas. So my bill would be ten times higher . You should be ashamed all all the fight poverty hype on your website , you are now targetting lowest users with the biggest hike allegedly according to the Customer service drone that parroted you that you had to agree it with OFGEN

I like ebico, but I'm rapidly liking them less

I like ebico, but since taking on their own customer service a few years ago (previously this was managed by SSE), they haven't been very good.

Ebico seems to have found the slowest private courier in the UK by which to send its letters with the result that I'm lucky if I receive its meter reading requests by the day the readings are required. Today I received a letter that was allegedly sent 9 days ago: make of that what you will.

The letter I recieved today shows my current no standing charge contract is coming to an end and suggests I will then switch to its cheapest tariff, Ebico Standard, on the 28th of this month (just over a month from when the letter was allegedly sent, but 24 days from my receipt of that letter).

The letter explains that there are other cheaper tariffs than the firm's cheapest variable price tariff, but they only provide details for the cheapest variable tariff, which isn't the cheapest. They then supply a personal projection for my annual cost based on my actual historical usage, but when I calculate the cost based on the tariff information, I get a different figure from that which ebico supplies. It makes as much sense to me as Boris Johnson's electoral sales pitch to be frank.

More annoyingly, the default position is that ebico will be putting me on a tariff that is about £60 a year more than my current tariff, yet on its website, the 'Ebico Zero Green v4 energy plan' (I don't know why it's called 'Green' either) is far better value for me. Confusingly, although the letter states that I will be switched to the standard tariff, it contains Ts and Cs for the 'v4' tariff (which is not the default position) without giving me the tariff information for the 'v4' tariff.

Actually when I opened the envelope, the pages seemed to be in a random order as if the person posting my letter was working under the pressure of a gangmaster with a whip and doing shoddy work.

I phoned the company. At least it's a freephone number. Then I had to use the one phone I have that sends tones to navigate the callcentre automated menu and then walk back and forth between that phone and my warm living room to be put on hold listening to painfully unpleasant hold music until I decided I couldn't be bothered any more.

I have contacted Green Energy UK, Ecotricity, and Good Energy to see what they offer. Their tariffs would not cost that much more than the cheapest tariff ebico seems to want me to use ('cheapest' being redefined to mean the one that isn't the cheapest).

That said, I suppose if you don't have a job or work to do and have the time to sit on hold, ebico is quite affordable for low users, once you get on the best tariff.

Minimum annual charges now

Very disappointing that on 'Zero Green Fixed v4' which is now Ebico's only tariff with no standing charge, they have introduced a minimum annual charge of £104 for gas!

They used to boast that they were a zero standing charge company, but then brought in massive charges almost across the board.

In my view, a minimum charge is equivalent to a standing charge by stealth.

Standing charges are a rip-off which hits most badly those who can least afford it.

This is such a shame, because I used to rate Ebico very highly.

Very good, but I've left them.

Very good, but I just left them. I left because my fixed deal finished. My switches to and from them went very well. I liked their website. There is no app but I found that a good thing because their very clear website made a phone app totally unnecessary. I do find that utility company phone apps can be tedious and problematic because they are on a small screen and so are, thus, much more prone to erroneous input or reading. Hence, the absence of the phone app actually made it a far better experience for me - because there's no struggle to instead input and read on their website. I don't know about you but when there is a phone app on offer with a company then I try to use that on my phone and then encounter the small screen issue.

Anyway, I'd have stayed with Ebico if their renewal quote had been reasonable. But alas it wasn't so I left. And guess what - I left to one that has a phone app and I've made an error on my second meter reading on their app. Hence, why I said that Ebico not having a phone app makes things easier! I'll now be very careful on my new supplier's phone app or else I will uninstall it.

Anyway, I still think Ebico deserves a great review for my time with them. And I'll definitely consider going with them again. That can't be said for three other suppliers that I've used before. Those three I'll never use again. One still exists with its original name - and they were very slow to refund me what they owed me . One has since changed its name or been taken over - but I'll still avoid them because of their long time consuming errors. One has gone bust owing me money that it took be ages to get back. I have a great memory when it comes to good and poor service. I don'tt mind it when genuine errors are rectified quickly - but when they are compounded...

Worse than BT which must be the insult…

Worse than BT which must be the insult of the year. Staff seem incompetent of reading more than first sentence of complaint.
82 emails to them complaining of wrong starting and finishing readings on both electricity and gas on 3 properties. After over a year Erico asked me to email previous and current supplier as they had lost readings. Unbelievable !!! Some very pleasant staff but they clearly set themselves very low standards and fail to meet them

Prompt refund.

My parents just left Ebico due to better tariff with competitor, however refund of credit in our bank just over a week later. Very prompt service and what should be routine. Compare this with TOGETHER ENERGY (see their Trust Pilot reviews), you're very lucky if you get it and likely to be only after taking them to the Ombudsman.
Warning - stay away from TOGETHER ENERGY.

very difficult to leave, even though I am in credit. Appauling website, difficulties paying and could not access my electricity account for nearly a year. Very bad experience and now had to complain to ombudsman as they have blocked and cancelled my switch?
My advice is to keep well clear

I'M WORRIED..........!!!?

I get my gas from Ebico in partnership with Robin Hood Energy. According to an article in the Guardian 1st October and also on the Ofgem website R.H.E need to pay Ofgem £9.5 Million by 31st October or they might have their licence removed. Being that they,R.H.E failed to run at a profit except when the Nottingham council bailed them out with a £5 Million pound loan the possibility exists they may soon be forced into administration.

Payment problems

I took over an account from a previous tenant. I simply won't stay with them as they make paying them so difficult. You can't pay online unless you first register and even when I phone to pay with debit card they don't even answer the phone!

As I have just moved I had to say…

Well Done Ebico
As I have just moved I had to say goodbye and big thank you to Ebico Energy Suppliers who have been the best energy company that I have ever used.

They have a clear and easy to use site, their customer services is great and the pricing is great for people like me who do not use much power.

When I was persuaded to change to NPower because they claimed that they were the cheapest my bills became astronomical. NPower standing charges were so high.

After my meter started to malfunction and sped up NPower refused to do anything.
It took ages to get them to take action to replace my faulty meter and agree to pay back all the money they charged me.
That was only because I had to get my money back by complaining to OFGEN.

Back with Ebico my energy cost dropped by almost half.

You probably won't find Ebico on any of the price comparison companies because they are so small. However Ebico were providers of my Gas and Elictricty for many years and they were great.

Well done Ebico

Ebico are a definite 5 star company

I moved to Ebico as they did not have a standing charge. Best move I ever made, I have never had a utility company that offers such a great service. All meter reading requests are in advance, with a confirmation email to check. All communication is swift and efficient. I can not fault them in any way and would recommend them to anyone looking for a fantastic utility supplier.

Ebico: Fighting Fuel Poverty ...... My Backside!

None of my reviews are "useful"! 👎 So, here's another useless review!

Ebico: Fighting fuel poverty ...... my backside! Creating it, more like!

Whacked up my Direct Debit substantially, even though my energy usage didn't change! Almost 21p per KWh for electricity! I've switched to another supplier at around 13p!

The main reason I'm "ditching and switching" is that a jumped-up little twerp on the phone REFUSED to cancel my gas account at my request. He said because I'm a Housing Association tenant, I can't cancel my gas account! Err, who pays the bill? Those clowns, Adactus, or myself?

Additionally, I didn't ever receive the Warm Home Discount, because all Ebico were interested in was screwing as much money from me a possible! The twerp on the phone said the discount is provided by the DWP. That's funny, I thought it was the supplier who managed the scheme?

In any case, I've found myself a better, cheaper supplier with Warm Home Discount! So that will teach Ebico not to p*** me off!

There, was that "useful"? No? Oh, well .......

I Honestly can say that I have always…

I Honestly can say that I have always had great customer service from Ebico.

No mistakes with my bill as I always read and submit my meter readings every month.

I joined Ebico specifically because of the zero standing charge as a low user, even after the price increase, still works out much cheaper than the big Boys.

Carry on the good work.
