My Echidna off road bag arrived in the flashest of flashes. It looks incredibly well made and the service around the delivery was exceptional. Haven’t had a chance to install and use yet as my new Sprinter adventure van is a little ways off delivery, but can’t wait. Looks just the thing!

The first surprise was the size — it’s deceptively big, in the best possible way. You look at it and think “rubbish bag,” but it’s clearly capable of hauling far more than scraps and wrappers. The material is strong, the structure feels durable, and everything about it suggests long-term use, not a single-season accessory.

The zips are tough, the seams and stitching are reinforced, and the whole bag feels like it’s been designed by someone who actually uses their gear. It has side pockets, a zip-up pocket on the lid flap, and even a heavy-duty mesh inner bag that adds another layer of practicality. The locking system is simple but secure, and the metal clasps that attach it to the spare wheel are outstanding — solid, reliable, and far stronger than I expected.

A thoughtful touch: there’s a drainage hole in the bottom, so if you’re carrying wet gear or need to wash it out, it won’t hold water. It’s clearly built for real-world use, not just for show.

Overall, the Echidna spare wheel bag looks fantastic, feels over-engineered in the best way, and delivers far more than I anticipated. It’s not just a rubbish bag — it’s a genuinely useful, rugged storage solution that will earn its place on the back of the van.

I did a lot of research before I decided on the Echidna; it's NOT the most expensive bag out there by far, but I'm willing to bet that it's the best.
