Beware the (hidden) renewal costs they don't tell you about, to keep these radios working!!!
What this company are offering sounds great...pay quite a lot up front, and get 'walkie-talkie' like radios that don't need to be close to each other to work. The radios don't use traditional 'line of sight' radio communication between each other to communicate. Instead, the radios connect to the strongest mobile phone network they are near. Sounds good doesn't it?
And they claim on their website and in their adverts, "NO monthly subscriptions" along with, "NO contracts." So they lead you to believe that you don't need to pay anymore money.
However, this is nothing more than DECEPTION! (Fraud). Because, I am very sad to say that I recently found out, after my first year of use ended, that you MUST pay more money for EACH radio, in order to keep them connected! So, what they SHOULD tell you, is the fact there IS a subscription to pay. It's a YEARLY subscription, not a monthly one.
If you don't pay them this money every year, after your first year has ended, you've basically purchased very expensive little black bricks with a strap!
This deceptive company don't tell you there is a yearly subscription to pay, and they don't ask you to sign any contracts, so they claim there are no contracts. They also advertise that they give a 100% guarantee to refund you if you're not satisfied, but ONLY WITHIN 45 DAYS! (And they don't tell you that you need to pay more money at the end of the year within this first 45 day period. They leave that until 11 months have gone by. Too late for refunds!)
I purchased a pack of 4 radios for myself, my wife and my 2 children. They were NOT cheap! Now, I am having to pay another $20 per radio to keep them connected together. I know it's not a massive amount of money to pay. But we only occasionally use them. It's the deception that annoys me most. When you've been lied to, and only find out the truth when it's too late to send items back for a refund, it's very frustrating.
That is why I wanted to leave this review on here today. So any potential customer has all the facts, and can then make up their own minds to purchase or not. Knowing they will need to keep paying a yearly subscription for each radio for as long as they use them.
Oh, I need to add that I am not in the USA. I live in the UK and I have noticed that these radios do NOT always have a connection. I work as a truck driver and have noticed that in some places I am driving through, the radios have gone out of signal. This must mean they were not able to connect to ANY of the mobile phone carrier networks they use for signal. This is not good peace of mind when this happens so close to a town that must have good mobile phone network coverage. Some of the UK carriers claim they cover 99% of the whole of the UK, so what is happening here? (Just in case you were thinking it was a '1 off' case...the radio signal always disappears at the same places, every time I drive through that area!)
Another thing I would like to point out is their website advertises they have had 208 reviews to date with a rating of 4.8 out of 5. Erm, where did those reviews come from? (Personally, I think they've been made up. Given what I know about how this company operate).
