Terrible project management and customer service. Faulty installation and appalling financial exit package.

This review is not exhaustive - there is much more to this saga....Ecologicliving were consulted at our design stage for home extension and modernisation. We needed them to understand what products were available and dimensions from them for our planning application. Their designs and plans were generic rather than specific to our needs but they did provide brochures which allowed us to gleam sizes etc.
We showed them architect plans which they approved prior to building planning application. We were encourage to order a pellet boiler before we needed it within the build in order to receive a delivery discount incentive which has never since been documented on an invoice.
It was understood that the build would take place in two phases and components from them would be staggered - an arrangement they are now disputing. During the build their communications became vague and we often had to chase them for information and specifications. These specifications changed repeatedly and impacted our build design. At one stage we even had to contact them to check they were still in business...as we had paid them approx. 75% of the total costs of Solar Thermal, Under Floor Heating, Biomass Boiler and installation of these.
During this time we established that they had failed to register us for the Renewable Energy Assurance scheme (REA) as promised.
The only work actually undertaken by them was the Solar Thermal panel installation. A week before we checked the dimensions with them so we could source roofing slate to make good. The dimensions they provided would not then fit on the roof despite the roof dimensions being previously supplied in architect drawings. They then attempted to charge us for replacement panels. Eventually a different flashing kit was obtained which meant the panels could be mounted differently.
The build ceased due to illness for a time. During this time it became apparent that the solar panel installation had allowed water ingress into the roof space causing mottling/moulding and sagging ceilings. We contacted them regarding the condensation, dripping and daylight we could now see (once the ceilings were removed) from and through the panels. They seemed reluctant to accept there was an issue. Eventually a sales man who happened to be in the area visited, took photographs and commented, "that's not good, I can see the sky". This was September 2014. Still a month later we were having to press for action despite their attempts at explaining the condensation away. Their roofer assessed the panel installation as poor, needing complete removal, refitting with a breathable membrane (which had been absent), completely new flashing kit that was appropriate to the panels to be fitted and acknowledged that it was lifting slates on our new roof. Two weeks following no contact from them, we contacted the CEO to say we would give him one last chance, despite our desire to terminate our contract (due also to a catalogue of events and poor service not noted in this review), if they would rectify asap and contact us at least monthly to ensure their communications would improve. We heard nothing for three months (totalling 7 months from notification of a leaking roof) at which point we contacted them to officially request negotiations start to settle an exit package and removal of the panels.
Yet again their communication became laboured so we entered a complaint the trade organisation RECC. Additionally during this time our most recent letter requesting a seven working day response took them six weeks (and at least 14 chasing communications from us) to answer with a derisory offer and no breakdown and no invoice since the boiler discount was supposedly administered (despite numerous requests).
If anything they do makes us change our low opinion of their professionalism and customer service we will gladly update this accordingly.

Since this review we have initiated Mediation with the RECC and following this we initiated Independent Arbitration with IDRS - it should be noted that we, the customer felt we had to initiate these processes, not EcoLogicLiving as they claim.

One of the reasons EcoLogicLiving has been so successful over the last 8 years is that we have made customer service one of the key values of our business. We have had thousands of successful installs, from domestic jobs, like this one, to complex, large scale industrial projects.

Falling short of expectations, whether the job is small or large, is incredibly disappointing for us and something we take very seriously. In this particular situation, we have agreed to arbitration and feel at this point it is inappropriate to respond to the details of this review.

We have, and will continue to have, the utmost respect for all of our customers. Throughout this difficult situation we have complied, transparently and in a timely manner, with all the deadlines and requests set out in this negotiation and are optimistic that the situation will reach a satisfactory conclusion.
