Disgraceful behaviour
After recently becoming a new tenant of a property supplied by EDF I did not wish to continue with this supplier and wanted to continue with octopus however EDF blocked this and said there was an outstanding amount, I emailed to them I was paying the last months bill and then I wanted to switch, I then paid by bank transfer they still didnt allow me to switch, I emailed and explained and got a reply saying they needed my details to make an account I said no I dont want an account with you then today I have a man at my door telling me that its EDF meter and they will put it on a prepayment meter if bills unpaid I again told this man I have paid what I owe and if they do a prepayment I will go without electric and I mean it I will, I have been left full of anxiety I am recovering from a mental health breakdown and needed to take extra medication today to try to help me with the worry this company is putting me through
I’ve had an incredibly frustrating…
I’ve had an incredibly frustrating experience with EDF Energy Business. What should have been a simple process of moving our business address turned into a two-month ordeal.
It’s impossible to actually speak to anyone from the Business Move Team — they don’t take phone calls, and all communication has to go through emails or web forms that take ages to get a response. Each time I managed to get an update, I was either passed between departments or told that someone would “get back to me,” which never happened on time.
For a company of EDF’s size, it’s shocking how inefficient and inaccessible their business support is. Moving premises is already stressful enough without having to chase an energy provider for weeks on end to do something so basic.
If you value your time and want straightforward communication, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your business energy needs.
Obnoxious and malicious engineer
We had an engineer called Richard (Poole area) visit to look at a problem with our gas meter. From the moment I opened the door I found him obnoxious and rude. He told me he needed to come in to look at my electricity meter (the gas meter is outside and he had already looked at it).
I let him in and he proceeded to tell me in a very rude manner that the issue with the gas meter is not their remit. I asked him why he wanted to look at the electricity meter. He said to see why you can't have a smart meter (we have had several engineers look at it and confirm it cannot be fitted due to the location of the meter). I told him to leave as I was alone at home with my daughters and he made me feel very nervous due to his manner.
He did not like being asked to leave and told me he was turning our gas off. I said you can't do that, there's nothing wrong with it and I need it to feed my children. He said yes I can it's the law. I again told him to get out of my property. A little while later two lovely engineers from the gas board turned up. They turned the gas off as requested by the EDF engineer and waited almost an hour for me to return home so they could turn it back on as they said it didn't need to be turned off but that they were required to check the boiler first.
They could not understand why the EDF engineer had incorrectly reported a leak to them. They confirmed there was no leak, it was all safe and turned it back on. I told them that I believed it was a malicious act on his behalf because he didn't like being told to leave my property.
I don't believe he should be employed in a customer facing role, especially one which enables him to access the homes of lone females and vulnerable people.
Minus five stars (if possible) DO NOT USE EDF
Minus five stars (if possible). DO NO USE EDF stick with Scottish Power, Eon or Octopus,
The worst Electricty supply company I have dealt with for years and I have accounts with all the big suppliers.
Shockingly unhelpful customer service who just want to read a script or sell you something more. Once your signed up thats it.... they take your money but give you no help.
It took almost 12 months to install smart meters - even after The Ombudsman fined them and told them to do so!
They will not offer an export rate for the solar panels we had installed. Even though thier advertising is full of "get a smart meter" and "We are the green energy company"; all sales and marketing waffle.
No reply no help no service uterly useless. I cant wait to get out of contract with you.
Avoid the hassel go with a company with real customer service that want to help you.
Oh, and several weeks after this review - they even be bothered to say "sorry"
Stay away from this company
Stay away from this company, they send me bills wrongly for 1 year, hiding fees during all that time; then they email me a £2,670 bill to be paid in 14 days… they are not serious.

Booked smart meter fitting without consultation. Saying we'll be charged £30 if don't notify them on a phone number. We will not be there but why should we have to call them and spend time sorting?
Very helpful and fast help given !
My meter suddenly stopped working and had a call help message flashing . Called edf at 9.30am , spoke to a lovely lady who was incredibly helpful and she arranged for an emergency engineer . I anticipated a long wait however , the engineer had been to my home and fixed the problem all before 10.30am the same morning !
Inconsiderate Supplier
I was given a fixed amount for my direct debit when I joined to supply my home which I never defaulted for once for 2 years, but they keep increasing the bill almost all the time but I kept paying. I changed to another supplier when they planned to increase it again. I called to pay outstanding bill in instalment and there was an agreement with direct debit set up. I was surprised to see that they've reported that I defaulted with CRA when they had not even started the direct debit. They spoilt my credit score that I've built for the past five years. They're inhuman, selfish and inconsiderate.
Open a ticket for a year. No resolution.
Had a ticket with them to come out and fix my smart meter. One year later they've still not done it. Moved to a different supplier now because what's the point. Not like they're the cheapest on the market either.
Absolutely appalling customer service
Absolutely appalling customer service. Spent a year lying to me about a non functioning smart meter and trying to charge me estimated bills at 3000% of actual consumption . I am currently waiting for customer services to answer the phone to arrange a direct debit . 47 minutes so far . Apparently my call is important and the call will be answered shortly . Incompetent beyond belief .

SCAMMERS
I’ve been a loyal EDF customer for 2 years. They have been calling me non stop harassing me for months beginning me to install a smart meter, I finally got sick of their harassment and caved in and let them install a smart meter. The same week they told me I owe them over £300 in unpaid charges. I researched how much I paid per kwh and found that Octopus energy is more than 15% cheaper so I switched. I told the company I wish to file a complaint in which they ignored my request 3 times. They said we can dispute this matter with the energy ombudsman, then the next week they started sending threating emails saying they were going to take me to court if I don’t pay instantly. They said they will send me a form and escalate my dispute, they said they will log my complaint and send me a letter about it but they are pathological liars. Just look at their reviews online and see how many people they’ve scammed like this. Check octopus energy reviews theyre so much cheaper and better EDF are filthy scammers who will charge yoy too much money snd harass you to install a meter so they can scam you for more money. Switch now!
Horrendous experience from start to…
Horrendous experience from start to finish. Never use this company!
Shoddy Customer Service…
Thinking to upgrade my existing Solar System as a customer of EDF I decided to get in touch with a Solar provider called Contact Solar as recommended by them, this company Contact Solar on my initial enquiry were to give me a price of £4000 being about average for the service I required having had other quotes for this same work, this was all to change when a salesman was to get hold of me to then say, customers in Scotland are charged £1500 extra for this service and the overall cost to me would be £5.500.
When EDF customer service was contacted by me to make a compliant about this company which they endorse? they just fobbed me off and did not want to know about it.
I am seventy eight with a knee…
I am seventy eight with a knee replacement I cannot get down to read my meater. Iam 600 pounds in credit I have put in a complain it as been going on now for over a month nothing is being done , I ihave just spent 1 .he 28 mins most of that on hold till they hung up at 6pm. This company is not interested in there customers just getting money of them.
Avoid
Terrible customer service, wicked billing strategies based on computer generated estimates DESPITE having consecutive actual readings showing very low consumption. Bills still came based on estimates followed soon after by threatening letters.
When challenged a "team leader" said that their computer estimates based on an annual consumption as if that resolved the issue.
THEY DON'T DESERVE YOUR CUSTOM!! Use them at your peril
wheres the negative star rating? shocking customer service, no notes taken so have to explain whole situation to diff person each time, they give you deadlines and never get back to you, every call they tell me something different, send me on wild goose chase with wrong info, have to wait on tel lines each time. NO COMMS, waiting for 6 MONTHS and still not got engineer appt...how do they run a company??? they're lucky i'm not a witch because i would hex them to bankruptcy if i could. They've wasted so much of my time and cost me dearly financially & no apology. Wouldn't wish them on my worst enemies. THEY DON'T DESERVE YOUR CUSTOM!! Save yourself & go somewhere else there's plenty of choice!
I have moved out of the flat and EDF…
I have moved out of the flat and EDF keep charging me 64 GBP per month for literally an empty flat in summer with just a fridge running. Their excuse - “oh you are on this special tariff that charges you a lot”. Well, thanks I guess … decided not to argue and switch to Octopus. Best decision in my life. If you see EDF - run…if I could give them minus stars, I would!
