Written by the company

Edinburgh Cask Reserve was established by a team of seasoned cask brokers with decades of combined experience across the Scotch whisky market. Having built deep relationships with distilleries throughout Scotland, the founding team recognised that buyers deserved better — a service built on transparent pricing, authenticated provenance, and expert guidance. In a market where opacity and excessive markups remain commonplace, ECR was created to offer a different standard. We help investors safely source scotch whisky casks as an investment and exit the market for a profit.

Very positive first experience with Edinburgh Cask Reserve

I was introduced to Edinburgh Cask Reserve after looking into alternative assets outside of the usual stocks and property route. I’d been interested in whisky for a while, but honestly the cask investment world felt a bit murky from the outside, so I had a lot of questions before I was comfortable doing anything.

I spoke directly with Jordan, who was very clear from the start that this wasn’t a quick-flip type of investment. That actually gave me more confidence because I’d spoken to a couple of other companies before who made it sound like whisky casks were almost guaranteed to double overnight. Jordan walked me through how the process actually works — ownership, bonded storage, delivery orders, insurance, exit routes, and the realistic time horizon.

What I appreciated most was that the conversation wasn’t pushy. He asked about what I was trying to achieve, whether I wanted something more established or something with a longer-term maturation profile, and then explained the pros and cons of each option. I ended up reviewing a few different cask options and was given enough time to properly understand the paperwork before moving forward.

The best part for me was the transparency. I could see where the cask was stored, what documentation would be issued, and how the ownership process worked. Georgia also helped with the compliance/payment side, which made the process feel organised rather than salesy.

It’s still early days, so I obviously can’t comment on the long-term performance yet, but the buying experience itself was professional, educational, and much clearer than I expected. For anyone considering whisky casks, I’d say make sure you ask proper questions and understand the timeframe — but my experience with Edinburgh Cask Reserve so far has been very positive.
