Discrimination at Ekoplaza Bussum

At Ekoplaza Bussum, also known as the "Non-Binary Lefties Club," the staff seem to make their own judgment about who is entitled to use the 'Too Good To Go' packages. These packages were originally intended to help prevent food waste. However, the staff have decided that they are only meant for people who are truly struggling financially. People who support the initiative and want to use it to combat food waste are being excluded. This feels like a form of discrimination based on the staff's personal judgments.

Vegetables are not really organic tested with pesticide strip

Vegetables are not really organic. Their quality varies. Til last year it was great. Some months ago I started testing the greens (rucula, snijbiet,spinazie) with pesticide testing kid as the after taste and residue in my hands while washing them was alarming. Im paying double the price for organic, I really want organic. Otherwise, I am being scammed and trust becomes low.

I have something very serious to report…

I have something very serious to report about this supermarket. I was there just last week and I noticed the gold Kiwis were a lot smaller than the ones at the regular supermarket. I took this as a good sign at first and wanted to try them, but then when I ate one I discovered that they are selling Cheap Italian non-organic gold kiwis knockoffs.

I should've realised when the zespri gold organic sticker wasn't on it that I was being sold garbage. It had a terrible sour and watery taste to it (more like the cheap Italian green ones taste) and what really bothers me is usually 500 g cost €3 at the regular supermarket and they are delicious with the authentic zespri gold sticker, and here at EkoPlaza they charged €5 for these absolute phony gold kiwis!

This is not the first time this store has been lying and cheating and scamming. What really bothers me is that the people working there are lovely and kind and have nothing to do with this but the upper management and the owners and the directors are a bunch of liars and rip-off artists monopolising the biological food trade in the Netherlands. You should be ashamed!

Dear Customer,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed about the Kiwi Gold. We greatly value your feedback and take your concerns seriously.

We want to assure you that all our products, including these kiwis, are completely organic and meet the highest standards according to the organic certification. Regarding their origin, during this time of the season, Zespri kiwis are also sourced from Italy, and the size we offer falls within the standard trade sizes for kiwis.

We understand that taste is subjective, and we regret that it did not meet your expectations. We apologize for this and appreciate your input. Thank you once again for reaching out to us, and we hope to restore your trust in Ekoplaza.

Kind regards,
Ekoplaza Customer Service

Consistent Overcharging – Unacceptable Pricing Practices

In the past eight years, I've frequently noticed that the amount charged at Ekoplaza’s checkout is higher than the price listed on the shelf. This is the case in different stores in Amsterdam. Given how often this has occurred over such a long period, it raises questions and leaves me with a concern that customers might be overcharged more often than they realize.

It feels unfair and could lead customers to question the transparency and trustworthiness of pricing practices.

The online customer service and the employees at Ekoplaza Amsterdamsestraatweg, Utrecht, were very helpful

The online customer service helped me really well several times. I wanted to change salt lamps I had bought online and I was allowed to go to a shop and choose ones I like. And they also reactivated an old discount code for me.
Also the employees at Ekoplaza Amsterdamsestraatweg in Utrecht were very friendly and helpful. They helped me change the salt lamps, even though they were not able to scan the invoice.
I also like the shop in general for the fact that they sell organic, bio-organic and eco friendly products!

Do NOT order from Ekoplaza online

Do NOT order from Ekoplaza online! The staff is completely incompetent and rude. During the delivery process, the delivery man initiated a conflict over a cart (box) in which the products were delivered. As per the invoice, I was prepared to pay EUR 4 for extra the cart (box). Additionally, I have prepared the cart (box) from the previous order of Ekoplaza to give back in exchange for the new one. The delivery person refused to take the previous Ekoplaza cart (box) in exchange for the new one. He refused to take EUR 4 payment for the new cart (box) either. He could not explain why. He only kept raising his voice at me and insisting that I empty the cart (box) he brought immediately. Considering that it was a man almost 2 meters tall, it looked very menacing. On top of that, he did not keep social distance and was NOT wearing a mask. After I said that I would not be unpacking in a rush, he started taking my food out and putting it directly on the floor. When I asked him to stop doing that, he said he was fed up, that I could keep the cart, and stormed out. All done in a raised voice, to which my neighbors could be witnesses, as they easily heard everything through their doors. Right after this incident I called customer support and reported it to the agent that picked up. She recommended calling the shop directly and explaining them. But their phone is not mentioned anywhere. So instead I wrote an email to the customer support describing this situation. The next day I received a call from a representative of the store. He called to tell me that the delivery person was right and I was wrong. Without even offering an apology for the rude and inappropriate behavior of their delivery personnel or asking any questions. Really, really bad service. This is not the way to treat returning customers. It was definitely my last online order with Ekoplaza and I will not be going to the store which sent this delivery either.

Mould is yum, money is yummier.

Ekoplaza Bussum - why do you put your "Magic boxes" on Too Good To Go like less than 1 hour before closing? Money money kaching?
I was given items expired yesterday. Another considerate colleague replaced them with items expiring today - such as a mouldy quiche. That quiche was so mouldy, I mistook the mould for spinach at a quick glance! Am I supposed to eat that past 19:00? You think that is healthy? You're supposed to be eko bio healthy, so why do you think eating past 19:00 is healthy?

I think your store does not agree with the image of "Eko" you paint here - I won't be buying your overpriced s**t anymore.

A service to reconsider

As soon as I entered the Ekoplaza Osdorpplein, I felt unwelcome. No greeting from non of the employees that were working, neither the cashier that was on her phone trying to hide. Everything is written in Dutch (difficult for english speakers to understand everything) no help was proposed to me when I was struggling at the fruits and vegetables and when 2 employees were working around me. There is never any bread. It's time to pay, I got more than a 100€ bill meaning a lot of items, but the cashier was on her phone sitting there without proposing me any help neither caring about the food that she was trowing on the belt side and being damaged by the quantity and weight of what she was putting behind. Overall, prices are expensive compared to the service given

Insulting and abusive behavior of cashier in Ekoplaza Haarlem

Today I had very sad incident with the employee of Ekoplaza in Haarlem.

I was talking on the phone with my mother after hard working day. I collected necessary products for me, moved to cash box to pay... and...

The lady on a cash box rejected to punch goods because I speak by phone.
- In addition she accused me that I do not care about people and I’m rude person;
- If I want to speak by phone I should go to Albert Heijn;
- That she is not going to help me if I’m busy with my phone.

I commented to her that I find it rude and insulting towards me and I will definitely follow up this case with the manager. So she turned her back to me and left.

I made a follow up with the manager of the store who name is Kees van Leijen and he expressed his opinion (in writing) that he supports this kind of behavior of the employees and if I don’t like it, this is my problem.

These people will go far with their “customer disoriented approach and insulting behavior towards customers”! :)
