Does not honor their pre-orders
If I had not previously received an order from El Cerrito Liquor without issue, this would be a one-star review.
I pre-ordered a bottle of Double Eagle Very Rare in April 2026, with the understanding that bottles were expected to ship in May. This was meant to be a very special gift for my husband's 20th wedding anniversary—the bottle was released the same year as we got married, and I was so excited to surprise him with it.
A few weeks into May, I reached out for an update and was told the bottles were expected to ship by the end of June. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued to wait.
After still receiving no shipping confirmation or proactive update, I reached out again. Instead of receiving a shipping update, I was simply told that my order had been canceled and the charge voided.
I never requested that my order be canceled.
I replied asking why the order had been canceled after waiting several months and whether it was due to an allocation issue or an error. I have received no response.
I understand that delays and allocation issues can happen, especially with a bottle like this. What I don't understand is allowing a customer to wait for months, providing revised shipping expectations, then canceling the order without explanation—and not responding when the customer asks why.
The pricing was fair, I genuinely wanted the bottle rather than a refund, and there was sentimental meaning behind this particular purchase. The entire experience has been incredibly disappointing, and the lack of communication is ultimately what prompted me to leave this review.
